Damage type changes affect modifiers and single target affected as "second"?

I'm unsure on two things.

The first relates to damage type boosts. If a card gives a certain damage type increased damage, and then another card changes the damage to another type, is the damage still increased by the first card?

For example, Wraith's Micro Targetting Computer and Razor Ordinance are in play, and Irradiated Cyclohexane Vat comes into play on the environment turn. If Wraith used her power from the Razor Ordinance would it "start out" as Projectile damage, be boosted by 2, and then changed into Toxic and boosted by another 1? Or would it "always" be Toxic damage in this case, and only get boosted by 1 from the vat?

My second question regards cases where there is only a single appropriate target in play, and something affects the second highest (or lowest, etc) target of that type. I am unsure if it would default the only target of that type, or if it would have no effect at all.

For example, all but one Hero target is incapacitated and Citizen Slash is in play. At end of Baron Blade's turn, does Citizen Slash attack the only remaining Hero, or does he do nothing? A second example would be K.N.Y.F.E.'s Infiltrate and Obfuscate when there is only a single Villain target in play. Would the first instance of damage be redirected to the only Villain, or would Infiltrate do nothing?

Thanks!

1. Wraith's damage would not still be increased by Micro Targeting Computer, since she is no longer dealing Projectile.

If Ra is using Imbued Fire, which changes damage dealt be heroes into fire, while also increasing Fire damage by 1, then the Cyclohexane Vat comes into play. Players may choose to turn it to toxic, then fire, thus getting the +1 for being fire and the +1 from the Cyclohexane Vat, since it isn't reliant on damage type.

2. If a card refers to the second highest target, and there is only one target in play, then the card would have no effect. So Slash would deal no damage and K.N.Y.F.E. would still be hit by the environment target.

But SotM makes you happy. It all works put in the end.

Probably works out more towards happiness overall, though now I like Ra even less than I did after the Imbued Fire + Flesh of the Sun God + Solar Eclipse combo no longer worked.

Look, Rabit! Rule #15 came up without my help.

It's helps to think of that combo as a combo that was never supposed to work, rather than a combo that no longer works.

Can the OP or a mod please change the title of the thread to something descriptive, to make the answers easy for other people to find in future? Thanks in advance!

SotM makes me happy, and so do these forums. I don't really care about when things go the way I want or not, just the fact that I'm finding out the correct way to do everything without confusion makes everything so much more fun! And the cool thing about learning that a strategy/combo doesn't work is that you now have the fun of looking for combos that DO work thanks to the clarification on the rules.

A feeble attempt has been made; let us know if you think of better wording. (This is why having one question per thread is so much easier…)

Oh! Just had a thought: Let's send these kinds of requests via PM so we don't clutter/distract the threads.

Thank you! I have to admit, I'm sort of hoping that if I request it enough publically it'll become default behaviour for people making new posts.

Stranger things have happened!

Fair point. I'm hoping to catch threads like this and split them before people respond, but haven't been able to do it to date.

I think part of that heartache comes from the fan material that provided insight on how to play Ra that received some notice from the mods/admins.  Flamethrower49's excellent guides have been pinned in the SotM Rules & Gameplay board for quite some time, and a big mention in the Ra guide was this particular combo (in fact, it is still listed in his guide).  I understand that the creators can't read every post in every topic and that the guides aren't created by them, but they were acknowledged in some minor way by the head honchos of this board.

I definitely think your perspective is a helpful viewpoint for players after confirming how those damage effects were intended to work, but this was an established and popular combo with Ra pinned on the official Rules board for Greater Than Games.  It's somewhat difficult to explain to folks that it wasn't a part of the game when so many players "misplayed" it that way.
