Smoke Bombs with only 1 active hero

Does it still reduce the damage? Since you are both the lowest and the highest hp hero… does it “succeed” in redirecting the damage? Or does the redirection (and thus the mitigation) fizzle?

The redirecting still takes place, though it is redirected from you to you which is kind of silly. What this means, however, is that the reduction does still take place.
