If you get to play a card out of turn, and you play one that has you immediately end your turn, is that text ignored or does it apply to the turn that is actually occuring?
The case I am looking at is:
Omnitron-X uses Timeshift and reveals top card of the Scholar. The Scholar reveals and plays Know When to Hold Fast.
I am sure there are other combos though.
Thanks for the clarification.

It does not apply, at is is Scholar's card thus would affect his turn. However since it isn't his turn, it can't do anything. So he gets a free 5 cards without having to make a sacrifice to get them.

Nice.
That's how we played it.
Thanks.

Works really well with Prayer of desperation, divine focus and Adept too.

I'd like to hijack this topic to bring up a similar question(s). Let's say Omnitron-X uses Timeshift on Tachyon. She draws the card that says "Every Player may draw a card. You may play a card." Does Tachyon get to play a card, even if its not her turn?
Let's say Omnitron-X uses Timeshift on another hero, who plays a One-Shot card that says "You may use an additional power this turn." Since its currently Omnitron's turn, does that mean once its that character's turn that they get to use two Powers? Or do they simply not get to utilize that portion of the card text (much like the above situation with the Scholar ending his turn).
Basically what I'm asking is, when a card is put into play when its not that character's turn, how much of what is on the card happens right then? Do any of the effects get carried over until it is their turn, like additional powers, play phases, etc.? What affects simply don't happen, since its out of turn?

She would indeed play a card. A good rule of thumb in situations like these is "the card is always right". If the card tells you to do something, you can do it.

If something tells you can "play a card this turn" it doesn't matter if it's your turn or not, you can play a card this turn!
Similarly if something tells you "You can use an additional power this turn" then 0 powers + an additional power is 1 power, you can use it now or you can choose not to use it but you "lose" the additional power if you don't use it immeadiately.

Yes; Tachyon gets to play out the entire card.
I believe that it means that this turn (Omnitron-X's turn) the hero with the one-shot gets to use an additional power (1 instead of 0). I'm not sure if they have to use it immediately or can wait and choose what part of Omni-X's turn to use their power in. (e.g. if Omni-X has played Slip Through Time, can the other player use their power after Omni-X's second play/power since it's still his turn?)
It all happens when the card is played. Playing Overdrive out of turn is very nice for Mr. Fixer.

It also works well if he has another Power to use, due to the Rod of Anubis or a stolen Talisman or something. You play Overdrive on your turn, then during your Power Phase, you have two things going on - the game rules say "you can use a power", and Overdrive says "you may use your Strike power twice". Thusly, if you use Strike once, the first condition has been fulfilled, then the second lets you use Strike one more time, and you're done. But if you use the other Power first, fulfilling the first condition, the second condition still lets you Strike twice.
(I find myself hoping that at least one hero in Vengeance might have the ability to grant extra Powers for the use of the player you play the card on, and that there will also be an Overdrive-like card, so that this interaction can be specifically called out in the rulebook for the set. This is pure speculation, but I feel as if it would fit the Idealist well to be able to grant such shenanigans, either to other Sentinels members or to a completely different hero.)

Are you talking about using Overdrive and have another power use? This has already been clarified 9check out Spiff's clarification doc), and it works like you described.

Yeah I know, I just think it's a cool and surprising enough detail to be worth calling attention to in the actual rulebook (which could stand a great deal of improvement IMO). It's cool that Spiff and other members of the community have stepped up to round out what >G have created…but after two very successful years, I think >G themselves ought to be taking that responsibility, and taking their product to the next level of professionalism. (The EE has some embarassing typos in it, and the lack of an FAQ for cards which are easy to misinterpret leads to a lot of needing to ask questions on this forum, the same questions often being asked over and over. It would reflect well on >G to eventually step up and address such issues, even if it's very understandable if they don't.)
On an unrelated note, this is the other topic which seems to consistently crash my browser the first time I visit it, just about every browsing session. I wonder what it and the other one I mentioned have in common.

Great; that's kind of what I had been speculating. Thanks for answering all my questions!
