<Split from Advanced Voss and Sub-Zero Atmosphere>

A quick side-question on Forced Deployment to make sure I understand it correctly: if Voss had 0 minions and was flipped, he a Forced Deployment would not cause him to flip back until the next round, correct? (For the same reason that you'd check the start of turn effects on Voss before Forced Deployment)

Yes, the villain character card is always going to be the first card in play in the game, thus you follow its instructions before any other card which has an effect during the various phases of the villain turn. So, Voss's turn begins. Say you killed his last Minion during the last round, so now he has none, so you look at his card and see that he flips. Then it's his Play phase. He plays Forced Deployment. Assuming he has no other cards out, you come to his End phase, in which he hits the highest and lowest hero targets (because he is flipped). Now you have a round in which to destroy Forced Deployment if you wish, so all the Minions will come out then and you have the remainder of the round to kill them. If you don't destroy Forced Deployment early, it comes around to Voss's turn again and you check his character card's Start phase actions. Check number of Minions in play - still zero, so he doesn't flip back just yet. Then you check Forced Deployment, which has the Start phase action of destroying itself. It does so, and thus brings all the Minions back out of the trash. That is the end of Voss's Start phase, as no other card currently in play will act at this point (unless Ab'Zero has Sub-Zero Atmosphere out, in which case all the Minions will deal their damage now…and actually Voss would also have done right before you moved onto Forced Deployment). then he plays a card, and then he and his Minions deal their damage. If there are still two or more Minions in play at the start of his next turn, it says in his Start phase that he flips back under these conditions, so that is when he flips back to his front side.

If you had destroyed Forced Deployment before Voss's turn came round, but didn't kill enough Minions for there to be fewer than two in play, he would instead flip back on his next turn.

That pretty much answers my question, but the scenario I came across was that Voss was flipped the same turn Forced Deployment came out (which sucked). Voss still had 2 minions out when Forced Deployment was played. As the turn came around, the 2 minions were KO'd (environment, I'm sure). Turn started, so I flipped Voss since he had no minions. Forced Deployment then gets destroyed and so all the minions from the trash (like... 5 or something that game) come out. I assumed that Voss wouldn't get flipped back, despite the fact that it is still the "start of the villain phase" and he now has more than 1 minion. Just wanted to make sure.

(And yeah, that end of villain turn sucked.)

Yeah, once you've done everything applicable on a card at a given moment in time, you move onto the next card and don't go back to the previous one even if conditions change. So yeah, an unflipped Voss plays Forced Deployment. You kill the Minions during the following round (or the environment does - either way, they die before Voss's next turn). Voss therefore has zero Minions in play at the start of his next turn and as per his character card, flips. The only Start phase action listed on his flipped side is the "if he has 2+ Minions in play, flip back" one, which obviously isn't applicable right now as he has none (hence the fact he just flipped). So tht's his card dealt with - you move onto the next one, Forced Deployment (assuming neither of the ships are in play between that and Voss, of course). This destroys itself and all the Minions come back. None of those have a Start phase action so you move straight onto the Play phase, then during the End phase get battered by Voss and all the Minions. Yay :P.

It's why I like to try and destroy Forced Deployment as early as possible after it enters play - if the first hero of the round has ongoing destruction, you can take it out and bring all the Minons back right then, meaning you have the rest of that hero's turn and all the other heroes (and the environment) to deal with them, before Voss's turn rolls around again and you get mauled. Not so bad if there are few Minions around, of course, or if their damage type/target(s) are easy enough to deal with (for example, a cold/fire Minion going for Ab'Zero, or a two-damage Minion attacking a Driving Mantis-equipped Mr Fixer), but yeah, it's frequently nasty.
