Living Sentinels Campaign #2

The Living Sentinels Campaign!

 (Rules from lynkfox...thanks!)

1.     Each player may submit 1 game results. You can play as many games as you want, but you may only submit 1 game result.

2.     Each chapter of the campaign will last about a week. After a week or so (give or take a few days) the games results will be tallied depending on several standard things to note, and several things individual to the game (They will be listed in the scenario)

3.     After the due date of the scenario, no other games will count. You are of course welcome to play the scenario yourself, if you want a challenge in some way, but your results will not affect the next chapter.

4.     The storyteller will determine how the next scenario plays out, involving some of the aspects of the last scenario - the ST may change over time - I'm excited about it right now and I have some ideas, plus I'll do several scenarios so people have an idea of what I'm getting at. We may even reset for a new Campaign.

5.     Special instructions: Some games will have special setup instructions. Please note, that because of these, if they have a special setup, Do Not Submit them to the Statistics project. These will not be standard games.

6.     We'll keep all the results in one thread, and a separate thread with all the Scenarios to keep it a bit more clear. I will post the scenario in both threads, to help but one thread will be kept pretty clear.

7.     If you don't have all of the components to play a game completely, you can still submit a game, replacing the missing parts. Whether or not that game will be accepted as part of the results is up to the ST.

Chapter 1 - Sun and Moon

Location: Outside the Rook City Museum

Ra:  Maia, this is fantastic. Thank you for sponsoring the new Egyptian exhibit.

Wraith:  You did all the work, I just shipped it here.

*Haka joins them.*

Haka:  Ahh, so this is where everyone is.

Ra:  Great that you can make it Aata, but where did you find a tux that would fit you?

Haka:  *with a huge grin on his face* I learned to sew.

*Sensing something is wrong, Ra looks up.*

Ra: Too bad we couldn't have the event during the day, I always preferred the sun over the moon, and tonight, the moon looks awfully big.

Wraith: *staring up at the sky* Too big if you ask me.

*Suddenly, the outline of a Mobile Defense Platforms forms over the face of the moon.*

Wraith: Blade. *Wraith takes out her phone.* Aminia, tell the team that Blade is in Rook City.

Aminia: Ok, they should be there shortly.

Wraith: Hmm...Stinson should have been here by now.

Ra: Should we wait?

Haka: *gently folds his tux and puts if off to the side.* I see no reason they should have all the fun.

Wraith: Ok, let's go.

Setup

Villain: Advanced Baron Blade

Heroes: Wraith, Ra, and Haka

Environment: Rook City (If you don't have Rook City, use Megalopolis, and mention that in the results).

Notes: The heroes can be played in any order. Use the normal version of each character, not the promos.

Special rules: None

Results to note

-Did the heroes win? If not, did they lose by having 15 cards in the trash, or by being incapacitated.

-The number of cards in the villain trash before Blade flips.

-Final hp of each character. The heroes and Blade (if they lost).

-At the end of the game, did Wraith have a Mega-Computer out, and how many?

Results Due by Sun, October 27th, 11:59 PM CDT.

There's no Ra when the moon is up, that's when Dr. Blake Washington Jr gets to come out and play. And he might have fared better than my team did.

Hero loss! (2 Blighted Streets and 2 Twisting Back Alleys did not help)

10 Cards in the trash when he flipped (6 targets, all kills by the heroes!)

Blade ended on 15 HP (last turn Flesh-Repair Nanites), every one else on 0

0 Mega Computers (3 during the game, all used for an Inventory Barrage)

Heroes triumphant, due largely to a turn 1 Dr. Tremata and a turn 3 Tony Taurus. The fact that Ms. Maia managed to get 3 copies of her Mega Computer online didn't hurt either.

16 cards in the trash when the Baron flipped means he was right on the cusp of getting that beam fully activated, however.

A judicious use of smoke bombs led to a final hp of 13 for both Haka and Wraith and 12 for Ra.

Hmmm... I wonder why no one else showed up to help. Do you think Aminia had trouble contacting them for some reason? It's not like her to fail to get the whole team together right away. I hope nothing's wrong back at the office...

My results:

Hero Victory!

Final HP:  Wraith [13]; Ra [13]; Haka [16]

Blade had 9 cards in his trash when he flipped.

Wraith had one Mega Computer in play by the end of the game.

I got a good run of Impromptu Invention to start the game and was able to keep Wraith's damage down with Stun Bolt/Micro-Targeting Computer and a well-timed Throat Jab.   Plus, Haka was able to eat several of the Baron's cards with Savage Mana, which turned out to be the killing blow.

Had a real nailbiter on my hands this game!

Result: Hero Victory

Ra - 0

Wraith - 1

Haka - 0

Game ended with a 11 point inventory barrage with Barron at 10hp. There was one Mega Computer that was destroyed in the final barrage for what that might be worth. There was no other option.

Barron flipped with 15 cards in his discard. It came down to Haka (last in turn order) discarding his whole hand with a Haka of battle to deal the final 7 damage to get him into phase 2.

I wouldn't say this one was a nailbiter, but it was tought.

Result: Heroes won, yeah.

Haka was at the highest HP with 12, followed by Ra at 5, and then Wraith at 3. Baron Blade at the end was tied with a Powered Remote Turrent for lowest HP target at 2 HP. In the end, his plan was ultimately foiled by not watching where his giant robot was stepping as he hit a building and was hit by some falling statuary, thus ending his mad rampage.

Horrible game! Once Baron Blade flipped, the combined power Twisting Back Alleys, Living Force Field, and his advanced text proved to be too much DR for the heroes. Only hero that was capable of dealing any damage was Wraith. Toss in the Backlash Field, meaning any damage that was able to get through the DR, meant they would just get hit right back. The thing that makes it worse is Wraith had a Throat Jab and Haka had a Ground Pound for several rounds in the game, but neither could do anything with because of the DR or lack of cards.

Wraith was certainly the key to this senario. She is the only one with ongoing/enviro destruction (and trying to destroy RC cards usually comes at a high cost otherwise), and backlash field is certainly a high priority to get rid of. Combine that with the fact that Element. Dist. is a large enough threat to keep Ra on his heels the entire game (Imbued Fire is a non-option), Wraith also has to pick up some damage slack with Razor/MicroTarget (Haka can't do it all alone). On top of that you needed to find time to play a Mega Computer and hope devious disruption doesnt show up. Wraith had so much she needed to do and not enough time to play it all.

I was having time to play anything that I could, but the issue was drawing what I needed. I never seen one Grappling Hook, which is why Backlash Field and Living Forcefield was such a huge problem. What I should of done was let Ra die sooner so that way I could of used his incap powers to get rid of those Ongoings. After the flip, Ra and Haka never were able to deal damage to Blade, only to the lackies in his deck.

Let me throw in a request: Could at least a couple of the scenarios be formulated from ONLY things available in the Core Set, with no expansions/promos? there are people who are relatively new to the game that might like to be part of this and couldn't otherwise.

"Where the heck are you guys?"  Wraith yelled into her wrist communicator, "We can't get through his defenses!"

2 Living force fields, Elemental redistributor, all three defense platforms, Twisting Back Alleys and Scum and Villainy.  It was a perfect storm.

Wraith barraged the only Mega Computer she got into play to drop Baron to 3hp.  Unfortunately that was where he remained with exactly 15 cards in the trash.  Even Haka trapping two cards under Savage Mana couldn't stop it.

So:

Hero Loss by cards in trash = 15

Baron Blade 3hp

No Mega Computers

Haka: 22hp

Ra:  18hp

Wraith:  8hp

This is honestly the first time I've lost to Blade.  I've come up with extra hard scenarios and still never even seen him win on the front side.  Heroes even got good cards, Blade and Rook City just shut us down.  Cool scenario, can't wait to see where it leads.

I seriously considered this issue and was going to make it happen in Megalopolis, but Rook City is better for the story. Unfortunately, it only gets worse after this.
I have a more ideas for this game, but the original idea was to have different story tellers each time. So, if someone else wants to start a new campaign with core only, we can use that idea and switch off the story teller each time. If nobody does, I will start a second one later tonight.

Baron Blade even on his advanced side is usually kind of a chump. Rook City helped balance him. The fight is difficult without being nightmarishly insane and annoying, unlike fighting the Chairman in Rook City, ugh. I've had some ideas for a Sentinels type RPG experience that I could adapt into a Living Sentinels type experience that uses only the core set. I'm busy this next couple of weeks, though.

I feel like I could have played that better... It was close, with Baron Blade left with 6HP. I didn't realize just how bad Backlash Field and Living Force Field could be. Toxic Sludge was doing my work for me by the end, but Baron Blade prevailed. There was one Mega Computer out earlier, but it got destroyed by a premature Inventory Barrage.

I will try, but how about this in the meantime. If there are only a couple of things not from the core set, I will put down a core set replacement. So in this game, if you want to keep everything the same, but play in Megalopolis, that's fine. Just be sure to mark down the different in the results, and I will take that into account. (Rook City is a more difficult environment than Megalopolis.)

I think the main reason heroes had more losses is because 3 heroes vs. advanced Baron Blade is harder than a lot of people thought.  I've done a lot of self-plays 3 vs advanced Blade, and he is very difficult.  There's usually not quite enough damage ouput to take out all of the villains targets without taking a lot of damage.  I find in my self-plays that I get him to flip, but I've used so many damage dealing cards and taken more damage than usual (to prevent cards going into his trash) that his flip side is difficult to finish off.  I estimated as much as 40% loss percentage when the setup is 3 heroes vs. advanced Baron Blade of my own self-plays.

Early Backlash Field is almost always the reason for the loss, because heroes are forced into taking damage from Blade.  And then when he does flip, his auto DR and damage dealing combined with the Backlash Field that probably hasn't been dealt with ensures Blade finishes off the heroes.  In my game, Wraith got the Eyepiece out.  We had to let Blade heal for 10 HP so he couldn't play a Living Field Force.  That meant another turn of damage from a Blade Battlion and Toxic Sludge (we used the Sludge to destroy the Racketter the first chance we had, or else we'd taken even more damage).

Rook City is one of the most anti-hero environments there are, combing all of these factors, it's not a surprise Baron Blade managed to get so many wins.

I played in one of the other submitted games, but someone else did the submitting, so I figure I can add my entry.

Lost by incap after the flip (11 cards in his discard at the time). It was close. Baron Blade had 10 HP remaining and Wraith was ready to Inventory Barrage for 14, but the environment and villain turns were brutal and she didn't get the chance. There was one Mega Computer.

Great. Thanks a lot. I have been sitting here working on the next scenario, and your results just upped the average Mega Computer to 1. Now I have to go back and change everything.

No reason not to spoil it a little now. The Mega Computers helped the heroes get to where they needed to be, and the more Computers the mroe heroes in the next round. The average was at 0, which meant 3 heroes, but I just went back and added another one, for the extra Mega Computer.

Chapter 2 - Men and Gods

2A - A Man Becomes a God

Baron Blade: Finally, those heroes won't stop me this time.

Minion: Umm...Boss, they destroyed the machine!

Baron Blade: Maybe, but it still worked, maybe not perfectly, but it worked.

Minion: Umm...Boss, the machine didn't work, the moon is still up there.

Baron Blade: Fool, who wants to destroy the Earth! I only needed to pull the moon closer, and it worked. Look...

*Baron Blade points to his Living Force Field and it begins to pulse as if alive.*

Baron Blade: This...device...is full of mystical energy, but it only contains the a fraction of its true potential. I searched the Earth for something similar, but I couldn't find anything. There was only one place left to look, beneath the waves.

Minion: Umm...Boss, what does that have to do with the moon?

Baron Blade: Fool, the moon controls the waves on this planet, the closer it is, the bigger they will be. With the seas  in turmoil, all we have to do is wait for the energy to reveal itself.

*The Living Force Field grows stronger.*

Baron Blade: See, the energy is being revealed, all we have to do is find it. Let's move.

Minion: Umm..Boss, shouldn't we build another Mobile Defense Platform?

Baron Blade: No time, they destroyed the machine before the moon was in its proper place, we have to move now to find it before them.  That Wraith's Mega Computers might be able to find this place.

