Because I simply cannot comprehend the awesomeness of Guise, I have a question about how he takes some of Naturalist's powers and makes them better (by making them magenta).

The card in question is, I believe, "I Can Do That, Too." If I recall, the card allows Guise to use a power located on another hero's character card. In this case, because I thought it would be funny, I used Naturalist's power to shapeshift into a Guiselle.

I assumed that the following things were now true:

  1. Guise is a gazelle until he uses Naturalist's power again to become something else (say, a Guisenoceros or an Crocoguise).
  2. Guise has access to the Gazelle's self-healing power, even if the Naturalist is no longer in that form and the Gazelle card is in the Trash, since thanks to Nat's base power, Guise is now 100% being a Guiselle.
  3. Being a magenta and purple gazelle was pretty fun at first, but then it got lame, and then it was fun again, and then lame again, and it evened out to "meh" after a few rounds of cavorting about while the Naturalist breaks stuff in crocodile form.
  4. The Earth is 6000 years old and made entirely out of spackle.

Did I handle that right? The power's shapeshift effect doesn't seem to end until Naturalist uses it again to shapeshift, and since Guise can't do that without copying the power again (or doing Oh Yeah I'm That Guy), then he's a gazelle for life, pretty much, right? And since he's a gazelle, he has access to the gazelle form's power, correct?

The mental image of Guise being a Guiselle and then being stuck that way for the rest of the game is so hilarious that I shot milk out of my nose. I just want to make sure that I carried out the rules correctly.

Well not really. The Naturalist's power allows you to search your deck for one of the form cards, and Guise doesn't have any in his deck so The Naturalist is just a big old meaniepants for not sharing.

But you could use Uh, Yeah, I'm That Guy! to temporaily become whatever the Naturalist had in play, so you could have 2 Rhinocrocozelles with Fixed Point shenanigans!

Guise would search his own deck or trash for a Form card and put it into play.  However, Guise does not have any cards with a keyword of Form and thus it would only result in shuffling Guise's deck.

When we get to the Promo version of the Naturalist then there are some shenanigans you could accomplish with that base power of his.   Until we have the final wording on that promo I'll wait to put anything out.

Well, poop.

Technically speaking, there's nothing in the rules as written that keeps Guise from claiming to be a gazelle and cavorting about as such, and pointing at villains and saying things like, "I destroy your Ongoings! Prance! Bound! Leap!"

Thankfully, Guise hasn't seen this thread, so I'm sure he'll keep on playing it the way that would be the most fun. ;)

Guiselle make me chuckle. I am houseruling this as valid for my games so I can do the same.  Balance be damned!!

The other issue, unless Fixed Point is in play, is that when a Form comes into play it destroys all other Forms in play.   So even if you could search the Naturalist's deck or trash for a Form you would be destroying one that the Naturalist had in play currently.

Also, if I had any ounce of artistic skills I would totally draw Guiselle.

Uh Yeah, I'm that guy does exactly what you are wanting, he gains the current form, that form's power, and ongoing effects.  Although, to be honest, even a Crocazellerous is no match for the mighty Alpaca.

With Uh Yeah I'm That Guy, it would update in "real time" when the Naturalist changes form on his own turn, right? So if I play UYITG on my turn and become whatever Natty is (Guiselle, for shiggles), with all the rights and responsibilities thereof, and then he turns into a Rhino, then I suddenly turn into a Guisenocerous, correct?

I'm wondering if my Photoshop skills are up to the task of creating the feared Guiselle. Hmm. Could be a good day for a long lunch.

That would be correct.   Uh Yeah I'm that Guy doesn't trigger come into play effects but if you copied the Naturalist and he switches forms you do the same.

Yay!

EDIT: wait, you're using it as your avatar. Now you can't post twice in the same thread without deleting/blanking your previous post.

Haha, not sure if silly reference to Naturalist's forms canceling out the previous form, or a warning about an obscure programmatic feature in the forum software that deletes/blanks pics if they're also in one's avatar.

Note that I killed my avatar, just in case.

Never take anything I say seriously, unless I want you to.

Also, highlight all of my posts just in case

That's just part of the fun.

Also, quotes work. I wonder if anyone notices that part?
