Can powers that play cards deal damage?

Some cards mention powers that deal damage. For instance, Unity's Hasty Augmentation or the title Living Weapon. In most cases it's clear what they mean but what about when a power lets a hero play a card, and then that card deals damage? 

For example, suppose Unity plays Hasty Augmentation, and then lets Omnitron-X use a power. Omnitron-X Timeshifts itself, revealing Sedative Flechettes. Do the Flechettes do 2 damage, because the damage comes from playing the card, or 4 damage, because playing the card was part of using a power?

More complicated still, what if Omnitron-X Timeshifts Ra, who reveals a Fire Blast? Or if it Timeshifts Wraith, who reveals an Impromptu Invention and uses THAT to play a Throat Jab? In some sense, all of the events trace back to Omnitron-X's power. But in another sense, each new card seems like a new source.

Is there an unambiguous answer? 

Omnitron-X would only deal only deal 2 damage using the Flechettes, as it's a card being played as a result of a power rather than the power itself dealing damage. The same will be said with Ra getting Fire Blast, it would deal a 5.

If the power plays a card, then that is what the power does.  Expat's load lets you play a card, what that card does is the action of the card, not the power.

So by the same token, a hero like Expatriette could never actually get the Living Weapon title in the first place by using her base power to play a card that destroys a target.

Correct.

In our one battle at home against Kaargra Warfang we had Legacy, the Adept, and Captain Cosmic, I think it was...so when that title came out, no-one was ever able to get it and it just sat there the whole game looking lonely :D.

Guise managed to get it eventually in ours... but first one of Kaargra's Gladiators got it, via the card that puts the top card of the Title Deck under one of them :P

I actually got living weapon on PW Fanatic, because of Bloogo.  Fortunately I had undaunted.  It was also awesome for Guise with Beefcake and I can do that too on his big round.

Nice! We had Super Scientific Tachyon running around the arena getting all the titles - ALL the titles - and in her game-winning turn an Experiment played a Sonic Vortex. She got a lot of favor and then wiped out Kaargra, so I couldn't really resist throwing the title on her. Fortunately we didn't need to bank on it to win the game!