Minion: Umm...Boss, I don't think we have to worry about those Mega Computers. I saw her throw a couple of them at you.

Baron Blade: Let's hope you are right. Let's go.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Visionary: This is where Maia said to be. *Seeing Tempest.* Glad you got my message.

Tempest: Why is the ocean in such chaos?

*The waves push away revealing very old ruins.*

Tempest: Whoa! What is that?

Fanatic: *Flying down to join him.* I was wondering the same thing.

Nightmist: *Solidifying next to them.* Those are the Ruins of Atlantis.

Fanatic: The Atlantis? The one that sunk.

Nightmist: Atlantis didn't sink. It was buried. It was sunk on purpose.

Tempest: Why?

Nightmist: It was the only way to keep it locked inside.

Tempest: What?

Visionary: I sense pain.

Nightmist: I sense darkness.

Fanatic: I sense evil.

Tempest: I sense calamari.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Baron Blade is walking among the Ruins, and the Living Force Field is growing in power.*

Baron Blade: Hahahaha...Finally, the world will bow to me! But this isn't enough power, not of the Ruins having been exposed. I know...I know...all I have to do is bring the moon a bit closer. All I have to do is rebuild the machine!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tempest: Who is that man down there?

Visionary: Baron Blade. I sense he has something to do with this.

Fanatic: What is Baron Blade doing here?

*Energy is flowing from the Ruins into the Living Force Field.*

Nightmist: He is taking the energy of Atlantis! We must stop him!

Fanatic: So, let's take him out.

Nightmist: We can't, the energy is making him invincible!

Tempest: No problem, we just destroy Atlantis. It is in ruins anyway.

Nightmist: No! If you do, you will free what is trapped in there.

Tempest: So, we can't get him, but we can't destroy the ruins. What should we do?

Nightmist: *with a deep sigh* I...don't...know..."

Setup

Villain: Advanced Baron Blade

-Baron Blade starts with 10 (average hp) + 12 (cards in trash, energy from Atlantis) = 22 hp.

-Remove all 3 copies of Mobile Defense Platforms from the game (the heroes destroyed them last game).

-Remove 1 copy of Living Force Field from the game, and put the other copy into play.

-Living Force Field has the following text:

            This card is indestructible.

Reduce damage to Baron Blade by 1 for each environment card in play.

-If there are 15 cards in the trash at the start-of-the-turn on Baron Blade's setup side, the heroes do not lose the game. Instead, add 30 hp to his current hp, put the rest of the environment deck into play (the moon reveals all of the ruins), and flip Baron Blade's card.

-If Baron Blade is reduced to 0 hp on his setup side, flip him, and restore his hp to 30.

Heroes (any order): Visionary, Tempest, Fanatic, and Nightmist (if you don't have Nightmist, you can use Wraith).

Environment: Ruing of Atlantis.

-At the beginning of the game, put the top 12 (cards in trash) / 3 = 4 cards of the environment deck into play (these were revealed by the moon in the last game).

-If the environment deck runs out, do NOT shuffle the trash into the environment deck.

Special rules: None

Results to note

-Did the heroes win?

-The number of cards in the environment trash at the end of the game.

-Final hp of each character. The heroes or Blade (if they lost).

2B - A Man Challenges a God

Mysterious Voice: Blade, why are so incompetent. Well, at least you are consistently incompetent, and it is easy to plan for. I will make sure the other heroes don't bother you, but don't fail this time.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

*Tachyon helps Wraith from the ground.*

Wraith: Stinson, where have you been? Blade just got away!

Tachyon: Blade? I am here because of the hostage situation at the museum.

Ra: What?

Tachyon: We just got the call from Aminia, thugs have taken over the museum.

Wraith: Let's go!

*Everyone walks up to the museum, and they see Legacy, Bunker and Absolute Zero inside.*

Bunker: What happened to you?

Wraith: Blade.

Legacy: WHAT? WHERE?

Ra: He got away, but it doesn't matter. Look!

*Everyone turns, and they see the Operative running into a glowing portal surrounded by Egyptian hieroglyphs .*

Absolute Zero: Follow her!

Ra: Wait! That rune above the portal, it's Anubis.

Bunker: Is that bad?

Ra: It's not good.

Legacy: Doesn't matter, we have to follow. You three look beat up, you stay here and cover the entrance from this side. Everyone else, let's go.

Setup

Villain: Chairman

Heroes (any order): Legacy, Bunker, Tachyon, and Absolute Zero

Environment: Tomb of Anubis

-Rod of Anubis should have the following text:

            This card is indestructible.

When a trial card is destroyed, place this card next to an active hero.

If this card is not by an active hero, then at the start-of-the-environment-turn, put this card next     to the Chairman. If the Chairman isn't in the game, put this card next to an active hero.

If this card is next to the Chairmen, then at the start-of-the-villain-turn, the Chairman deal 2            infernal damage to the hero with the highest hp.

If this card is next to an active hero, then at the start-of-that-hero's-turn, that hero deal 2   infernal damage to a non-hero target.

-Idol of Anput should have the following text:

            This card is indestructible.

When a trial card is destroyed, place this card next to an active hero.

If this card is not by an active hero, then at the start-of-the-environment-turn, put this card next     to the Chairman. If the Chairman isn't in the game, put this card next to an active hero.

If this card is next to the Chairmen, then at the start-of-the-villain-turn, the Chairman gains 2 hp.

If this card is next to an active hero, then at the start-of-that-hero's-turn, that hero gains 2 hp.

Special rules: None

Results to note

Environment started with two Krakens and both Toxic Seaweeds out.

Tempest Flash Flooded the toxics and as Blade was the lowest of the targets, we let the Krakens eat him. We had all three out until Blade flipped when Fanatic End of Daysed to clear the environment out. Sadly some retributive damage and having to dip into Martyr to do any damage to Blade meant she was the lowest and clobbered. tempest and Visionary surivved as while the krakens were nomming, Tempest kept throwing out downpours. NightMist had ideal hand and got the amulet, Nekclace and Master of Magic out in the first three turns, so whenever blade hit the highest for lots, he tended to fall on his own cannon.

Fanatic eventually fell to the mystic defences after throwing all bar 1 hit point at Blade.

2B: Heroes win

Legacy 12, Bunker: 0, Tachyon: 0, Absolute Zero: 16

The Chairman started with the Broker, then pulled out the Muscle.

Legacy went into Next Evolution/Lead From the front mode as soon as possible as the informant kept playing out Rook City is Mine that spammed a lot of the environment deck. Zero started with no equipment, and the scarabs out so couldn't evn draw. Couple of Frost-Bound Drain's to get the bad guys down to the point where the various rtials started chewing through them. Trial of Fire and Trial of Blades is not fun for the Chairman's goons. Tachyon grabbed the Rod as Shamise fell to the various trials, while Zero got the Idol to keep him up. Tachyon was first to fall, to the spike trap rather than the chairman, while the same spikes finished off Bunker a few turns later. Zero ended up with rod and idol as well as, eventually his full set up, while Legay had the ring and charge so was able to heal , tank and damage every turn. But the environment was what really killed the Chairman's minins and the Operative, allowing the heroes to concentrate on him personally, with Legacy taking and ignoring the retributive damage.

Thanks for the write ups.

Hmmm…after so many losses last time, I didn't want to make Chairman advanced. Maybe I should change that.

Maybe he should learn not to challenge a god next time.

I'd see how the others do. Legacy with Lead from the Front AND Next Evolution on turn one, plus two prison breaks before I killed any underbosses really helped out.

PlatinumWarlock's Session 2A:

Results to note

-Did the heroes win?  Yes!, but barely!

-The number of cards in the environment trash at the end of the game.  8 cards in the environment trash.

-Final hp of each character. The heroes or Blade (if they lost).  Nightmist [6], Visionary [3]; Fanatic [6]; Tempest [3].

Chalk this one up to Wrathful Retribution!  Fanatic was able to unload on Baron Blade the turn after he flipped, taking out 23 of his 30 hit points in one shot!

Session 2B will be following lunch!

PlatinumWarlock's Session 2B:

Results to note

-Did the heroes win?  Yes, handily!

-Final hp of each character. The heroes or the Chairman and Operative (if they lost).  Legacy [10]; Tachyon [8]; Absolute Zero [15]; Bunker [11]

The armored duo of Absolute Zero and Bunker utterly owned this game.  AZ got out a Cold Snap in his second turn, followed immediately by Bunker's Ammo Drop.  With so many cards in hand, Bunker had the Gatling Gun churning and, combined with +2 damage from Legacy, the Chairman couldn't keep any henchmen on the board long enough to actually deal significant damage!

Tachyon didn't do too much during this game, but she did take out Anubis with a well-timed Blinding Speed.

The Chairman did end the game with the Idol of Anput in hand, only because it was the first Environment card played.  I can just picture AZ standing over the badly-beaten Chairman, plucking the Idol from his crumpled, frostbitten form, saying "Yeahhhh, and we'll take this!"

Scenario 2A:

Heroes WON! Huzzah! Most damage was done by Tempest and Fanatic, Visionary helped with enviroment control, Nightmist... well, not much, but she was tanking like a boss. Last strike was dealt by Fanatic's Wrathful Retribution for whooping 23 damage, which was just enough to finish the job.

Visionary: 9 HP

Nightmist: 7 HP

Tempest: 9 HP

Fanatic: 7 HP

Results for 2A

Victory!

But only just.

Baron Blade did not reach 15 cards in trash, but only because of Fanatic on 1HP when Visionary enlightened a Wrathful Retribution into her hand!

There were 12 cards in the Environment trash at the end (The last one being a Kraken, which took out Visionary, who then used her incap power to take it out!)

Baron was on 0 HP

Visionary was on 0 HP

Tempest was on 2 HP

Fanatic was on 0 HP

Nightmist was on 3 HP

The indestrucible shield did provide some problems but drawing 2 Environment targets and 2 very easy to get rid of non-target cards meant they were all gone by the start of the second environment turn, but that extra 1DR frequently annoyed Fanatic.

2B or not 2B?

Yeah, it was not to be.

Hero loss

No one ever got their hands on the Rod or the Idol, they did not come out at all.

Final HP, everyone on 0 except the Chairman, who was on 14.

Cold Snap was going gangbuster all through out the game, and a first turn Impale really helped knock the Operative out, but it wasn't enough. Anubis tried to help by pouring the heat on the Chairman for a while (whichi obviously did nothing) but when Impale finally had the Operative at 35 her HP raced down as Anubis punished her for each villain targets we took out.

Alas it was not to be.

Chapter 2C - A God against Gods

Haka: *examining the Egyptian Egypt.* This isn't bad, but I would prefer a little actions.

*With a large crash, the doors to the museum open.*

Atum: Ra, did you really think you could hide this from us?

Ra: Ward, what are you doing here?

Atum: I am not Ward, I am Atum, and I am going into that Tomb.

*Thunk*

Atum: Oww! *Looking down* Who throws a wrench?

*Bang* *Bang**Bang*

Expatriette: Would you prefer bullets?

Atum: Move aside mortal, and let me through.

Expatriette: Over my dead body.

Atum: That can be arranged.

Setup

Villain: The Ennead

Heroes (any order): Haka (22 hp), Ra (21 hp), Wraith (19 hp), Mr. Fixer, and Expatriette.

-The hp for the heroes are the starting hp, not their max hp.

Environment: The Tomb of Anubis and Rook City

-During the environment-play-phase, if there are more active villains than heroes, play the top card of the Tomb of Anubis.

-During the environment-play-phase, if there are more active heroes than villains, play the top card of Rook City.

-During the environment-play-phase, if there are an equal number of  active villains and heroes, play either the top card of the Tomb of Anubis or Rook City.

-Note: While there are two separate environment decks and trashes, they are considered one deck for any ability. For example, Ra can play Excavation, move two cards from the Tomb of Anubis's trash, one card from Rook City, and then draw three cards.

Results to note

-Did the heroes win?

-Final hp of each character. The heroes and villains. If the villain character did not enter the game, put in its max hp.

Yay! Hero win!

The game started with a Taste of Immortality, and the second turn was Rise to Power! However, I have never seen the heroes tear into a target as quickly as they did. By the end of the first round Set was in the low single digits.

