As revealed here, there was an alt character card laying on a desk at the Vengeance launch party.  That promo confuses me a little.  It's obviously an alt Argent Adept (red hair, instrument, same nemesis symbol), but his power says "Reveal the top card of any 2 decks.  Put 1 card into play and the other into the trash."  He's got no way to activate his Performs on his own, making him really dependent on his instruments.  That is an interesting take on the character but seems to gimp him pretty hard.  Thoughts?

[EDIT] I'd delete this if I could, because it seems like people have begun talking about this card in the Sentinels Wiki topic already.

Well a seperate thread would be a better place to discuss it.

As I said in the other one it works really well with inventive preparation's perform (would need to Accompany Alacritous Subdominant to use it that way) and Vernal Sonata.

Could have some very different combos using that power.

I am not too thrilled with it because it can target Villain decks, and discarding the top card of the villain deck is pretty dang powerful in many circumstances.  To do that and put a hero card in play is really strong, even for Adept.

I like it. I've been thinking he needs a new power. It does put a lot more emphasis on his instruments, which will probably balance out what could be a very, very useful power.

How many people looked at his HP first? I personally did, as I really wanted to know if they would make it go any lower.

I wonder if that was Argent Adept's predecessor, a previous Virtuoso of the Void.

Maybe the red hair's a coincidence.

Maybe the role makes you a ginger, or somehow harnesses their natural evil energies for good or something.

I'm still hoping there was a forgotten hair metal-era virtuoso.  Somehow make the Adept more damage focused.

Something awesome like:

Ballroom Blitz:  Increase all damage dealt by Argent adept this turn by X, where X = the number of instruments used this turn.  You may use a power now.

OK, so maybe this needs to exist.

That would be sweet!

See what I did there?

I thought we knew that this Adept was a bartender before, and this one shows him just back at the bar on the incapacitated side. I think perhaps this is an earlier version of him but the same guy.

Kvothe is the main character in Patrick Rothfuss's fantasy series The Kingkiller Chroniclers, about a legendary hero who was, among other things, a famed musician but at the time the story is being told is a "simple bartender."  It's a crossover promo like Legacy in the BattleCon game.

(note - christopher asked me to take down the pics - I assume we can still talk about it, but if you have pics, keep them to yourselves for now  :) )

I must say, I started freaking out when I saw the Kvothe pictures. I immediately thought of him upon seeing the Argent Adept the first time, so it is wild that he's here foreal. It is also fitting that his power is crazyy~

As far as I can tell, those circumstances are limited to the following:

a) The Wraith, The Visionary or Nightmist saw multiple horrible cards on top of the Villain deck and had to put one back on top.

b) Tempest used Into the Stratosphere to put a card on top of the Villain deck, and you want to get rid of it.

c) You are playing against Spite and want to get more Victims on the table.

(c)(i) The Visionary put Thiago on top of Spite's deck with Suggestion.

d) You want to trigger a reshuffle.

In any other circumstance I can think of, you would prefer to reveal the top cards of two Hero decks so that you have a choice about which Hero card to put into play, and don't get randomly hosed by having to decide whether you would prefer to put the Electropulse Explosive or Inventory Barrage in play.

I was under the understanding that we were supposed to keep this quiet. I was quite surprised when I saw pictures show up on the forums. Guess the cat is out of the bag now!

Ok, I Love the Argent Adept, so I assumed the next time we saw him it would be the version that was at the launch party... But now we have the Prime Wardens version (very exciting btw)... Did I miss something and just didn't get the memo for this one? Or has it not been released/made available yet?

This, or it was a special thing made for a special purpose. We actually have no idea why that card was there or why it was made.

It did, however, involve someone else's IP. I'd wager that's why we don't know more.

Since its a riff off another IP, it could be used as a promotional item for a non-SotM product. Just a thought.

There was never a whole lot of discussion about the power as mentioned in the top of the thread. Personally, I expect it will be a good power. It gives a pretty good chance of finding Arcane Cadence, which is super-useful for getting to key cards, and in general getting set up faster. I don't think he'll have any trouble finding Instruments with that power.
