Fanatic vs. Apostate

Would the card Zealous Offense in Fanatic's deck cancel out the damage from the card Condemnation in the Apostate's deck.  There has been some argument about that in our group since Apostate technically deals the damage on the card Condemnation, but without that card he wouldn't be able to do that damage.  We would like to have an official ruling.

Since Apostate deals the damage, the damage still goes through.

Compare this to Gauntlet of Perdition. If Zealous Offense is played on GoP, then the extra 1infernal damage from GoP will be blocked.