Mr Fixer had an awesome opening hand, Pipe Wrench, Meditation (for Driving Mantis) and Harmony so he largely ignored the damage coming from the Ennead, but the other heroes had problems with it, but surprisingly it was the environment that took out both the heroes who were incapped, curse that Anubis!

A total of 2 Rook City cards were played, I figured Shu's and Set's incap ability was hero choice, as both environments were considered one deck (if not we would have got 3 more Rook City cards).

An out of turn Unload, thanks to Set, finished the day.

Phantaskippy's Results:

2A:  Epic Match

Info:

Heroes win

9 cards in trash.

Fanatic 1hp.  others incapped, no env. in play.

Started with 2 Kraken, collapsed Hallway and Mystical defenses in play.  Blade Slash and Burns to rid himself of being the target for Kraken. (boo)

Fanatic throws Martyr and Nightmist Lashes an Oblivion (3-3)  Env. is hurting, heroes hurting too.

End of Round 2 the third Kraken comes out and Nightmist dies.

But with Leaking room in play and Twist the Ether on Fanatic, she drops Divine Focus and wails on Blade (5 lightning to start each turn, yes please!)

Blade devious disruption, we keep only Twist the Ether.

Third Kraken is still out and Blade is at 1 Hp with -2 taken.  We can't kill Kraken so we leave Blade to eat the shot (fanatic plays Prayer of desperation), Hallway collapse flips Blade, Kraken incaps Tempest.  Tempest puts Divine Focus back in Fanatic's Hand, She unleashes on him.

A fortunate draw of Smite the Transgressor when Fanatic had an empty hand ends up saving the day by letting Fanatic kill Blade on Nightmist's turn.

Great match.

2B:  The Massacre.

This was an absolute classic Chairman steamroll.  Bad opening hands meant no damage for first round, and Legs even got inspiring presence, but no tanking stuff.  Worse is the Broker and Fence were the cards played on Chairman's turn, and with no killing either it was a bad start.

The Organization actually got full strength, every target from the villain deck was on the field for the last turn.  Mdjai killed an informant and a thief, but with the contract out hurt us much worse (and of course Thief and informant just came right back out).

Heroes lose (Start of Round 4)

Chairman and Operative at full HP

The heroes dediced to go all out on the attack, taking Atum down in the first two turns, despite Nuit's arrival from the Shrine. Hpowever, Ra's decision to play imbued fire early cost them as a three sun turn scorched the heroes. For a time, Haka's taiha and Expatriettes Assault Rfiel and Shotgun looked like the tide was going to be turned, especially when Anubis emerged from his Tomb to smite the pretenders to Godghood.

However, the challenge of the blades put down Haka and Expatriette and left Fixer last man standing on 3 hp, it was all over bar the shouting, proved by Nephthyis the next turn when she pulled out death's grasp and sucked the life out of the sensai mecahnic.

2C.

Heroes lost, because Ra was too valuable... so Ennead killed him first. The problem wasn't Ra dying... the problem was that he died before Shu was KO'ed. It ended with vaiant fight of Haka, Wraith and Mr Fixer against one Shu, which he easily outmanouvered with his transparent personality.

All Ennead members were out, and all died, except:

Shu: 3 HP

Highlights:

Wraith: Three improntu inventions in first few turns. Did what she could, but still helpless against wind guy.

Haka: Watied for a useful weapon. Died before getting it.

Ra: Died too fast, but fought valiantly. His Incap side was useful.

Expat: Her shotgun will be missed. Her Cryo rounds as well.

Fixer: He tried. He tried even harder when he was out last hope. Failed anyway.

Hey all,

Our team is joining a bit late, I'm going to post all our results so far (even if they are too late to be used) since they were pretty decent stories at the very least :)

Game 1: Heroes win, handily

Results: Wraith 16, Haka 11, Ra 10.  0 Mega Computers in Play. 9 cards in Blade's trash when he flipped.

This game went really well for us.  Baron Blade kept summon soldiers who would hurt the heroes, but were easily crippled into being of little use.  A statuary fell and damaged Blade's platform, toxic sludge poured into the streets of Rook City multiple times and damaged his platforms and his minions.  Wraith got powerful projectiles out quickly and pummeled Blade every turn for 5.  Her smoke bombs kept the heroes with plenty of health, Ra blasted Blade for consistently more than his DR, and Haka gathered cards in preparation for a huge burst to finish Blade at the end.

Game 2A: Heroes win, barely

Results: Fanatic 4, Nightmist 25, Tempest incapacited, Visionary incapacitated.  13 ruins destroyed.

This was rough.  Leaky rooms and seaweed at the start of the fight meant the heroes couldn't do very much to get at Baron Blade early on.  Fanatic had to ditch all her tools and it took her time to recover from that.  Blade considered the price of victory very early, and was about to flip until Visionary brain-burned him at the cost of much of her life.  Though unconscious, Visionary's mental blasts were enough to keep the dangers of Atlantis at bay for the rest of the fight.

The other heroes then managed to get Blade very close to flipping, with the rise of the ruins very close... but a single, purple spark released from the unconscious Tempest was enough to strike Blade, knock him down, and shatter his device.  With everyone very weak, Tempest started cleansing the heroes to strengthen them up again, but an untimely kraken attack finished him off.

Nightmist had gone mistbound and was pinging Blade when possible.  Between her tanking and Tempest's immunity ability, Fanatic was kept alive long enough for her to power a wrathful retribution that finished off the Baron.  Every single ruin of Atlantis was destroyed or in play at the end.

Game 2B: Heroes... win?  No, just Legacy wins.  Barely.

Results: Legacy 32, all other heroes incapacitated.

Crooked cops were protecting the Operative and underbosses right off the bat.  Tachyon pulls a hand full of great cards and has goggles and is pushing the limit first turn, with two lightspeed barrages in her hand.  The other heroes can't do a whole lot early, with Bunker, Legacy, and AZ getting out their ongoings and equipments.  The environment comes out with trials of fire that blast everyone for damage; AZ insists it be kept out because he'll use it to his benefit.

More underbosses come out and the team fights them off slowly, harnessing the fire that is slowly burning them to death.  Legacy becomes invulnerable to melee damage and starts tanking the Operative's hits, which helps immensely.  Enforcers come out, and with Tachyon getting burned and pushing the limits, she's low on health, meaning she has to start ditching lightspeed barrages before they can be helpful.  Mummies come out from the tomb and chomp away at the Operative.  Best. Mummy. Ever.

The enemies start to become too much but Bunker gets back-to-back combustions; with an ammo drop in play he clears the field and has most of his deck in his hands.  The Chariman flips, and the heroes have a turn to blast the Operative and Chairman, doing a ton of damage to them.  Then, of course, the dreaded Prison Break!  Tachyon and AZ go down hard; Bunker's armor keeps him alive, but he can't combust again and can't really do much.

By now, though Legacy is immune to environment damage, melee damage, and projectile damage (thanks to AZ's incapacitation help), and he can punch and regain health every turn.  That was vital because that turn, the Tomb of Anbuis effectively went supernova: the mummy who plays environment cards when villains die entered the field, and the trials already in place started blasting villains, summoning more trials, which blasted more villains.  Almost the entire Tomb of Anubis hit the board, finishing off all the villains except the Chairman, including the Operative.

Legacy grabs the idol next turn to heal himself the rest of the game (but mostly to prevent the Chairman from getting it), as he and the Chairman are locked in combat in a fiery pit of swinging blades of death that can cannot hurt either of them.  The incapacitated heroes keep Legacy invulnerable and playing enough cards that he never has to give up his immunities, and he slowly punches the Chairman to death... it took him a while.

Game 2C: Heroes win, decisively

Results: Haka 18, Expatriette 18, Ra 12, Mr. Fixer 22, Wraith 9.  Nephythys, Osiris, Tefnut, Nuit, and Set incapacitated. Unplayed: Isis 26, Atum 30, Shu 24, Geb 32.

Heroes pretty much dominated this match.  Villains drew cards that didn't help them early (destroy environment/ongoing before the heroes had a turn), and after that Wraith was stacking their deck to play effects that dealt the least pain.  Ra early on imbued the group with fire, and also made the heroes immune to fire every turn, so Wraith regularly selected the villain card which would cause fire effects.  Haka smashed things with a fiery taihaha and Expat layed down fiery rounds with her assault rifle.  Anubis emerged from the tomb and blasted the Ennead with his nemesis bonus.

Set was taken down first with Osiris right after. Dr. Tremata emerged from Rook City, which would have helped the heroes if Set didn't cause the environment decks to be shuffled (we weren't sure how to play this, whether we got to choose one environment deck or whether it happened to both, but it really didn't matter much).  Thanks to Wraith's stacking, the next villain card was harmless.

Three villain targets left, and the heroes brought the pain.  Ra brought forth an inferno.  Haka rampaged them all for 6 without hurting the heroes at all, thanks to Ra's Imbued Fire + fire immunity.  Expatriette unloaded Pride and her Assault Rifle, and Mr. Fixer came in with grease monkey + jack handle to finish them off.

All in all, some great cards in the heroes opening hands (Ra: Imbued Fire + fire immunity, Haka: Taihaha + Ta Moko, Wraith: Infrared + Utility Belt, Expat: Assault Rifle, Mr. Fixer: Grease Monkey + Jack Handle + Toolbox) and some good draws made the match reasonably straightforward.

Game 2A: Heroes win, as close as it could be

This went quite badly from the start, when Leaking Chamber and two Toxic Seaweeds killed the heroes’ entire first round. Baron Blade activated his device, putting everything in to play, and the heroes won by having Fanatic hit herself so that her Wrathful Retribution would take out Baron Blade. I’m afraid only a single Phosphorescent Chamber was left of the ruins of Atlantis.

Heroes won: Yes
Cards in environment trash: 14
Final HP: Baron Blade 0, Tempest 0, Visionary 0, Nightmist 0, Fanatic 1

Average hps will be used, but who won is based on how many people won. Here is where we stand right now:

2A: 8-1 with 10 cards in the trash.

2B: 3-3

2C: 4-2 Wraith was in danger of having an average of 0 hp, but the couple of new games raised that to 3.

[Last-minute submission: an accidental back-page deleted the whole long story I'd typed out, and the Lazurus Form Recovery add-in doesn't appear to like working with this site.  ]

Scenario 2A:

Hero victory. Nightmist incapacitated, Fanatic=5, Visionary=6, Tempest=9. 11 cards in the environment trash. I'll re-type the story of this epic battle and try to post it shortly.

==============================================================================================

Scenario 2B:

Hero victory. A0=12, Bunker=21, tachyon=21, Legacy=23.

Madame Akana was the first disgusting thing to come crawling out of the tomb, so the heros just left her to do her work until Legacy had managed to steal both the Rod and the Idol. He also started with Motivational Charge and the Ring in his opening hand, so things got pretty easy after that. The fact that Anubis focused most of his attention on the Operative and the Chairman didn't hurt, either. Easy victory.

And now: Battling the Belligerent Baron through the Bemired Bathyal Bastion (Scenario 2A, recapped).

When our heroes first looked down on Atlantis they were utterly shocked by what awaited them in the Ruins below. Nobody was looking forward to wading into such a malodorous mess. Two piles of Toxic Seaweed, a Leaky Room, and a Phosphorescent Chamber, with the Baron bearing down on them right through it all. Ouch. The wreck and wrack on the freshly-exposed seafloor could really complicate their clean-up efforts.

It was hairy work until Tempest finally called on a passing storm and started to provide the whole party with a bracing Cleansing Downpour each turn, keeping them from being completely mired in the muck. That blessed rain (along with its handy-dandy friend the Phosphorescent Chamber) provided some much needed breathing room early on.

Once the heroes were finally able to play cards and powers with impunity, the Baronic bastard buckled quickly under their combined attacks. He continued to manipulate the tides, however, and as more and more of the ocean floor was exposed, his Living Force Field grew until he was well-nigh invulnerable. He sat at 2 HP on his front side for 3(?) rounds, not taking so much as a scratch. Finally, with 17 cards in the villain trash, a Gene-Shackled Ball Lightning finished the job just before he could uncover the rest of the sunken Ruins.

