Greetings, Sentinels fans!

I’ve made you a set of documents! When we launch our new site in a couple weeks here, these will be available to anyone and everyone as downloads, but we wanted to preview them here first. Most of this stuff the playtesters have already seen, but we love all our forum-goers and wanted to get this out to all of you so you’ll have an idea of what’s coming.

Here are the changes for the Sentinels of the Multiverse: Enhanced Edition heroes!

And here are the changes for the Sentinels of the Multiverse: Enhanced Edition villains!
And also there are changes to the Sentinels of the Multiverse: Enhanced Edition environments!
These documents have 1-to-1 ratio copies of the text portions of the changed cards, so you can print them out and put them in sleeves with your original edition cards to update them. If you do so, make sure you set the printer to print at 100% of the size of the document.

Anyway, enjoy! And feel free to give feedback in case I (GASP!) did something wrong!

-Christopher

As instructed, boss, on the Visionary’s sheet, ther Brain Burn text is the text for Tempest’s Vicious Cyclone, which I’m pretty sure isn’t right.

I’ve found 2 typos.

Hostage situation says “each player may discard 1 card each.” 2 eachs are redundant.
Self-Destruct sequence says “this card are destroyed.”

Also, Omnitron doesn’t seem to be fixed nearly as much as you seemed to imply it would be. You said that “all of these things have been addressed,” referring to the drones not being powerful enough, components being destroyed too easily, the bomb not going away at the end of the turn, technological singularity doing lots of damage to heavy equipment users, and sedatives being OP, and yet none of these have been changed in any way.

Er, I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about . . . whistles innocently (Thanks! Fixed.)

I never said that Omnitron would be rewritten entirely. In fact, I have said many time that the game is staying the same. Minor adjustments have been made, but Omnitron is not meant to have the power that Voss or Dawn does, so the drones and components have not been significantly upgraded. The Electro-Pulse Explosive is still as great of a threat as it has always been. And Technological Singularity is awful to Equipment users. Sedative Flechettes is awful to Ongoing users. I am sorry you got the impression that Omnitron would be a different Omnitron. Hopefully, you will enjoy Cosmic Omnitron.

I think (but cannot be sure) that you have left out two changes on Fanatics’ cards, that of mentioning the change from Equipment to Relic on “Absolution” and Aegis of Resurrection

Hrm. I dunno if you accidentally changed something when correcting Visionary, but right now, it seems like the bookmark/TOC for Visionary is broken. When I click on any other character’s name in the navigation bar, it goes right to them. When I click on Visionary, nothing.

Ah, true! Both Absolution and the Aegis of Resurrection are now Relics, as well as being Equipment and Limited. Good catch!

This probably isn’t the thread to discuss this but “Consider the price of Victory” seems oddly worded.
If it gets played in any turn other than the Villain turn it could be a lot more powerful, was it designed to be so?
If it were played due to Blighted Streets (Rook City) during the Environment turn then it would discard more than just the cards specifically discarded by “Consider the price of Victory” (and don’t even get me started on thinking about having multiple Blighted Streets in play and it coming up!), though I admit this is stretching the possible combination of cards coming up to breaking point.

I have a quetsion about “S-84 AUtomation Drone” from it’s wording, it seems that it’s HP will ALWAYS be 1-5.
HP = *
*= (H)

Should it be starting HP?

CH

Well, just like any other target, the HP on the card never changes, but you note that it decreases as it takes damage. The number in the corner of the card will always be 3, 4, or 5, but when it takes damage, it takes it normally.

Wow… that “and Relics” rider on End of Days is interesting.

Question(s) about Citizen Blood: If Citizen Sweat is in play, does he do 1 to the lowest hero and 1 to everyone? Is that a change from the current edition?

Bunker Upgrade Mode. To be consistent, you should mention what he can do first before what he cannot do.

Fanatic Aegis of Resurrection. 2nd occurrence of Fanatic should be in italics.

Zealous Offense. ‘you’ should be Fanatic.

Chastise, Zealous Offense, Final Dive, etc. Consistency of ‘non-character target’ and ‘target other than a character card’.

Staff of Ra. First 2 Ra in italics.

Fleet of Foot. Nemesis or Nemeses?

Vicious Cyclone. Tempest in italics.

