Would this work?

Mr. Fixer has out Driving Mantis, Jack-Handle, and Dynamic Siphon, and the Environment has Supercooled Trisolvent Vat.

1) Mr. Fixer plays Dual Crowbars

2) Supercooled Trisolvent Vat deals 1 cold damage to Mr. Fixer

3) Mr. Fixer redirects the damage to Dynamic Siphon

4) Mr. Fixer uses Strike with both Jack-Handle and Dual Crowbars

5) Dual Crowbars returns Jack-Handle to owner's hand

Repeat on next turn.

It seems like it should work.  My question deals more with how his damage works with both of those tools in play.  I'm sure it came up before with Fixed Point when it came out.

Yeah, the "Whenever Mr. Fixer deals damage" on the cards could have some interesting interaction. If I'm reading them correctly, would the process be:

Fixer uses Strike, and Jackhandle makes it target every enemy. The player chooses one to start. Now, Mr. Fixer has dealt damage, so with the crowbars he gets to deal it again, but with the jackhandle, he hits everyone? And repeat with each target?

It seems like a table with a lot of targets would lead to a lot of instances of damage.

I would guess with the new ruling on Crowbar that you would do a Jackhandle attack and each instance would use Crowbar to hit a second target based on the damage that just occured.

We already know that Jackhandle and Dual Crowbars do not trigger on the extra damage they create, or on friendly fire.  (Infinite loop no)

We know Jackhandle overwrites the original attack to hit all non-hero targets.

We know that Crowbars responds to the initial damage by creating a new instance based on the damage just dealt.

I think it makes sense that Jackhandle not triggering on friendly fire would work similarly with the second part of crowbars, and that crowbars would respond to Jackhandle the same way it would any other all-target attack.

Thanks.  I thought there was a ruling or similar discussion but I couldn't recall offhand.

The app programming looms darkly before you.

I'm not sure what you mean about Jackhandle and Crowbars not triggering on friendly fire. Jackhandle says "Whenever he would deal damage," and it applies to things like self-inflicted Infection damage and being forced to target a hero.

I think Crowbars can, but I know Jackhandle was ruled that it didn't, because it causes a loop of beating everything but Setback.

Basically Jackhandle takes the attack Mr. Fixer (or klepto-Guise) would make and changes the targetting to "all non-hero targets."  Friendly fire adds setback's damage onto that attack, it isn't a seperate attack.

This language is all informal and rulings can change, but that's what I remember.

Oh, you meant the card Friendly Fire, not just friendly fire (targetting a hero card for some reason) in general.

No.

Mr Fixer is not the source of the damage, he is redirecting damage from the Environment.

EDIT: Whoops!

Still no. The effects of the Vat happen before the card text triggers, you wouldn't have the second tool in play before you take/redirect the damage so Strike wouldn't trigger both tools as one of them is still in the "being played" space. If all text on them was active then you would have to return one before you used your power, as the return triggers when it enters play.

Vat responds to cards entering play, it would be in play when the response triggered.

Edit:  And I edited my response as you posted below this one.

Yes, and I realised my mistake and edited my post before your reply was up!

We've also learned that static affect like +1 damage from Inspiring Presence take effect immediately but not the come into play effect.  Using the Vat again if Bunker plays Heavy Plating he wouldn't take any damage.   I think the text for the Tools coming into play and being returned wouldn't apply until that power use by dynamic siphon is resolved.

Nope, you are right, static effects do come into play first. I guess it's legit.

Looks legit to me.  And awesome!

So I guess it would be player’s choice whether to apply the Jack Handle effect or Dual Crowbar effect first?

I don't think so.  Jack handle replaces the damage before it actually happens, whereas Dual Crowbar triggers after damage is done, so they have to happen in that order…  As near as I can tell, any ways.

Thinking about is I realized Negative Energy Field from Realm of Discord could allow you to do the same thing.    It's downside is that the distortions won't stay in play quite as long.