During this hectic time of strife, Tempest, Nightmist, and Fanatic kept risking curious glances back to where the Visionary sat. While they were all busy fighting a running battle through the Ruins, the girl with the fancy haircut mostly seemed to just sit in the corner while thinking quietly to herself. Oh, sure, every so often she would tell them what the Baron had planned or maybe toss a couple points of damage at him, but the other heroes were beginning to wonder why she had even bothered to come at all.

As it turns out, she had spent that time patiently probing the evil inventor's mind for any weakness she could find. The others had whittled him down to 19 HP after the flip, but it was slow, dangerous, and painful work. Finally, separated from any remaining Ruins and with nothing left to power his Living Force Field, the Baron took the offensive. He cackled maniacally as he drew a vicious blade and began to Slash and Burn towards our hapless heroes. Things did not look good for them.

It was at this moment, however, that the Visionary finally decided to reveal herself. Little known to him, the young lady had completely penetrated the villain's mental defenses during her quiet contemplation, giving her complete control over his every action. You see, she was even the one who had made the "Suggestion" that he Slash and Burn in the first place! As he lunged to attack, he was gripped by an irresistible compulsion to swing his massive heated blade not at his intended target, but at himself instead!

"What treachery is this?" he cried, filled with a sudden panic and fearing for what may come. He felt brief comfort that his heavily armored suit would intercept some of the force of the blow, but when it came time for metal to meet metal it seemed to have no effect at all! Little did he know, the Visionary had not only Wrested away control of his Mind, but she had also Twisted the Ether around him, making his armor just as soft (and effective) as so much butter and honey. [I know, impossible, right? This was one of those rare timelines, however, in which the original printing remained in effect and anyone could be Wrested, even the villain himself.]

His mighty blade struck home in his now-unprotected flesh, dealing  melee damage, and then another +2 fire damage on the follow-through. He suffered such agonoy from trying to resist her relentless mental attack that another 4 psychic damage made it past his (slightly-more-effective this time) armor.

The Baron was so enraged by this turn of events that he used the end of his turn to again lash out at the strongest hero he could find. He bellowed mightily in his rage, but that tone quickly changed. "What, no! Not again!" he cried, as he again felt the Ether Twisting around him and control of his Mind being Wrested away. Agghh! He should have known. Once the Visionary has you in her power, you are but a puppet on her strings. Another  energy damage had made its way home.

Staggering from the force of the blow, Baron Blade felt himself going numb as the psychic backlash drained his broken body and mind of its very last hitpoint of strength. The battle was over. Atlantis had been saved.

The remaining heroes rushed to the Visionary's side when they saw the Baron fall; they knew full well the excruciating pain that she could cause herself when seizing control of another's thoughts. "Are you OK?" cried Fanatic, anxious over the toll such a powerful Wresting may have taken on the psychic's fragile mind. Visionary stretched and yawned as she stood up from her resting place and she gave a hearty laugh. "Ha! I've never been better! I put up a Decoy Projection earlier so I wouldn't have to handle any of the nasty stuff in that jerkwad's head myself. It took all the ickiness from the first two attacks, and I made sure to knock that beardy little prick unconscious before I had to deal with his broken brain again. Gods, but I hate the way he thinks. Can we please just go home and take a bath now? This disgusting mud is everywhere, and it stinks! I feel like I'll never be clean again."

He forgot the part where Wrath's lawyers found a sympathetic judge and a federal court decision revoked Baron Blade's Character status, rendering him simply a villain target, at least until a higher court suspended the ruling, but by then the damage was done.

The Freedom 5 was sued by Baron Blade for gross infringment of Character rights, but they are confident that the the case will be dismissed, largely because as of yet no Judges have been granted character status.

Gah… I really need to print out the EE corrections and put them in sleeves. I've been playing with the old rules for far too long. Thanks for pointing that out; I stand horribly corrected.

After she had had her bath, the Visionary learned that she existed in only one of many different Shattered Timelines, one of the few in which the original printing was still in effect. She discovered that she was vastly more powerful than her temporal sisters, for she could target anyone she wanted. She knew she had a responsibility to not abuse such power and vowed then and there to never take direct control of another character's mind again. [Or at least do her best not to - that weird voice in her head that called itself "Rabk" sometimes told her to do the most bizarre things…]

Story revised, but mark mine as a loss regardless, Pydro. ;…(

Yeah, there's nothing worse than a psychic in the courtroom, Phantaskippy. If only thoses judges could sue for defamation of character. Alas, 'tis not so (much to Visionary's delight)…

Chapter 3 - Nemeses

Chapter 3A - Cute Hatred

*As Blade goes down, he is suddenly surrounded by several agents.*

Tempest: F.I.L.T.E.R.!

*Before Tempest could move, the agents bind the Baron, and they all disappear.*

Nightmist: What just happened?

*Before anyone could respond, the ground begins to shake, and a winged figure bursts from the ruins and head to the sky.*

Fanatic: You won't escape!

*Once again, before anyone can respond, Fanatic gives chase.*

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile in Megalopolis...

Unity: Well, Mr. Chomps, I think it's time for another bot. Got any ideas?

*Mr. Chomps pauses, then shakes its head.*

*Suddenly, the outline of two winged humans appear before the enormous moon.*

Unity: Hmmm...now there's an idea.

*Unity follows the winged people.*

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a rooftop in Megalopolis, Fanatic finally catches her prey...

Fanatic: You aren't getting away this time, and what were you doing in those ruins?

Apostate: Just picking up a few more toys.

*With a flourish, Apostate reveals a sword in one hand, and a book in the other.*

Unity: *out of breath.* There you are. *Eyeing the sword and book.* Ooohhhh...I have never seen those before, I could make some interesting things from those.

Scholar: *Casually walking on to the rooftop.* Your powers won't work on those...yet. *The Scholar pulls out a stone, and Unity begins to glow.* Try it now.

Unity: *with a big grin.* Cool, and I have a great idea for a new bot too.

Setup

Villain: Advanced Apostate.

-(H) is equal to 5 in this game, even though there are only 3 heroes.

-If the "reveal" effect of Profane Summons runs out the deck, shuffle the trash, and reveal cards from the trash until enough relics are put into play. Then, put the trash back.

Heroes (in any order): Fanatic (3 hp), Scholar, Unity.

-Fanatic: Fanatic starts with Aegis of Resurrection in play.

-Unity: For the purposes of Unity's power, all Relics are also equipment.

-Unity: If Unity destroys a target to make a bot, she takes damage equal to the current hp of the target.

-Unity: Add Redeemer Fanatic (or any other card) to Unity's deck. The text should read:

Redeemer Bot- 6 hp

Mechanical Golem - Relic - Apostate's Nemesis

This card cannot be played during you play phase.

At the end of your turn, all hero targets regain 1 hp, and each player may draw a card.

Environment: Megalopolis

-Start the game with Rooftop Combat in play.

Chapter 3B - The Awakening

*The group watches as Fanatic flies off.*

Visionary: Let her go, she needs to deal with this herself. When did it start raining?

Tempest: Your welcome. Time to go?

Nightmist: No, we have to make sure nothing was released.

*As the rain pours down, the team begins to search the ruins.*

*After a while, they begin to here a demonic laugh.*

Gloomweaver: <I have awaken!>

Tempest: What did he say?

Nightmist: *Using a demonic voice* I have awaken.

Tempest: Oh. I think something was released.

Setup

Villain: Gloomweaver

-The following 11 cards were released by the destruction of the ruins: The 6 pins, the 3 relics, Ophidia, and Strength of the Grave.

-These card begin in Gloomweaver's deck like normal. However, if they are destroyed, they do not go into the villain trash (but they count as being in the trash for the victory condition). Instead, play the top card of the environment deck, and place the destroyed car underneath it. If that environment card is destroyed, put the card underneath it into play. If that villain card gets destroyed again, take a new card from the environment deck. Rinse and repeat.

Heroes (in any order): Visionary (20 hp), Tempest (21 hp), Nightmist (23 hp).

Environment: Ruins of Atlantis

-Do not play the top card of the environment deck during the environment turn.

Chapter 3C - Too Many Gods

*The heroes just finished dealing with the Ennead, when they see the Chairman coming through the portal holding two relics.*

Chairman: *Energy is flowing from the relics, giving the Chairman a big smile on his face.* Much better.

Ra: Put those back!

Chairman: I don't think so.

*The Operative limps through the portal, and the Chairman touches her with the Idol of Anput.*

The Operative: Much better.

*During the confusion, the Ennead who can walk escaped, leaving only Nephthys and Osiris conscious, and Nuit on the ground.*

Chairman: Stand aside, you are no match for me now.

Mr. Fixer: Not a chance.

Chairman: Then die.

Osiris: We can't let him take the relics.

Ra: You will stand with us?

*Nephthys raises his hand and a fiery glow covers all the heroes:

All the heroes: Much better.

I knew this would be a concern. Thie biggest issue is that you can't replace the villain, and Omnitron, Voss, and Dawn, don't really fit into the story. Let me see what I can do.

I am writing a short side story. It wasn't originally part of the main plot, but the heroes weren;t doing anything this week anyways (well, not that you know of).

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  3A

Did the Heroes Win?  YES!  Astoundingly, so!

What were the ending hp?  Fanatic [12]; Scholar [25]; Unity [12].

I actually managed to open the game with Redeemer Bot, which made a huge help, in terms of keeping Fanatic alive and fueling Scholar's card draw.  The Environment was an issue at times, as only Fanatic could really destroy Environment cards, though two Police Backups and a well-timed Zealous Offense kept it in check.

Unity was the heavy hitter in this match, ending the game with 3 Raptor Bots, Redeemer Bot, Platform Bot, Turret Bot, Cryo Bot, and Swift Bot in play!

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  3B!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes...with some odd results.

Final Hero HP:   Visionary [7]; Tempest [2]; Nightmist [8]

This was a very odd match.  I didn't come across a single one of Gloomweaver's relics, instead managing to beat down Gloomweaver's HP with an amped-up Tempest (complete with GeneBound Shackles).  Between a combo of Into the Stratosphere and Suggestion, Gloomweaver was relegated to playing mostly the same Zombie over and over again, while we proceeded to beat on him.  The one round I didn't have one of those cards, Nightmist Mistbound his deck...

The only reason that my hp were so low this round was because I had a Toxic Seaweed in play, which I just left there, preferring the 2 damage per round to the Voodoo Pin beneath it.

PlatinumWarlocks Results:  3C!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes, barely.

Final Hero HP:  Haka [6]; Ra [1]; Wraith [3]; Fixer [8]; Expatriette [9]; Nephthys [12]; Osiris [8]

An absolutely brutal game, I was convinced that I wasn't going to win this, with Chairman dealing 6 each time I hit him.  However, I ended up with several multi-tags of damage from Haka (Elbow Smash/Mere); Ra (Flame Spike, Blazing Tornado, Pyre); and Fixer (both Overdrive and Charge with Pipe Wrench, Grease Monkey, and Harmony in play).  I'd have easily been dead on the next round, had I not had a great 'nova' turn.

Both Nephthys and Osiris were critical for this match, as I was able to focus damage on the Chairman and Operative, leaving a target free for Osiris and enjoying some great healing.  Without that, I'd have been down for the count!

PlatinumWarlocks Results:  3D!

Did the Heroes Win?  Good lord, YES.  Wow.  Beatdown.

Final Hero HP?  Legacy [24]; Tachyon [16]; Absolute Zero [25]; Bunker [17]; Chrono Ranger [23]

I've rarely seen such a huge beatdown on the player's side, primarily due to some phenomenal draws.  Legacy opened with Inspring Prescence and had his Motivational Charge/Legacy Ring/Galvanize combo rolling.  AZ had everything he needed and was firing off massive damage Thermal Shockwaves by round 3.  Tachyon had no less than 3 Hypersonic Assaults, which shut down Ambuscade, and Chrono-Ranger opened with Jim's Hat, Sudden Contract and his Bow in hand.  Bunker was merely "okay" and still was dishing out harshness with Flak Cannon and Ammo Drop rolling.  By the time I got his OmniCannon out, Ambuscade was nothing but a grease smear!

3A:  First turn Profane Summons bad enough, second turn Apocalypse and third turn imp pilferer meant all our cards were gone, even Fanatic's aegis.

