I'm not sure if anyone's tried this before. Probably; it's not a particularly revolutionary idea. What it is, is this: fight multiple villains, one after another, with the same team, without resetting them. So they keep their equipment and hands, but also keep their wounds. You could do it with a specific pair of villains you wanted to fight in sequence, or you could take a team and fight their nemeses one after the other. As for me, I want to fight them all. The plan is to take on every villain, one after the other, in the following rough difficulty order:
Baron Blade, Omnitron, Gloomweaver, *, Akash'Bhuta, Kismet, Apostate, Mad Bomber Blade, Plague Rat, Spite, La Capitan, Grand Warlord Voss, Cosmitron, Citizen Dawn, Miss Information, The Ennead, The Dreamer, The Matriarch, The Organisation, Iron Legacy
*I don't own Ambuscade.
I'll die, of course, I just want to see how far I'll get (and invite others to give it a go as well). As for the environment, whenever I need to reshuffle it I'll swap it out for a new one, leaving any environment cards in play (though removing them from play when they're destroyed). Here's an order for them, too:
Insula Primalis, Silver Gulch, Time Cataclysm, The Final Wasteland, The Block, Realm of Discord, Ruins of Atlantis, Pike Industrial Complex, Tomb of Anubis, Megalopolis, Wagner Mars Base, Rook City
So Legacy, Team Leader Tachyon, Tempest, The Scholar and Omnitron-X started off against Baron Blade. It was a pretty tough fight, but the team came out with a decent selection of cards in play.
HP totals: Legacy - 18, Tachyon - 17, Tempest - 16, The Scholar - 22, Omnitron-X - 19
The Scholar finished off the Baron by Keep Moving out three Solid to Liquids and two Mortal Form to Energies and blasting him. I mention this because Omnitron's first play was a Sedative Flechettes, nuking the whole combo. Ah well; with the aid of a triple Lightspeed Barrage, Omni went down pretty quickly.
HP totals: Legacy - 6, Tachyon - 15, Tempest - 15, The Scholar - 14, Omnitron-X - 16
Well, a lucky draw combined with my existing set-up made Gloomweaver a cake-walk. I'm really itching to get onto the hard villains...
HP totals: Legacy - 11, Tachyon - 17, Tempest - 13, The Scholar - 17, Omnitron-X - 17
Again, a bad draw made Akash'Bhuta trivial. I suppose this would have been harder using a team that doesn't have healing coming out of the wazoo; as it is, the team appears to have hit their peak, and show no sign of coming down. (As an aside, I've never really played Liquid-Energy Scholar before; the ability to have six Elemental forms out at once is helping me to see that side of him.)
HP totals: Legacy - 15, Tachyon - 20, Tempest - 20, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 19
Ba da bum bum bum, Kismet bites the dust! We're now in Silver Gulch, not that it makes much of a difference.
HP totals: Legacy - 18, Tachyon - 19, Tempest - 23, The Scholar - 26, Omnitron-X - 19
I spent a moment worrying about Apocalypse against Apostate, but at this point I have plenty of Ongoing destruction hanging around. Dawn's going to be a fun fight though...
HP totals: Legacy - 22, Tachyon - 21, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 22
DEVIOUS DISRUPTION. I hate Devious Disruption, especially when I have... 41 Ongoing and Equipment cards in play. 35 destroyed cards later, everyone takes 9 damage. Baron bloody Blade...
HP totals: Legacy - 18, Tachyon - 16, Tempest - 22, The Scholar - 24, Omnitron-X - 19
I don't like Plague Rat. We got Rook City after all the other game stuff, and went into a Plague Rat fight expecting it to be easy, then got our arses kicked. Thus, giving him a beatdown was very satisfying :D
HP totals: Legacy - 23, Tachyon - 18, Tempest - 23, The Scholar - 27, Omnitron-X - 21
Matthew Hayes killed Spite. That was nice of him.
HP totals: Legacy - 25, Tachyon - 19, Tempest - 24, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 21
These one-turn kills are getting silly... Maybe I should have done this on Advanced.
HP totals: Legacy - 27, Tachyon - 24, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 25
Grand Warlord Voss is vanquished. Poor him. (These HP totals were supposed to measure dwindling health. That didn't really work out...)
HP totals: Legacy - 28, Tachyon - 24, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 25
Cosmitron is dead.
HP totals: Legacy - 28, Tachyon - 27, Tempest - 24, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 25
Citizen Dawn is dead.
HP totals: Legacy - 26, Tachyon - 28, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 25
Miss Information was a fun change of pace. (And I hate Miss Information normally...) Not being able to nuke the baddie made it a much more interesting fight, and took out some of my resources to boot.
HP totals: Legacy - 28, Tachyon - 25, Tempest - 25, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 24
The Ennead are dead.
HP totals: Legacy - 29, Tachyon - 22, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 24
The Dreamer is alive, and thank the gods, this is starting to get harder.
HP totals: Legacy - 27, Tachyon - 28, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 18
The Matriarch is dead, and I'm bored again.
HP totals: Legacy - 31, Tachyon - 28, Tempest - 26, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 22
The Chairman is dead, and this is almost over...
HP totals: Legacy - 29, Tachyon - 28, Tempest - 25, The Scholar - 29, Omnitron-X - 23
It's over. Iron Legacy is dead. I WIN.
Conclusions: Do not do this. Once you're set up, it is boring. Or, alternately, don't pick so many heroes with healing, or who can pour cards into your hand, and play on Advanced, and maybe don't start easy. The idea may be workable, but this is not the way to do it.
