Specifically the circumstance was Hypercortex Stimulater on Kismet with her flipped. First time she does damage is the irreducible to the Talisman. Is the reduction from the Stimulater "used up" or does it apply to the next instance of damage that can actually be reduced?

It's the first time period. The Irreducible damage uses up the Hypercortex reduction (unfortunately).

It would get used up even though the villain isn't doing any damage that can be reduced

If the damage was prevented the DR sticks around, right?

Oh! I was thinking of DR as on a target being hit, not a reduction of damage from the attacker!

Yeah, if damage is prevented (not reduced to 0 but actually prevented) then I guess nothing was dealt so it's not counted as the first time.

But, if it were reduced to 0, there is also nothing dealt (damage dealt = hp were reduced, from Spiff's rules and clarifications). So if it were reduced to 0 before applying that damage reduction, wouldn't it also stick around?

Nope. Checked this in the app.

I also noticed that there is another topic split from this one with good arguements to be made there. Curse of not being able to check this forum daily, and going from oldest to newest, haha.

Oh god, did you find the "first time each turn" damage redirection argument?  If so, I apologize.

Pydro, what setup did you use to check the behavior in the app?  Just out of curiousity.

After being Stun Bolted, Tachy Nimble Striked Haka for (1-1), who had some shielding up. The shielding was gone after the attack.

Next time I had Tachy hit Haka after a throat jab from Maia, Shielding not used up.

Just recently, I played against advance Voss (damage -1), where Maia Stun Bolted Haka (for a second -1), then had Haka use his base power (2 damage) with a Haka of Battle for +1 against Fanatic with Undaunted. The attack was not used up.