Unity lived for five rounds after the others died, staying alive through their heals and her bots drawing Apostate's fire.  Pugilist ruined everything when he showed up.  Rooftop combat was vicious to us, and it took forever to get rid of it.

HEROES LOSE

Game 3A: No victor. Most heroes incapcitated, Scholar and Apostate locked in eternal battle.  Unless backup arrives...

Results: Scholar at some arbitrary health amount, other heroes incapacitated, Apostate at 1, an arbitrary number of relics in play.  I'll explain...

We thought we had no chance.  A first turn profane summons meant six relics were on the board before we got to move, and Apostate was punching us so hard the Scholar and Unity were almost half dead right off the bat.  Unity popped a relic for a bot, then drew the Redeemer bot which she was able to throw out turn two. Scholar started spouting proverbs and axioms to heal the group.  Fanatic got her flaming sword early on and was responsible for slaying imps and other foul creatures before they could cause too much harm.

Fanatic slowly withered two relics into oblivion as Unity amassed her golem army.  Scholar was so desperately trying to heal everyone that he wasn't doing much in the way of elementals.  As soon as the second relic went down, another profane summons occurred... with the special rule, now there were EIGHT relics on the board.  The group carried on.

Scholar manages to punch Apostate two turns in a row with his own infernal damage -- the card that makes it so Apostate can't deal damage for that turn.  This buys the group enough time to take down several more relics.  Fanatic takes out the imps and pugilists that keep popping up, but not the relic spirit -- no, we need to leave him alive, or the relics come back.

Another relic spirit shows up, but even with two of them, their healing power isn't enough to save the remaining relics as Unity now has two raptor bots, two platform bots, swift bot, the Redeemer bot, and more.  The last of the relics goes down as the group turns its eyes on Apostate, with his 40-something health remaining.

Environment turn.  Hostage situation.  Hero cards can't be played.  Bad, but not the end of the world: we've got Unity's army and Fanatic's sword.  It does mean Scholar can't do any damage this round, but that's probably okay, the heroes have this game on lock, right?

Villain turn. Apocalypse.  At the start of the next environment turn, destroy all non-relic, non-character cards in play.  And this card IS the end of the world, in the most literal sense.  Hero cards can't be played thanks to the hostage situation, and none of the heroes have anything to take out ongoings without playing a card.

So, how much damage can the heroes do in one round?  Unity does about 35, which is fantastic.  Scholar can't play cards and doesn't have any damage powers or elementals, so he does none.  Fanatic slashes with her sword for another 4 more.  But it's not enough -- a big ugly green "5" counter is left sitting on Apostate's card, glaring at us.

Environment turn.  Hostage situation ends, but the Apocalypse triggers.  Down go the two relic spirits, which bring the eight downed relics back into play.  Unity's bot army is blasted into oblivion, and the Scholar loses his protections.  The party is naked, and Apostate is fully armed to the teeth.

The Scholar, ever prepared, goes into full-on defense mode with two Flesh to Iron spells.  Apostate makes pretty quick work of the others.  The two remaining characters stare each other down.  Who will come out on top?

The game took too long for us to find out.  Neither of them would die.  Sure, an Apocalypse would slow Scholar down, but the two other characters letting him play cards made his defenses come back real quick.  By the end of the game, he had almost his whole library in his hand - by playing the Draw-5 card on another player's turn, he could effectively redraw any cards he ditched to elementals and played, keeping 3 elementals alive permanently and playing 3 cards a round (6 cards ditched: playing one card on each player's turn, and discarding 3 cards toe elementals, 6 cards gained: playing the draw-5 card on another player's turn, and drawing one card on his turn).  By playing his Draw-2 Heal-2 card, he could reach full health pretty quickly.

But, could he do any damage if all of his elementals are devoted to keeping him alive?  He has two plays left (one is dedicated to drawing 5 cards).  With all the relics and a few environment targets in play, Grace-Under-Fire (I think that's the card) was letting him blast for 11 or 12, which could one shot most of the relics.  With both Grace's guaranteed in his hand each round, that's 2 relics down per round, though in later rounds it takes multiple shots to take them out.  By then, Apostate has almost always pulled another Apocalypse-relic spirit combo or dropped another Profane Summons (and since the Profane Summons variant doesn't care whether the relic is in discard or deck, there was no real timing that could benefit Scholar).

So, he could never really gain the edge, but with 6 DR he never really took more than 1 damage at a time that he could easily handle.  We think there is probably some nasty combination of cards in order that could kill him off, but it's highly unlikely, as is the oppposite (the perfect storm or drawing all profane summons in a row and having time to finish off all the relics).

By the time we decided to end the game, Scholar had a steady HP of about 11, kept in check by various environment cards attacking him and Condemnation and themselves.  But he wasn't going down anytime soon, and neither was Apostate.  As far as we're concerned, he needs backup to arrive, otherwise he and Apostate are locked in eternal conflict on the rooftops of Megalopolis.

Hero victory!

Far too close for comfort, Visionary 1 HP, Tempest 2 HP, Nightmist 0 HP.

Two Phosphorescent Chambers meant heroes were discarding all their cards as fast as they could draw them. But thanks to a Demoralization and Electrical Storm they were still able to keep up the pounding on poor old Gloomweaver.

Only 4 environment cards came out before he succumbed to the inevitable (and one of those was from a reoccurring pin).

All in all little to no decisions on what to be played made for a poor game (not the fault of the scenario).

Reducing damage by 2 to villain targets and getting smacked back for 7 evertime you hit the Chairman was the end, it was just too tough to counter.

Redeemer Bot never came out, so it had no impact on the game.

The Ennead mostly took hits rather than being useful because of their abilities (though they probably bought us a couple of turns), the bigger change was the problems that came from the steady flow of healing and damage the Chairman was dishing out.

Game 3B: Heroes win!

Results: Tempest 7, Visionary 13, Nightmist 14.  Gloomweaver 0.

I unfortunately missed this game as I worked from home to avoid getting others sick, but here is the writeup from my teammate:

Gloomweaver threw out some early Cultists and things were looking a little grim… until the Heroes took their turns! Initial Cultists and Zombies were quickly wiped out by and the deck was stacked to slow any further Cultists appearing. From that point on each thing Gloomweaver tried to play was dealt with as they appeared.

In the end the 2 Pins and 1 of the 2 discovered Relics were buried in Phosphorescent Chambers and a Mystical Defense, leaving Gloomweaver beaten and bloody (0 health, down from 90!) with Tempest (7 health), Visionary (13 health) and Nightmist (14) victorious!

Game 3C: Heroes win after a very long, drawn-out slugfest

Results: Haka 2, Mr. Fixer 2, Ra 4, Expatriette 9, Wraith 9, Osiris 4, Nephthys incapacitated.  Chairman incapcitated, Operative incapacitated (with extreme prejudice).

The first turn started off with the Broker and the Muscle, meaning we had Informants and Enforcers to deal with right out of the gate.  The Enforcers pummeled Nephthys hard, since she didn't have a player to discard a card for her (we weren't sure how to rule this one, so ruled against our favor).  Fortunately Ra was our first hero and was able to blast the Informant before she caused any damage, but the rest of the group were not getting strong damage cards, and we only managed to take out the Broker.  Osiris blasted away the Enforcers, but the Muscle was still alive, so the Enforcers put the smack down on Nephthys.  She didn't last much longer.

Then, of course, Advanced-mode Chairman flipped, and so using any all-target damage meant taking a lot of pain, and the Operative had health in the 30s.  She kept bringing out Underbosses, and without AoE damage, Osiris was probably our MVP, taking them out before they caused too much pain.  But we could never deal enough damage to both get rid of immediate threats and bring the Operative's health down, so she stayed out there, hitting us everytime we took somebody down.

Fortunately, Wraith got an early-game Infrared Eyepiece and was watching for the dreaded Prison Breaks.  But when the deck was running thin, we decided we needed to get them over with.

Mr. Fixer used his Grease Gun and we went for the Prison Break, dodging all their damage for a turn. That turn, Tony Taurus also popped up, so we were able to manipulate the deck even further.  We took down the Informants and Thieves, who could harm us even when their friends couldn't, and coaxed out the second Prison Break, when it wouldn't do anything.  Haka laid down two Ground Pounds in a row, finally being useful after pretty much sitting in his corner, healing himself and drawing cards.

Within a few turns, we had all the minions taken out, and were just left with the Operative and Chairman when we got the trash to flip into the deck.  That made things much easier, as Underbosses who can't summon Thugs really aren't that tough.  We also finally got some damage going, with Wraith laying down projectile fire, Expat rocking the tactical shotgun, Mr. Fixer going to town, and Ra doing the damage he always does.  We ended the game with an Unload for about 9, Haka of Battle for 13, and Inventory Barrage for 12.

It was slow and rough; we had to do everything defensive we could because we couldn't get the offense to take down Underbosses and the Operative.  But in the end, we got there.  Nephthys didn't last long enough to do us much good other than save us from discarding cards, but Osiris was our man the whole game; it was fun figuring out whose health to knock down so Osiris could finish them off, and he took a beating for us, too.

Also, Pydro, I think you get credit for a couple of sales.  I don't have Ambuscade or Silver Gulch, and told one of my coworkers (there's a large group of us at the office that play, and a smaller number doing this campaign) that we would miss the fourth scenario this week as a result.  Five minutes later he had them both ordered with two day shipping so we could make sure to complete all the scenarios

My teammates also have the theory that you are sitting in your room, playing all combinations of heroes and villains to find the absolute craziest things that can happen in a game (such as our Scholar/Apostate deadlock), and then throwing them at us to see how many teams run into them.  How far off are they?

I think that scenario was created specifically for me to be able to play it, as I've got the core set, Unity, Ambuscade, and Silver Gulch. I've been locked out of the last several scenarios, and lamenting the fact.

I won't disagree with that, but it did give me a way to do some other things...

EDIT: To be fair, I planned on using Ambuscade earlier, but Blade had to win that first game. 3D is the easiest game this week (by far), but I really like my idea for next week.

I have seen the Scholar draw some draws, but that wasn't the purpose. I wanted both of the mini-expansion in that game, and I wanted a new bot to fuel the Scholar. I really liked the idea of destroying relics (even with the cost), but it would be way too easy to destroy them. So, I needed Apostate to have a way to bring them out faster. Also, any DR in 3 player Apostate game can be very beneficial, so I needed to buff him up to (H) = 5 to even have a chance to overcome the Scholar with Redeemer Bot. I guess that means that it could also be a draw.

I think I put way to much thought into this campaign.

Game 3D: Heroes win, Bunker incapped. Legacy had 4, Tachyon had 3, AZ had 6.

Bunker started with no gear cards, and didn't get any until after getting an Ammo Drop out on turn 3. He did some useful environment control at one point, but other than his turn 1 External Combustion never had a chance to deal damage.

Zero mostly played tank, since he started with 3 NPCUs and a Modular Realignment. Most of the damage he dealt was via an early-ish Cold Snap and a later Impale.

Tachyon & Legacy both had starting hands that were OK but unmemorable. The explosives wagon going kablooey was what took Bunker out.

[b][u]Hero victory, now in 3d![/b][/u]

Legacy 16HP, Tachyon 15HP, Absolute Zero 10HP, Bunker 15HP, Chrono-Ranger 12HP

So much bonus damage! Every turn there was extra damage, first card played was Charged Attacks, quickly followed by 2 Explosive Wagons and By any means; Galvanize just added to the insanity.

It only took 4 rounds of continual beatdown to deal with Ambuscade, even with a Personal Cloaking Device starting in play and the reduced damage thanks to advanced mode and 2 Reactive Platings!

AZ had Cold Snap and Impale out, all the bonuses made him man of the match, any devices that came out got eaten pretty swiftly.

Just giving you a hard time, we don't really think you're trying to mess with us

I actually enjoyed the Apostate game very much; though the Hostage Situation - Apocalypse was incredibly frustrating, that was just sheer bad luck. The relic mechanic made for some very interesting choices, and our Unity player had a lot of fun with it. That game also had the added dramatic effect of our playing it in almost darkness… the power went out in the studio while we were working, and one of my coworkers runs over and goes "Since the power is out… sentinels?"

