Quick question on O-X's Reactive Plating Subroutine

"Whenever O-X is dealt damage of a type reduced by a Plating card"...does that mean the damage actually has to be reduced, or just that it happens to be of the type that your current Plating reduces?  In other words, if the damage is irreducible, can it trigger RPS if it's the right type, or does being irreducible automatically prevent RPS from applying?  (I played it on the assumption it was the latter, and we still won, so I figure I made the right call.  Though it sure was close.)

It doesn't have to be reduced.  Damage just has to be dealt to Omnitron-X.  Whether it's at least 3 regular damage or 1 or more irreducible damage of the Plating's type, the Reactive Plating Subroutine will trigger.

The key I think is that it says “of a TYPE reduced”, so its the type being reduced, and not the particular instance that actually matters.

A few things here, just to clarify. 

1) the damage dealt must share a damage type with your current plating

2) you must actually take some damage for subroutine to trigger. 

Example: you have elemental chassis out and Set deals you 2 lightning damage. Now, the condition for 1 was met (matching types), but since omniX would take no damage (2-2=0), subroutine would not trigger.  

And this is why I like Omni-10 against Rat, because you get out your RPS and Ablative Coating, and then you're guaranteed to plink Rat automatically at the end of his turn, every turn, and if you're Infected, at the start of your own turn, every turn. Counter the damage (mostly) by getting out both Innervation Rays and you can whittle him down pretty nicely :).

Yeah, it's pretty sweet. Ironically, the most fragile-looking heroes (Omnitron-X and The Sentinels) are some of the most effective against him. Medico has Hippocratic Oath, after all.

Ooh, good thinking - automatic heals at the start and end of your turn then (assuming Medico is Infected, obviously) :D.

I suppose it’s kind of fitting that the characters who make the least sense being infected (a lightbulb, a ink stain, and a toaster) are the ones best equipped to turn that infection into an advantage.

I particularly like it when Nightmist is Infected and she uses her Amulet to redirect the damage to Plague Rat.  I think of it as her being feverish and then magically bringing her delusions to life Dreamer-style and attacking The Rat with them.  (Sadly, Visionary herself cannot do the same.)