Tempest incapacitated. Heroes? Heroes targets? Heroes characters?

In addition, how about including an errata for Rook City Wraith’s Sleulth spelling error?

For the environment decks, it is rather awkward to insert a half card size printout in front of the 1st ed environments, becos the upper half of the card will still show words. I suggest providing the full card length with art for the environment decks for better usability and readability.

Decoy Projection is no longer both an Ongoing and a Target! The fact that it’s a Distortion is interesting. I look forward to seeing how that interacts with everything else!

I’ll miss the 5HP version of The Staff of Ra, but it’s still pretty amazing.

And, as mentioned before, The Wraith’s HP is now 27 instead of 26 isn’t it?

I had time to look at the villains and environments. More errors spotted.

Baron Blade Text Front Gameplay. 2nd paragraph. 2 instances of Baron Blade in italics.

Baron Blade. Text Front says Mobile Defense Platform without quotes. Text Back uses quotes. Consistency needed.

Citizen Dawn Text Back. Gameplay. First two words. Citizen Dawn in italics.

Citizen Dawn Text Back. Advanced. Citizen Dawn in italics.

Primordial Plant Life. River of Lava. Volcanic Eruption. Police Backup. Toxic Seaweed. Oxygen Leak. Need to add the words “This card” in front of “Deal”.

Rooftop Combat. “in a single round” is inconsistent with “in one round” used in Disintegration Ray and Electro-magnetic Railgun. Consistency needed.

Phosphorescent Chamber. Word “all” missing. i.e. Increase all damage dealth by 1. Increase all HP recovery by 1.

Phosphorescent Chamber. Use of both “discard a card” and “discard 1 card” in the same card text. Consistency needed.

Fire in the Biosphere. I find the effects of Fire in the Biosphere and Primordial Plant Life identical. i.e. Each Hero may destroy 1 Ongoing. If they do, take 2 damage; if they don’t, take 4 damage. It will be better to choose 1 or the other and maintain the same phrasing.

Maintenance level. So far, titles of cards were not in quotes with quoted. So “Self-Destruct Sequence” should not be in quotes here.

Self-Destruct Sequence. “When this card comes into play” should be “When this card enters play”. “Discard top card” should be “Discard the top card”.

If you’re wanting them all to say “all” then Villainous Weaponry needs it too. Same for Blade’s Powered Remote Turret, Dawn’s Citizen Dare, and Voss’ First Lieutenant Vyktor. As well as the Advanced section on their character cards, plus some others possibly. I personally find the “all” part unnecessary, just an extra word that doesn’t need to be there.

These are probably meant to be different, as 2 and 2 damage is a lot different than 2 or 4 damage, plus fire in the biosphere is hitting all targets for the first 2 damage. Damage increases affect both of those cards differrently, a +2 increase would make fire in the bioshpere do 4 and 4, primordial plant life would do 4 or 6.

Would it be possible to get the environment cards changed to original no artwork format? They won't fit in on top of the current original cards...

Also, would it be possible to get printable versions that maximize paper use? Like on absolute zero's sheet it would have 3 coolant blast replacements and 4 onboard module replacements...rather than just one of each with lots of blank space.

I can take a shot at that.  I'll Photoshop up something that puts as many of the half-cards onto a single sheet as possible.  I can even take a crack at adding a set of the changed Environment card rules that are full-card sized, as requested.

I've put together a .zip file with all of the hero inserts.  That was a lot of copy/pasting and I don't want to continue with villains & environments until I'm sure that it's what we want, so please take a look and let me know if this is what you were looking for.

The image quality isn't what I normally like, but all I have to work with is the PDF that's posted on the site, not the original files.  Please let me know if it's acceptable.

ketigid:
it was disheartening to see that the corrections that I've suggested were not implemented.

Just want to make sure you understand the situation, ketigid. The reason your observations were not implemented were because the cards have already been printed; Christopher has documented the changes between the original Core Set and the new Enhanced Set. What you described would have required changes to the Enhanced Set, which isn't an option at this point. :-\

Wanted to make sure you understood it wasn't because you were ignored, just that the changes you suggested weren't applicable to the request. :-(

While it seems most of the corrections ketigid mentioned were for consistency, and we'll see how well that is on the actual cards, there was at least 1 that needed to be noted. On Tempest's incapacitated side it says "Heroes are immune to a damage type of your choice until the start of your next turn.", he was refering to it only saying Heroes and not Hero Targets like other cards got changed to. So if it should be Hero Targets then at the very least it would need to be added to an errata.