Unable to get any work done without our computers, we agreed this was a fantastic idea, we found one of the emergency lights by one of the exits, crammed a table near it, and played that game.  (Everbody else in the studio went home about a half hour later, but we stayed and attempted to play that one out).

I also really liked the BB in Atlantis game.  Having to take down so many environment cards really changed the way we thought about the game.

3A: Hero loss

Apostrate: 11

Condemnation: 11

Relic Spirit: 7

Periapt of Woe: 4

Unity: 0

Fanatic: 0

Scholar: 0

Unity burned through her health fast, using Bot-Hack to destroy the Tome, Effigy and Runes, but this left her vulnerable to when she bedcame the highest HP and was immediately crushed.

Fanatic stayted on three health most of the game, but the turn she flipped, Apoaste crushed her immediately.

The Scholar held on a little longer but only had one flesh to iron in play, wehich he'd had since the start, so was gradualyl whittled down and finally killed.

Scenario 3A:

Hero win; Scholar=5, Fanatic=6, Unity=8

Bot-Hack took down 4 relics in the first 4 turns, and no more relics were willing to show their faces after that. Fanatic managed to land an 8-point Sacrosanct Matyr (including Rooftop and Nemesis bonuses) right before it was time for the Aegis to pick her up anyway, so that was fun.

Scenario 3B:

Hero win; Visionary=7, Tempest=12, Nightmist=21

What? You say the trash has 5 zombies in it and nothing else? Sure, I'll do a Brain Burn. (That was easy…)

Scenario 3C:

Hero win; Haka=2, Nepthys/Osiris=3 each, all other heroes incapacitated

Boy, but this one was rough. Smoke Bombs was the hero it always is. Jack Handle/Overdrive saved our asses after a couple of Prison Breaks, and Haka eventually managed to eat four of the underbosses before we got the Operative flipped with the Chairman down below 20hp. Everyone’s health was in the single digits, but we had enough damage on standby between Unload, Salvage Yard (w/ Overdrive), and Inventory Barrage to seemingly guarantee victory within the next round no matter what The Organization did. Woohoo! Amiright?

Oh, what’s that, Blighted Streets? Scary, but we’ll manage. Now let’s shuffle the villain trash and see what comes out on top. A Hired Gun??? Nooooooo!! "‘X’ on this card = "? Nooooooooooooooo!!

Pride (though not always Prejudice) cometh before the fall. By the end of the villain turn everybody except Haka and the Egypto-Frenemies lay bleeding on the museum floor. Schieße! So much for that idea - the Chairman’s retaliation damage would finish Haka off as soon as he touched him. Oh well, we tried…

Mr. Fixer uses his incap than let Haka draw a card and then… What did you say you drew? Grooouuund Pooouuund!?

Chosen Disciple: 4

NightMist: 0

Bloody self-destructing environment cards. Five out of six environment cards revealed either destroyed themselves or was the bloody poillars which we couldn't allow to survive.

NightMist got pinned and couldn't handlt the nemesises damage. Then the Acolytes pounded on the weakeend heroes and wiped them out. Bad environment draw really favoured Gloomy this time out.

Chaiman: 0

Opertive: 0

Nephthys@ 6

Osiris: 5

Haka: 2

Ra: 4

Wraith: 0

Mister Fixer: 0

Expatriette: 0

Chariman flipped at the start of turn 2

A timely Rampage into Savage Mana, which was then used to devastating effect to take down the Operative (although tyhe retaliation damage fuelling it almost killed us) The heroes were immune thanks to a Flesh of the Sun God/Imbued Fire combo.

Then the Chairman's retaliation finished off Fixer, who had been holding him down with Hoist Chains. With a need to finish this before the -1 wore off, Expatriette shpt Pike in the face but was pummeled down in return. He then hit the Wraith at the start of his turn, but her martial arts empowered by the Sun burned only to have him still take her down.

With only Haka and Ra standing, and then only barely, Haka began his haka of battle, discarding his hand of 7 cards to club Chairman P{ike with his mere and defeat him.

4D: Hero win

Ambuscade: 0

Legacy: 12

Tachyon: 14

Absolute Zero: 5

Bunker: 16

Chrono-Ranger: 12

Explosives Wagon: 6

Two reactive platings at the start proved immensely frustrating, but the heroes whittled them down, aided by AZ ignoring the pain of Ambuscade's Explosives Launcherto Coolant Blast and Frost-Bound Drain and by Cryus Hayes shooting them repeatedly. It took Jim a while to get his bounties out but when he did, they included By any Means and Ultimate Target so Ambuscade, who had three traps active somewher in his deck was slaughtered with the Explosives Wagon, Legacy, Inspiring Presence nad the Bounties easily overcoming his DR. AZ got the final blow after two Light Speed Barrages had reduced Ambuscade to one hit point.

Game 3D: Heroes win!

Results: Absolute Zero 18, Chrono Ranger 15, Tachyon 12, Legacy 12, Bunker 14.  Ambuscade destroyed.

The match started with a cloaking device, the cannon, and some turrets.  The heroes were able to ramp damage up pretty quickly and take them out.  Tachyon had an early Supersonic Assault that stopped the devices in their tracks, AZ was impaling Ambuscade every turn once the cloaking device was down, and Legacy was an Inspiring Presence early on, so damage was high.

Bunker got a Flak Cannon out first turn and started blasting, then proceeded to just lob Adhesive Foam Grenades at the old western buildings for the next 3(!) rounds.  The fine folks of Silver Gulch were probably rather terrified.

Ambuscade kept trying to play more devices, but Chrono Ranger's bounties kept them in check - whenever one went down, another went with it.  With Chrono Ranger going last of the heroes, Ambuscade's Sonic Mine was actually detrimental to him because Chrono Ranger got to collect a bounty on it for 3 cards when he shot it.

Legacy eventually joined the rumble with backfist punches to Ambuscade's face, AZ and Bunker did their usual blasting, and Tachyon double light-speed barraged at the end.  Some nice chain shooting from Chrono was enough to seal Ambuscade's fate.

Fun, straightforward game after the brutal slugfest that is Advanced Chairman.  Looking forward to next week!

Game 3D: Heroes win!

Results: Legacy 0, Tachyon 16, Bunker 6, Chrono-ranger 14, Absolute Zero 21. Ambuscade destroyed.

The match started with the cloaking device, the explosive launcher, a turret, and the cloak. It quickly turned into a high-damage game, with the Explosives Wagon coming out. Bunker got rapidly reduced by all the damage to the lowest hero target, but just managed to survive (down to 1HP at one point). Legacy got taken out after he did a Heroic Interception and the Explosives Wagon blew up, then blowing up the Sonic Mine. But everyone else survived. On the last turn, Tachyon did not play the two Lightspeed Barrages in her hand, just so Bunker and AZ would have more chances to heal.

Chapter 4 - The Moon's Curse

Chapter 4A - The Mist's Curse

Tempest: Well, that takes care of him. Anyone up for sushi?

NIghtmist: We stopped him true, but these Ruins are still exposed. Anyone can come here and summon him again.

Visionary: So you think we should go after it.

Nightmist: I can open a door to the Mists. If we can find him, we can make sure he never comes back. We weakened him enough that destroying it might not be a problem. However, in the past, I have bound other beings into the Mist, and they might be a problem. We are going to need help.

Visionary: Wait here, I'll get Helena.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile, in Megalopolis...

Apostate: *Staring at the heroes on the ground* Now we can talk.

Fanatic: I have nothing to say to you.

Apostate: You know we are a lot alike.

Fanatic: We are nothing alike.

Apostate: *Picking up Fanatic by the throat* Sure we are.

Fanatic: Kill me already.

Apostate: I have no intention of killing you. *He moves towards Unity and the Scholar.*

Fanatic: It's me you want. Leave them alone.

Apostate: I have no intention of hurting her. *His hand glows, and the energy flows into Unity and the Scholar.* That should ease their pain.

Fanatic: What did you do to them!

Apostate: I was helping her.

Fanatic: Lies! You are nothing but lies!

Apostate: Am I, or does the idea of me having mercy and compassion scare you. If I can have mercy and compassion, you can have hatred and destruction. We will meet again. *Apostate flies off.*

Visionary: *Landing next to Fanatic* What happened?

Fanatic: He let us go? I don't know why.

Visionary: *Closes her eyes and concentrates, after a few moments she opens them again.* Something worth considering, but not now. We need your help back at the Ruins.

Unity: Great, let's go.

Visionary: Not you. They need you in Megalopolis.

Unity: *Grumbling* It better be another fight.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nightmist: Great everyone's here. *She closes her eyes, and a portal opens before her.* Be warned. In the Mists, reality can be...distorted.

*The heroes enter the portal.*

Tempest: *Pointing at Gloomweaver* There he is, let's finish him.

Voss: Well, well, well. The witch has returned. *as he is talking, the void between Gloomweaver and the heroes fill with minions.* This time I am ready for you.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back in the Ruins, a woman is going over the bodies of the slain cultist. However, one is still alive.

Woman: Your master is gone, but not his power.

Cursed Acolyte: *Struggling to stand.* How?

Woman: There is another way to summon his power, a Ronway.

Setup

Villains: Voss, Gloomweaver.

-Only Voss will have a villain deck.

-Put Gloomweaver's character card into play on any side (pick the picture you like), and give him his max hp.

-Gloomweaver only has the following ability:

Whenever a minion is destroyed, put a Sliver Zombie into play.

-Take out all of the Zombies in Gloomweaver's deck, and put them aside. This cards will never go into Voss's deck. If they would be destroyed, put them pack out of play.

-The Zombies are Sliver Zombies, and inn addition to their current abilities and hp, they have to additional abilities:

                1) Sliver Zombies are also relics.

                2) Sliver Zombies are immune to any damage type that an active minion is immune to. For           example, if there are 3 minions in play, one is immune to fire damage, one psychic, and one           projectile, all Sliver Zombies in play are immune to fire, psychic, and projectile damage.

-If Gloomweaver is destroyed, immediately destroy all Sliver Zombies.

Heroes (in any order): Fanatic, Scholar, Visionary, Tempest, Nightmist. All at max hp.

Environment: Realm of Discord

*A portal opens and the heroes go through, appearing at the Rook City Muesum.*

Mr. Fixer: What's here?

Chrono-Ranger: I'll explain on the way. Where is the industrial Complex.

Expatriette: *Reloads her guns." I'll show you.

*Expatriette, Mr. Fixer, Chrono-Ranger and Tachyon, head out of the museum.*

1883, just after the heroes left.

Woman: Professor, Professor!

Professor: Yes, Ma'am.

Woman: Do you know what happened here. *Picking up some devices left over from the battle.* Or what this is?

Professor: *Studying the objects closely.* I will admit, you have some strange things in America. We have nothing like this is Lithuania.

Woman: *handed him all of the devices left behind.* Maybe you can study these. Maybe you can make something useful.

Professor: Perhaps.

Present day.

Wraith: There is some sort of sommotion in Megalopolis. Some sort of robot is destroying everything.

Legacy: Where is Devra.

Wraith: Megalopolis.

Legacy: Tyler, Maia, you are with me. Let's see what is going on.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In Megalopolis a giant robot is destroying the city, using turrets and mines.

Legacy: Those look like Ambuscade equipment. Devra, what did you do.

Unity: I didn't do it. I mean that is really cool, but I didn't do it. Although,  I could use that stuff for a new bot...

Wraith: First, destroy that thing, then build something new. Something with a little more...empathy.

Setup

Villains: Advanced Omnitron, Ambuscade

-Only use Omnitron's deck and character card. However, take out all of the devices from Ambuscade deck, and shuffle them into Omnitron's.

-Any text that would say "Ambuscade" now says Omnitron.

-The following ability is added to both sides of Omnitron's character card:

Whenever one of Ambuscade's devices enters play, play the top card of the villain deck.

Heroes (in any order): Legacy (31 hp), Bunker, Unity, Wraith (22 hp).

Chapter 4D - The Earth's Curse

back at the museum, filter agents appear and take the Chariman and Operative away. A few minutes later, they take Osiris, Nephthys, and Nuit.*

Osiris: Not us, we were helping. Let go, tell them to let us go.

