Just thought I'd share a fun little thing that happened to me and my group. This past weekend my friends and I were playing a game with more than a couple promo characters and the Warfang fight and we ended up doing perhaps the most convoluted recursive chain events we've ever done in a single turn. We ended up about five steps deep. I'm sure reading it here it seems relatively simple, but we sure got cross eyed trying to figure it out as it happened.
The players involved were:
A friend with America's Greatest Legacy with some armor up
My boyfriend with Captain Cosmic and various constructs out
Myself with Prime Warden Tempest with some armor up and Dynamic Syphon
Kagaara Warfang with the Mindbreaker and the damage boosting title
The Seeker title floating up for grabs in by the Title Deck and we don't want Warfang to grab it because we are so close on Crowd Favor Tokens.
It went like this:
> We see the Seeker title out and we don't want Kagaara to grab by attacking either Tempest or Legacy. My friend controlling Legacy decides to use Gung Ho to let Captain Cosmic to use a power so he can attack one of the other armored hero and some villain targets. We delay finishing Legacy's turn to resolve this.
>> That triggers Captain Cosmic using three hits via a Cosmic Weapon and two Autonomous Blades to attack a gladiator and Tempest and then Warfang. The second attack hits Tempest so the Captain's Blade gains the Seeker Title. However we have to delay finishing the Legacy/Captain Cosmic attack entirely because...
>>> That triggers the Chaos Lord title Tempest was holding which makes him play the bottom of his deck. It turns out it is a Lightning Slash which hits Kagaara. That would be all Tempest does on the Legacy/Captain Cosmic/Tempest chain except...
>>>> That triggers Warfang's Mindbreaker retaliation. It is 2 damage out to every target on the board due to her other title and a couple of Captain Cosmic's constructs are already sitting at two health. We resolve the Mindbreaker attack against all the villain targets, however the Legacy/Captain Cosmic/Tempest/Warfang chain isn't done because...
>>>>> That triggers Tempest's Dynamic Syphon given to him by Captain Cosmic which he uses to activate Cleansing Downpour, healing all the hero for two damage. We finish that, the last step in the Legacy/Captain Cosmic/Tempest/Warfang/Tempest chain. This step is resolved.
>>>> Warfang finishes her Mindbreaker attack. That step is resolved.
>>> Tempest already finished his Lightning Slash attack, so that was already resolved.
>> Captain Cosmic does his third attack via Autonomous Blade. That step is resolved.
> Legacy gets to draw and end his turn, that step is resolved.
The ziggurat is complete and I explain to my boyfriend how that happened all on Legacy's turn on the car ride home. The Absolute Zero player at the table seriously considers a "no shenanigans" rule for future games.
Oh yeah. There was an Absolute Zero player.
I love this game. Heh. As ever, feel free to share also convoluted stories you've had.
(Edit: Corrected where the Seeker Title went.)
