I've seen references on the forum to other Vengeance villains who don't have their own decks.  But there's never enough context in the reference for me to understand exactly what's going on.  Is it that Ermine or Fright Train or whoever has cards who are actually these other villains (as targets or something)?  Anyone with Vengeance care to explain how that all works?

If you look at the wiki, the V5 decks list the mini-nemesis targets that are in their decks.

Each V5 has 4, Blade has 5.  21 in all.  (I asked a similar question earlier)

You are correct, there are targets in each of the V5 decks that are nemeses of all of the non F5.  For example, Hippo is one of the decks and is a nemesis of Haka.

Each member of the V5 has several minor villains in their deck (as villain cards).  Each of these minor villains have a nemesis symbol, does a thing, and have an additional effect that triggers if their specific nemesis is in play.

EDIT: apparently we've all been wanting to write that for a while now.

In each V5 deck there is an assortment of "Nemesis" targets. One can be found for each current hero, one for the two heros from the next expansion, and a final one that is unaccounted for (my money says its a mini-expansion hero and the girl from Blighted Streets/Vigilance).

They are all nasty in their own way, and get even worse if they see their arch rival on the field!

You've been waiting to write it…

Ive been /DYING/ to post them on the wiki.

They are target cards in the vengeance decks, and the reason we know the 3 new nemesis icons is because they all have a base effect (Cause 2 damage at end of turn for instance) and an /additional/ effect  IF their Nemesis is in the game (If Chrono Ranger is active in this game, do 1 more damage)

I've been waiting to talk about Zhu Long, with his bring back from the dead power as the reason DW Fixer is back to life.

I was looking at the wiki while you were updating those and it was BLOWING MY MIND. Thank you for your work on the wiki.

Oh, man, that's some great stuff (here's the list from the wiki).

Best name ever - Man Grove.

I want to know more about every one of them.

I had made a previous post where I said I thought it would be cool if all those other villains in the background of the Vengeance pic each got their own deck so we could weave them in with the V5 and not have to only fight the same V5 villains over and over again.  I guess the fact that all of those villains are actually already in the V5 decks lowers the chance that they'd get their own V5-style deck, which is a shame.

In playtesting, we actually talked about taking all of the nemeses out and making them into a separate "minion" deck.  There's 21 of them, so pretty close to a standard villain deck.  You'd still need some sort of card to drive them, but I could totally see using them like a sidekick deck for some easier villains to spice them up.  Maybe team up with Ambuscade, Gloomweaver (original), or Baron Blade?

Ooh, I particularly love that idea for Ambuscade.  Him arranging to distract his prey with a bunch of escaped villains sounds particularly Ambuscadey.

Ambuscade appears quite a bit in Vengeance, and always with sufficient backup from friends.

They could form a team of villainous mercenaries, you would just play the top one each round.

That would juice up any villain.

Yah, I just meant you would need some card to drive them if you wanted them to be a full-on, independent villain.  ^ This is exactly how I'd play them as a "sidekick".

Agreed.

I want to know more about every one of them.

I for one don't especially give a damn about, say, Hermetic or Major Flay.  We already know who Vyktor is, and there's probably not much to know about Citizen Slash or The Hippo (we already know Slash isn't Expat's father, which pretty much answers the only question I really had about him).  I'd say I only want to know more about maybe 2/3 or 3/4 of them (assuming you don't count the Crackjaws as individuals; that would make it closer to 4/5).

I still think it'd be worth houseruling.  Frankly, given what I've heard about Vengeance, it seems like a MASSIVE act of over-compression; I wanted the V5 to be fully-playable solo villains that are just capable of being slotted together into a team, but instead they're 5 cards short and have another 4 (5 for Blade) cards per deck which are random other villains working for them, which are always the same per deck…I'm rather disappointed.  Stripping those targets out to create new decks around them, then adding 9 (10 for Blade) cards to each deck, roughly quadrupling their HP (probably more for Fright Train and less for the two females, for flavor reasons - not that women can't be tough, of course, it just doesn't seem to fit either of their styles, as they seem more likely to dodge blows rather than enduring them), and patching whatever rules no longer work without the teamwork mechanic (about which I know nothing, I'm just presuming there is one) seems like an eminently worthwhile project.  And once that's done, we can start expanding these mini-nems into 20-card mini-decks for a Vengeance-style game, if not into full decks (creating whole new character cards for them).  Many would presumably be diff-1 villains, which the game badly needs more of.

The Hippo has to have an awesome backstory.

No way Christopher was like:

"Okay, we have a guy in a hippo suit, no need to explore that, who's next?"

Characters like The Hippo with their incredibly simple names and theme require awesome backstory.

Haka and Con go way back, necessarily.  e.g.  Hippo is Con!