*Before anyone could answer, they were gone.*

Ra: Anyone else feel left out?

*The Ground beneath Rook City begins to shake.*

Haka: What was that?

Argent Adept: That was Mother Earth. The larger moon is causing disruptions all over the globe. She is trying to set things right. I could use a little help.

Haka: *Looking at Ra* Still feel left out?

Ra: Shut up.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As the room clear, a mysterious woman walks and takes the forgotten treasures.

Setup

Villain: Akash'bhuta

Heroes (in any order): Argent Adept, Ra (22 hp), Haka (22 hp), Absolute Zero

Environments (in this order): Rook City, Pike Industrial Complex, Insula Primas, Ruins of Atlantis, Megalopolis, Final Wasteland

-If a deck runs out of cards, don't shuffle back in. Instead remove all of that environment's card not in play from the game, and proceed to the next environment. If the Final Wastesland runs out of cards, then shuffle the trash to make the new deck.

Results to Note

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  4B!  (Yes, I'm doing 4B before 4A--deal with it.)

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes.

Final Hero HP Totals:  Expatriette [11]; Fixer [Incapacitated]; Chrono-Ranger [7], Tachyon [4]

This was a very fast, hard-hitting match.  Unfortunately for fixer, Plague Rat's first card targeted the lowest HP Hero, so he ended up Incapped in the last round we played.  Chrono-Ranger was the star of the match, with a great opening hand and 4 bounties on the table.  He dealt nearly 1/3 of Plague Rat's health in his last turn (the winning turn), thanks to a well-timed Hunter and Hunted with 4 bounties out.

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  4C!

Did the Heroes Win?  Nooooo.  Not even close.

Final Hero HP Totals?  All heroes Incapacitated.  Omnitron at 90+ hp, with something like 12 devices in play.

This one wasn't even close.  I played it twice and got absolutely nowhere.  Omnitron chained Device after Device into one another.  I conceded my first game after he pulled 2 consecutive Explosives plus a bunch of Ambusacde's items, then tried again.  My second round ended with a Railgun, a DisintegrationRay, an Explosive, two Sonic Mines, several Drones, two Hand Cannons, and an Explosive launcher staring me in the face.

In all honesty?  I don't see a good way to win this one.  There's just too many cards that chain off of one another to actually make any headway.  If the text read "The first time Omnitron reveals a Device card, play the top card of the Villain deck", that would be a fair challenge.  This...nope.  No way.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PlatinumWarlock's Replay Results:  4C!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes, in a nailbiter!

Final Hero HP Totals?  Legacy [3]; Wraith [1]; Unity [7]; Bunker [3]

Whew!  So close.  I was staring at least one of Ambuscade's devices in the face on the final turn and was unable to use powers, thanks to Paparazzi on the Scene!  I was, at one point, on my way to a pretty easy victory, but a badly-timed Technological Singularity wiped out  all of Wraith's and Bunker's equipment, heinously tearing down my hit points.  Legacy had been running Galvanize/Legacy Ring/Motivational Charge nearly all game long, and Wraith had a pretty solid starting hand as well, so that Singularity hurt!

However, Unity had a Powered Shock Wave in hand which dealt just enough damage to take out Omnitron's last 6 hp and take out his last two devices (which included one of Ambuscade's Sonic Mines...definitely saved until last!)

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  4D!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes.

Final Hero HP Totals:  Argent Adept [3]; Haka [8]; Ra [5]; Absolute Zero [13]

Environment Trash:   13 Rook City cards.  None from any other deck.

This one was close, but I had Absolute Zero rolling on all cylinders, with two Impales, his full array of Equipment, and Thermal Shockwaves healing him up every round.  Ra contributed some healthy damage and Adept managed to aid in the setup, but I didn't manage to get any healing cards out until the very end of the match, so keeping him alive was difficult.  Overall, not too shabby!

Ra's Excavation managed to put 2 cards back under the Rook City deck, so that was a help, as well!

Expatriette: 13

Mister Fixer: 4

Chrono-Ranger: 14

Tachyon: 10

Plague Rat had a nightmare draw (2 Infections, 2 Shadowy Ambushes). By contrast, the heroes had fantastic luck. Expat got her Shotgun in turn 1, and then two Incendiarys and one Armour Piercing, Fixer got a play of Jack Handle, Grease Monkey Fist and Harmony, CR got 2 sudden contracts and got Ultimate Target and By Any Means so much damage came from him, even though he never got any equipment, Tachyon had drawn up her hand ready for double Lightspeed Barrage, but CR put the varmint down before she got a chance. 4 rounds slaughter of the poor rat.

Ra: 4

Haka: 6

Absolute Zero: 0

Cards Destroyed:

Rook City: 8 (3 by the heroes, 5 by self destruction)

Pike Industrial: 1 (1 by heroes)

AA was rocking Harp and Bell, using inspiring Supertonic and Syncopated Onslaught. Ra built up with Staff and Imbued Fire (which eventually caused AZ to die through lack of healing), Haka got out Taioaha, Ta Moko and Punish the Week and AZ had two Imaples on Akash'Bhuta. As you can imagine, damage was heavy and AZ dying made it worse as it gave Haka another use of Taiaha to whale away on.

4A:

Hero victory: Nightmist 20, Scholar 15, Tempest 12, Visionary 11, Fanatic 7

There were some major shenanigans with Reclaim from the Deep and Don't Dismiss Anything, with two copies of each floating around. Tempest was Ether Twisted with both an Electrical Storm and a Hail Storm in play, rendering minion/zombie immunities totally powerless. Scholar had some trouble getting started but eventually was holding >25 cards in hand with all three copies of MFtE and all three StL in play. Better Living heals for four and deals four damage three times? Yes, Please.

4B:

Hero loss, all incapacitated. Plague Rat = 40 hp

My, but this was ugly. The Rodent won on his fifth turn. A turn one Noxious Bite meant that Mr. Fixer was down 3 hp, Expat & Tach down 11, and Chrono-Ranger had lost 14 hp before the heroes even took their first turn. Two Cyclohexane Vats didn't make things any easier. Those with P.R.'s advanced text meant that he was at +3 damage which made each of the two copies of Tooth and Claw he pulled deal 6 to the lowest and 8 to the highest hp, in addition to putting an Infection in play.  The Supercooled Trisolvent Vat dealing everyone  9 damage on the environment turn plus another 3 every time someone played a card was just the icing on the cake. Scary stuff, man. Scary stuff.

That battle was so bad that we just had to try it again. Pydro, use whichever result you need to make the statistics work best for you; I just couldn't let that loss stand.

4B, Rematch:

Hero victory. Chrono 9, Mr. Fixer & Expat 11, Tachyon 3.

Two Hypersonic Assaults let Hunter and Hunted and Bloody Knuckles be used to maximum effect. Chrono ended the game at +7 against Plague Rat (nemesis plus 4 bounties, including both damage boosters). C.R. was holding had a potential of 63 damage in the final round: Villain Turn = The Ultimate Target -> Masadah (11) when P.R. dealt damage; Play Phase (w/ Hat) = Eye on the Prize x2 (8 each), Terrible Tech-Strike (17), and any other "1 target 1 projectile" card (8); Power Phase = Masadah (11). Fun times.

4C:

Hero loss, all incapacitated. Omnitron = 93 hp.

Another absolute slaughter. Two Sedative Flechettes and two Technological Singularities crippled us every time we started to get up and running. A Terraforming showing up when there were four environment cards in play coupled with "play the top card when a Device is played" led to Omnitron ending the game with:

  • Reactive Plating x2
  • Sonic Mines x2
  • S-84 Automation Drone x2
  • Disintegration Ray x2
  • Automated Turret
  • Custom Hand-Cannon
  • Adaptive Plating Subroutine
  • Electro-Magnetic Railgun
  • S-85 Repair Dreone
  • Interpolation Beam

That wasn’t just a robotics factory, it was an entire robotic economy.

4D:

Hero victory. Ra & A0 12, Adept 6, Haka 5. All of Rook City and Pike were played, 7 Insula Primalis destroyed and 4 more in play.

Nothing special to report here; a pretty straightforward AB game.

After the first slaughter, i revised it a bit. Now you only play a card when one of Ambuscade's devices comes into play.

Yay, glad someone made it to Insula Primas. It makes it a bit easier to introduce…

Game 4A: Heroes win after a great match!

Results: Voss and Gloomweaver toast. Fanatic incapacitated. Tempest 14. Visionary 8. Scholar and Nightmist at full.

Very fun game. Heroes steamrolled early on with Tempest wiping the field first turn (Hail Storm + Twist the Ether). Zombies never lasted long, and Scholar and Nightmist had no problem absorbing damage. Fanatics death was a result of her player :ahem: me :ahem: playing a bit fast and loose with her health, using Divine Focus (with Twisted Ether!) for several rounds in a row to deal mega damage. This was helped by Visionary and Scholar helping with shenanigans to let Fanatic replay the Draw to 6 card. But the exact card that could kill her came out the turn before victory so she went down. Still, a very fun game!

Game 4B: Heroes win! ...On the third try :(

Results: Attempt #1 - Plague Rat at 30, others down. Attempt #2 - Plague Rat at 22, others down. Attempt #3 - Plague Rat knocked to negative 16, Expat 16, Chrono-Ranger 4, Tachyon 17, Mr. Fixer 2.

This was a brutal matchup, and luck was not on our side.  In our first two games we got early Rampages + Infections (or cards that bring infections into play from the library) + Afflicted Frenzy, meaning both that (A) Plague Rat flipped, healing himself and dealing damage to everyone twice each turn, and (B) each hero was hitting another hero for 5 or 6 on their turn, and themself for 2 or 3.  It was brutal, and we couldn't get Ongoing-Destruction cards into any players' hands.  In both games, though, CR was a superstar, dealing massive amounts of damage between his bounties, nemesis bonus, and infections.

Game three went much better, with a Hypersonic Assault and a Grease Gun warding us from Plague Rat's damage for two turns.  Expat had a tactical shotgun early on, and Chrono Ranger quickly ramped to about 20 damage per turn with his infection and his Compound Bow.  Plague Rat didn't stand a chance this time, though Mr. Fixer did almost bite it, being the lowest HP hero to start and continually getting chomped for being such.

Game 4C: Heroes win after a great fight!

Results: Omnitron down. Bunker 19, Unity 16, Wraith 21, Legacy 13.

This fight was actually a lot closer than the results make it appear.  We saw Sedative Flechettes turn 1 and 2, which hurt quite a bit for early on, but meant that we could safely play Ongoings for the rest of the match.  After that Omnitron kept deploying damage drones early game, and several heroes slipped into single digits as the team attempted to ramp up.

Wraith was rocking her eyepiece from turn 2, and actually prevented us from *ever* seeing an Ambuscade device enter play, so we never felt the pain of that chaining.  But at times we did have to make really interesting choices for which card we'd see - Ambuscade's device which could chain into something awful, or the Electro-Pulse Grenade, for example.

Once Unity got ramped up though, her raptor bots brought the pain.  An Adaptive Plating Subroutine was a major annoyance with Legacy and Unity back-to-back dealing melee damage, and having just used our Grappling Hook on a nasty environment card, we were a bit concerned.  But a Raptor Bot chomped a Bee Bot to get rid of that pain in the rear.

Legacy's motivating punches were what slowly brought the team back to decent life totals, and late game Bunker and Wraith were healing themselves for lack of better cards to play, so we ended up looking pretty good.  Nobody but Unity ever dealt massive damage, but there was a very satisfying tipping point in the fight in which the heroes seized control and led the match to its conclusion.

Game 4D: Heroes win... narrowly... after a very, very long match.

Results: Akash-Bhuta destroyed with 8 limbs in play.  Argent Adept incapacitated. Absolute Zero 7, Ra 8, Haka 9.  All of Rook City and Pike Industry destroyed, 11 pieces of Insula Primalis destroyed with 2 in play at the end.