Was also wondering if they'll eventually be doing something like this for the Rook City cards that require changes. Mainly the Rook City environment since it mentions the villain character card and only says Heroes instead of Hero Targets in some places. I don't really sleeve my cards much due to limited space, except for a few CCG/TCG decks, but for those that do sleeve their cards, something like this for Rook City would be a big help to them.

I noticed you're using my templates for the environment cards. I've updated them since that version though, with squared borders that are better for sleeved cards and can be trimmed for rounded edge for those that want them, fixed some coloring as well.

EDIT: The templates are complete now as well. Don't foresee any more changes to them besides maybe minor things such as text alignment, but that doesn't affect the graphics of the cards. Got all I need on them now, easy to cut out, very modular with them snapping together better, option of B&W or Color.

Hey Spiff, any chance you could post the card duplicates in a native format (MS word or Open Office, I'm assuming)?  I'm specifically looking to print the villain cards minus the changes to the villain rules cards, since I don't use the wee villain rules cards anymore anyway.  Many thanks if you can do this.  And for that matter, even if you can't.  Your work rocks.

SP

I'm not entirely sure what you're looking for.  All I'm doing is using Photoshop to open the PDF that Christopher published and copying/pasting each card part until there's enough on a page.  Then I turn the page back into a PDF and post it.  So the native format is a Photoshop document, but it's really just full of individual pastes of what you see in Christopher's PDF, nothing editable.  Would that be helpful to you?  I don't have original files of cards with text and images and everything on separate layers.

What does "print the villain cards minus the changes to the villain rules cards" mean?  Isn't a villain card minus the changes just the way the villain card is originally?  Why would you want to print that since presumably, you already have a card in your hand that's like that?

TH

When he says that he doesn't want changes to the villain rules cards, he is refering to the text portion of the villain character card.  Likely he already has the pack of oversized villain cards which have already been fixed, and thus he doesn't need the change set for those cards.

I am basically asking for the document before you printed it to pdf. The reason was I wanted to delete some of the cards before printing the sheet. Specifically, I wanted to remove from the villain sheet the changes to the villain rules cards (the ones that go into play at the very beginning of setup), because I use larger villain cards and didn’t want to waste the ink.

Sure, how about if I just prepare you a special version without the changed villain rules?  I don't think that will be a popular request for most people, but it would be easy enough to do a one-off for you. I've got a couple of things on my plate to finish, but I think I could do that before the weekend. When it's ready, I'll let you know.

Sorry it's taken me so long to finish this, but those environment cards took a lot of typing.  As of now, the file that's available on my site (www.spiffworld.com/sotm) has all the inserts for all the cards.  In addition, I've got a "kronmichael special" file available here (www.spiffworld.com/sotm/files/kronmichael_special.zip) that is just the villain inserts minus the villain card parts.  By removing the villain cards, I was able to move the inserts from the third page onto the first and second page, so not only is kronmichael going to save printer ink this way, but paper too.  Good times.

I don't expect the kronmichael special to be a particularly popular option for most people however, so if you can tell me when you've downloaded that file, kronmichael, I'm going to remove it from my server afterwards.  Thanks.

As a final note, re-typing in all of that text from the environment cards really punctuates something I've been saying from the beginning -- there is far too much space being taken up on cards by the words "at the start of the xxx turn" and "at the end of the xxx turn". I understand the original reasoning behind spelling it out verbosely, but I strenuously posit that the readability of the cards would be vastly improved (and the amount of space available for text that actually does need to be read each time) by turning those two phrases into a simple icon.  I hope that just how Rook City brought us the "H' mechanic, the next expansion could bring us the big "start/end icon" revolution.

Thanks, Spiff. I am not sure why anyone who uses your excellent oversized villain cards would also want to print inserts for cards they don’t use. But might I suggest that if you put those revisions together on a third page appended to the end of my special file, future users could simply decide whether or not they wish to print that page, adding some versatility for those who use your large cards while still covering those who want it all?
