Flame Barrier Wording

"The first time RA is dealt damage by a target each turn, Ra deals that target 2 fire damage"

If I understand this correctly. This can only happen ONCE per turn. correct? Because yesterday, there was adiscussion about the wording. It can be interpretted if different targets hit him, he deals each those targets 2 fire damage. I assumed it was the furst time he was dealt damage, redirect it. 

Can somone clarify this?

It's once PER TARGET so it can happen a lot with a lot of enemies hiting him. Contrast with NightMist's Amulet which just says the first time per turn.