This fight was long, long, long, and very slow... as every other match against Akash has gone for me.  Which has only been once before, since they take longer than our lunchbreaks :)

Also, it didn't help that we (I) played Akash incorrectly early on... so feel free to invalidate our results if so inclined.  But basically, I misrembered her card and thought that whenever a Villain Target entered play, we had to play the top card of the Environment deck (the reverse is true, but really you are just supposed to discard the top of the Environment deck when a Villain Target enters play).  That made things... quite a bit more difficult, as way more Rook City cards were played (which in turn meant that way more Akash cards were played! ...which in turn meant that more Environment cards were played! And so on...). This error resulted in some pretty crazy chain plays of limbs and damage, and we were hurting.  We realized our mistake partway through the match, but we were much too heavily invested by that point to start over.

Anyway, it was quite the slog through her 200 health, as Ra and AZ did their usual thing slow grind of damage.  It seemed like every time AZ got his setup going, he lost his stuff and had to start gain.  The Argent Adept actually got quite the healing setup going, which kept us in the match, but the mass removal kept putting a damper on that as well.

Haka, however, got all 3 Dominions in play at one point and, with all those Environment cards entering play and being destroyed all the time, he got to draw a LOT of cards.  To the point where every card he had was in play or in his hand and he couldn't draw any more.  Time for Haka of Battle, which put Akash one turn away from defeat!

Everyone was still in double digits at that point, and we thought we were quite secure in bringing everyone out alive.  Oh, how wrong we were.  Despite actually playing the rules correctly at that point, Akash managed to pull some crazy chain of cards that resulted in EIGHT limbs entering the field that turn and tearing the Argent Adept to pieces (that nemesis bonus was brutal to him).

The team finished her off that round, but with a heavy heart, as they had just witnessed the chaos-bound spirit rend the earth in twain to destroy their musical friend.

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  4A!  (Yes, I did this one last--I was playing as Fanatic in a PBF game, so I didn't have access to her deck.)

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes.

Final Hero HP Totals:  Visionary [8]; Tempest [10]; Scholar [18]; Fanatic [10]; Nightmist [10]

This was a pretty standard game, all things considered.  Scholar did his tanking thing, Visionary managed to pull a Twist the Ether for Tempest in the first round, so zombies were no challenge at all, especially once Tempest pulled Grievous Hailstorm and could wipe all the minions and zombies in one go.  Pretty much everyone ended up in their optimal situation:  Nighmist had all 4 of her relics in play, Fanatic had Absolution and Zealous Offense rolling, as well has her Aegis for protection, and Tempest was doling out the harshness with Gene-Bound Shackles and lots of Chain Lightning and Lightning Slashes.

One of the neat things, though, was the interaction between Gloomweaver and the Portal Fiend.  Since he was second highest HP for most of the game, the Portal Fiend took chunks out of him for a good long while!

I am going to try something a little different (I hope nobody minds). I am going to put up the battle with the villain, environment, and maybe a hero or two. However, you can pick the rest of the heroes. Simply go here, and see what the starting hp of that hero is. After the game, simply put in the hp that the hero ended with.

If a hero isn;t used taht much that week, they will regain more hp.

You can only use a hero once in a week. So, if there are multiple games that week, that hero cannot appear in more than one game.

Unless otherwise stated, you can play the game with any number of players.

I will post the 2 scenarios soon, but with only 2, I am not sure if one will be limited to core only.

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  5A!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes!  In a weird one!

Final Hero HP Totals:  The Scholar [29]; Tempest [26]; Visionary [23]; Unity [14]

Omnitron X Components in Play:  6 (One of each type, plus an extra Gaussian Coil Blaster)

I had fully gone into this one expecting to lose, but my heroes actually ended out the game stronger at the end than at the beginning!  I started the game with two Don't Dismiss Anythings, which got all of my characters ready to roll right off the bat.  While I wasn't able to damage Spite much at the start--that's kind of his thing, so I'd expected it--I was able to get a Cleansing Downpour early on and keep both my heroes and Unity's bots healthy.  A few Hasty Augmentations even let Tempest use Cleansing Downpour more often, which let everyone heal up nicely!

When Spite flipped, Scholar had enough cards in his hand to fuels 3 straight rounds of Alchemical Redirection/Flesh to Iron, which allowed Unity to utterly maul Spite!  By the end of the game, Unity had 6 Omnitron components out, as well as 6 other Golems.   She was a titan!

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  5B!

Did the Heroes Win?:  Yes, though it was surely close!

Final Hero HP Totals:  Ra [9]; Haka [7]; Fanatic [2]; Nightmist [9]

Chalk this one up to some good draws and a well-timed Obsidian Field.  Nightmist took a beating through the first half of the game, though a Round 1 Call Forth allowed her to get out the Amulet and start redirecting nearly every turn.  However, after an Obsidian Field came out, I had Fanatic drop Divine Focus, pinging an extra 3 hp off of Dawn each round.  Nightmist also Mistbound Dawn's deck, buying us some time and keeping down the number of minions overall.

Haka and Ra just sort of did their usual schtick, blasting away with fire and taiaha as normal.

Citizen Spring: 6

Citizen Anvil: 6

Citizen Assault: 0

Visionary: 19

Argent Adept: 13

Chrono-Ranger: 18

Pterodactyl Thief: 5

Lost at the start of turn 2 owing to the new conditon given Dawn is a Citizen,Citizen Anvil practically negates the heroes and this team doesn't do much damage. (H) citizens is incredibly harsh given you start with (H), including Dawn, so if Dawn plays a Citizen, you have to kill two of them with no set up to not die immediately. God help you if Truth is one of the first in play.

Heroes chosen randomly which did make this a lot harder than it needed to be.

5b: Heroes win. 6 HP each unless otherwise noted. Legacy, Unity, Wraith (5), Bunker (7), and Ra. Legacy opened with an Inspiring Presence in hand, and Bunker used an External Combustion to effectively wipe Dawn's board for a couple turns. Wraith's Eyepiece buried one Aurora, but the other snuck up while Dawn was merged with the sun, and things got dicey for a bit after that. Then Bunker shut down the environment deck for two turns running and that was all she wrote.

Chapter 6 - The End Game

*The Earth begins to shake*

Argent Adept: We may have stopped Akash'bhuta temporarily, but she is coming back. The Moon is causing her havoc. We have to do something!

Legacy: We can try and stop her or fix the moon? Any suggestions?

Chrono-Ranger: *stars off into the distance* Thanks Con! Blade is being held F.I.L.T.E.R. in the Block. If we can get to him, maybe he can fix this.

Legacy: Maybe, but we can't rely on him cooperating. Any plan Bs?

Chrono-Ranger: Well, if he won't fix it now, maybe we can stop it then. If we find the precise point in time, maybe we can stop it before it happens.

Tachyon: If I can access the Moblie Defense Platform's main Computer Room before it blew up, I may be able to stop it.

*The Earth shakes more violently.*

Argent Adept: Those might work, but we have to do something about her now! If we don't stop her, she may kill millions!

Visionary: Maybe I can help. Maybe we can move the fight where there are no innocent bystanders. I won't be able to keep her there for long, so we can't trap her there, but we might have enough time to take her down.

Legacy: Tachyon, Wraith, Bunker, and Absolute Zero, your with me. Let's see if we can find that Main Computer Room. Chrono-Ranger, whenever you are ready.

Chrono-Ranger: I will head to the Block. I know the warden there, and we shouldn't have any problems. Haka, Ra, Mr. Fixer, Expatriette, your with me.

Vsionary: Argent Adept, Tempest, Scholar, Nightmist, and Fanatic, you're with me.

Fanatic: Thanks, but I have something to do.

UNity: What about me!

Tachyon: Stay here with your new bot. Someone needs to protect what's left.

Legacy: Ok, everybody! Let's go!

Chapter 6A - Lost in Time

Tachyon: There it is, the Main Computer Room.

La Capitan: Who dares trek on MY highway!

Legacy: Protect her until she can finish!

Setup

Villains: Advanced La Capitan

-Siege-Breaker in indestructible (I just had to)

Heroes (in any order): Legacy, Tachyon, Wraith, Bunker, and Absolute Zero

-Tachyon starts with 0 cards, and she skips her first 6 turns (she is working on the computer)

 Environment: The Time Cataclysm

-At the start of the game, put the Main Computer Room into play.

-If the Main Computer Room is destroyed or leaves play during the first 6 rounds of play, the heroes lose the game.

Chapter 6B - Prison Riot

*The heroes appear in the middle of a battle.*

Chrono-Ranger: What happened here?

Warden: those self -proclaimed Egyptian gods are trying to break their friends out.

Ra: Not again. Let's take them down for good this time.

Setup

Villains: Advanced Ennead & Advance Baron Blade

-If Baron Blade is killed, the players lose this scenario.

Heroes (in any order): Chrono-Ranger, Ra, Haka, Mr. Fixer, and Expatriette

 Environment: The Block

-Shuffle Osiris, Nephthys, and Nuit into the Environment deck. They are only considered inmate for the card Prison Riot. If they come into play, they are now in play for good (unless killed).

-Shuffle Baron Blade into the Environment Deck. He is only considered an inmate for Prison Riot. If he comes into play, put him into play Vengeful Mad Scientist side up. Baron Blade does not deal damage if he was dealt damage during the previous round (stunned).

Chapter 6C - The End of Time

*As the shimmering subsides, the heroes see a baron wasteland.*

Tempest: Where are we?

Visionary: Are inevitable conclusion.

*Akash'Bhuta solidifies, and the ground beings to shake.*

Argent Adept: No point in waiting. Let's go!

Setup

Villains: Advanced Akash'bhuta

PlatinumWarlock's Results:  6A!

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes, in a hard-fought match.  This one was rough!

Final Hero HP Totals:  Legacy [11]; Tachyon [9]; Wraith [10]; Bunker [Incapacitated]; Absolute Zero [11]

This one started out absolutely brutally, with La Capitan pulling most of her crew out on round 1, including SiegeBreaker, Final Breath, and the viking whose name I can never remember.  Bunker managed to pull off two consecutive External Combustions before falling into the "lowest HP" trap and going under.  However, his incap ability to play a card really helped AZ and Wraith start to get ahead of La Capitan's card destruction.

After I managed to pull the Legacy Ring and Motivational Charge, the tide really started to turn.  My hp evened out and AZ was able to start pumping off Thermal Shockwaves.  Inspiring Prescence really helped, as well.  Tachyon didn't do much, but she had a well-timed Hypersonic Assault that kept us from taking a lot of damage.  Wraith's Inventory Barrage clinched the win for us, though, dealing 18 damage and setting up La Capitan nicely for AZ's Impale...

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes, barely, in an absolutely absurd match that went down to the final possible shot!

Final Hero HP Totals:  Chrono-Ranger [Incap]; Ra [Incap]; Haka [3]; Mister Fixer [Incap] Expatriette [3].

Ooof.  This was madness.  The only thing that kept me alive in this one were two well timed Ground Pounds and Fixer's incap abilities, which kept fueling Expatriette's damage output.  I was on track for a much earlier victory until all three of the Ennead broke out of The Block in sequential order, which lengthened the match significantly.

This one, for future record?  This was a ton to track, between the Ennead's normal shenanigans, Baron Blade's damage, and the Block's shuffling.  Just a touch much to deal with...

Did the Heroes Win?  Yes, a glorious triumph!

Final Hero HP Totals:  Argent Adept [7]; Scholar [17]; Tempest [15]; Nightmist [27]; Visionary [12]

While this game was really lengthy, I ended up with some good flops and ended up chaining Don't Dismiss Anything, Silver Shadow, Mistbound, and several of Visionary's deck-control cards throughout the entirety of the game.  Truthfully, the only reason that Argent Adept came close to dying was because of that vicious little Chupacabra, who kept going after him instead of Scholar or Nightmist.

As much as the last two matches were close, this one was a blowout!  Yay for a saved Multiverse!

6A: Heroes lost. Kind of hard not to when she has 16 cards under her on her flip side.

La Capitan: 58

Battle Forged: 13

Trueshot: 9

Siege-Breaker: 10

Final Breath: 11

La Paradoja Magnifica: 15

Main Computer Room: 9

Tendrils of Madness: 7

Heroes got stomped as La Captian kept bringing out nore and more crew until they were just overwhelmed by being pounded on again and aagain. Even Plunder coming out with a Fixed Point didn't save them. Of course the second and third didn't do that.
