What is the consensus on when the game actually ends upon the destruction of the villain? For example, will hit-backs like Backlash Field or the Chairman's ability activate when the villain is reduced to 0 or fewer HP (assuming all other conditions for victory have been fulfilled)?
According to the Handelabra/Christopher fireside chat,
However, in my experiments with the digital version of Sentinels, this rule doesn't apply to villains: both Ambuscade (with Reactive Plating) and Baron Blade (with Backlash Field) still get to strike back after being reduced to 0 or fewer HP. This makes it possible for all the characters, villain and hero, to be incapacitated/destroyed (which results in a villain victory, apparently).
At what point do you check for victory? And why do only villains seem to get a pass on striking back from the grave?

You declare it at the point you reach 0, instantly, stop everything else. If it's happening in the video game you should document it as a bug.
I did think they got them all in the last pass but if you're seeing it I guess not.

It's a known bug in the game. It's even listed on their one bug tracking site https://trello.com/b/SiK61v7p/sotm-known-issues

If you're unsure you can always post feedback about the issue. I try to include screenshots if possible. The Handelabra is pretty responsive and even send a follow up email once a build is released with the fix in it.

Yep, that's a bug with Backlash Field & Reactive Plating that will be fixed in the next update.
It's not those cards alone - I also had a situation where Fanatic got incapped partway through using Exorcism: she dealt 1 melee damage to Blade, got incapacitated by a Backlash Field in response, but was then still able to deal the 1 radiant for the second half of the power despite being incapacitated.
Edit: It's Case 12629 if you're looking for the bug report, MigrantP.
