Miss Information damage reduction rule clarification needed

I placed a -1 damage on Miss Information in a recent game, but as I played, I had to second guess how I was applying the reduction because several of her cards mention that hero targets deal themselves damage i.e. "Misplaced Memo: Each target deals itself 2 psychic damage."  Would the the -1 to damage reduction be in effect because the cause of the damage stems from one of Miss Information's cards, or would there be no reduction because the hero targets are dealing the damage to themselves?  I'm leaning towards the latter, but I thought I'd ask.

No reduction. You apply all of the modifiers of the target dealing the damage and the target receiving the damage. It doesn’t matter why or how that attack was initiated, as that source is irrelevant for modifiers.
