Fairly straight forward question here, if omnitron has multiple hexes targeted by an area attack like bunker's grenades, does he get attacked multiple times or can a target only be attacked once by a given area attack?
Fairly straight forward question here, if omnitron has multiple hexes targeted by an area attack like bunker's grenades, does he get attacked multiple times or can a target only be attacked once by a given area attack?
Omnitron-V will only be hit once, no matter how many of his hexes are in the radius of the attack.
Thank you very much, just thought of a related question though. When you end your your movement and place down omnitron's other hexes, dot hey count as entering a hex for the purpose of acivating hazards? Also, if they both enter the radius hazard like ra's blazing torrnado, does that activate twice or just once?
If a part of Omnitron-V enters a Hazard Space, it will trigger that Hazard Space. If more than one part of Omnitron-V is in a Hazard Space, it will trigger only once.
Yeah you place him down all at once, not one tile followed by the other 2.
But if Absolute Zero has multiple Structures in play, and their radius has been buffed, he triggers each one he is within a radius of one from when he moves, correct? So if two of his three hexes are beside five of them then he will be hit by all five? If he moves further after that will he trigger them again if he remains in their radius of 1?
Is there even a way to increase the radius of Impaling Structure?
Though I will use a real game problem, if Ra has Living Pyre and Blazing Tornado in play, next a Volcano, with two Raptors and if Omnitron-V enters all five of those with any of his hexes, then he is attacked by all five. If Omnitron-V moves, any of his other hexes enter a space that has just triggered a hazard space would not trigger again, because Omnitron-V is not entering the Hazard Space, one of his hexes are. Though any new hex he enters that has a hazard space will trigger.
You don’t need to buff the radius for the AZ question. If Omnitron lands on more than one Impaling Structure, it gets hit more than once.
I assumed it was affected by Fueled Freeze, but I could be wrong. It does say they're Hazard Attacks as opposed to Area Attacks, but since Fueled Freeze pluralized area attacks I assumed it meant more than just his Thermal Shockwave.
Fueled Freeze specifies it increases the radius of Absolute Zero's area attacks. Impaling Structures are a hazard attack. The reason why Fueled Freeze probably uses the plural of Area Attack is there is a possibility of adding more promo Power Cards which have Area Attacks on them. Or perhaps there will be something that gives characters an attack in a Scenario.
Absolute Zero is not the source of the attack from Impaling Structures, the structure is, so it son't be increased.
I think that's clarified since it is labeled as a "hazard attack". I now realize it's different from an area attack. Does the rulebook state that the tokens are not damage dealt by Absolute Zero?
I'd be surprised if characters weren't the source of Hazard attacks that they're generating. Would you say the same thing about the Operative or Ra when they turn the area around them into a Hazard?
Yet another thought on this line of reasoning, does proletariat get attack multiple times when more than one instance of him is in an area attack? Also, on the topic of who affects what, can a hero be affected by the track of one of their companion cards? I ask because of the hammer swing explicitly mentioning that other proletariat are immune.
Proletariat is unique in that he is one character, and yet many at the same time. If three Proletariats are hit by one area attack, they each defend separately. A companion's attack can damage the character and vice versa.
So, Luther, Absolute Zero can be damaged by his own Impaling Structures, and Ambuscade can be damaged by his own traps?
(These are not Companions so your previous answer does not quite apply)
If Absolute Zero was the source of the hazard attack then he would need line of sight and range would be from AZ to the target.
Impaling structures create the hazard spaces, they deal the attack.
Just like Tornado is the source of the attack for the hazard spaces it creates, not Ra.
Ra and Operative are the source of the hazard spaces and the attack for their hazard spaces. Just like Turret bot creates its own attack and traps create their own attacks.
I don't know if Ra or AZ can be damaged by their structures/tornado, but I think they aren't due to that card still being their power.
AZ can be damaged by his own hazards as impaling structure makes no mention about whether it ignore allies. Baron Blade's turret in his second scenario do specifically say they don't hit allies. AZ also has the one power card to allow him and allies within 1 hex to ignore hazards.
The turrets are targets and are not power cards. Impaling Structures are not targets and are power cards. They are not really comparable cards. While the origin of the attack is located on the Impaling Structure, it is still one of Absolute Zero's attacks. All targets are immune to their own attacks, this makes Absolute Zero immune to Impaling Structure.
Where do the rules state that? Nothing outside the power card Sub-Zero Atmosphere would leave me to believe he is Immune to the Impaling Structure
If I am remembering correctly AZ can't add attack+1 tokens to impaling structure attacks, because he isn't making the attack, same with Tornado and Ra.
That ruling could have been changed and I don't remember it, but that's the one I've been working from.
As another example look at the Power card Turret Bot for Unity. It lists that the card generates hazard spaces for enemies only. Impaling Structure does not list anything like that.
Yes Impaling structures and Tornado will damage allies, but whether they damage The character whose power they are is different.
Where is that listed?
The last sentence on Page 9.
You mean this ruling from Impaling Structure was a target?
The reason they couldn't before was because they were targets. That has since been changed.
Turret Bot is a target. Targets can damage any other target. Note that Luther just mentioned this above, though he used the proper keyword "Companion".
Characters are immune to their own attacks. Thermal Shockwave damages any target in its radius, but not Absolute Zero. It damages allies.
Hazard Attacks clearly state if they do not generate hazard spaces for allies, if it isn't stated otherwise they trigger on allies.
I think Ronway is correct, I'm remembering an old ruling, and I tend to overlook changes that don't clearly state that a ruling has been overruled.
So the assumption is that when you use a power card that creates a hazard you are immune to that hazard? The example it listson page 9 when it says are immune to your own attacks just talks about area attack. I don't feel necessarily that hazards by your own creation are your attack anymore. My reasoning on that is that they don't gain any benefits from other cards that could enhance the affect.
Yeah, AZ's player would be the one rolling the attack. It doesn't make sense thematically at all that AZ can't walk across his own icefield.
If he took a misstep he could easily be impaled by his own structure. I don't think thematics has much to do with this. At this point unless one of the other GtG folks says otherwise, I think your own hazards can hurt you unless you have something that allows you to ignore the hazard or the hazard says it won't hit allies.
It is Absolute Zero making the attack. Same with Living Pyre and the tornado. They are immune.
Alright so if Impaled Structure is an attack from AZ does it gain any benefit from Fueled Freeze and Approaching Zero. If it does then I would expect AZ to be immune to Impaled Structure. If it doesn't then I feel AZ can get hurt by the hazard token he made.
Fueled Freeze allows Absolute Zero to lay down an additional Impaling Structure. Or did you mean increasing the radius with Fueled Freeze? No it wouldn't, because Fueled Freeze increased the radius of Absolute Zero's Area Attacks, impaling Structure is a Hazard Attack. There is no reason why a Hazard Attack would get benefits for attacks that are for Area Attacks.
Approaching Zero allies his allies to walk across the Impaling Structures, so there is benefit from that. This benefit allows his allies to get around more easily, while still hindering the enemies.
Absolute Zero makes the attacks for Impaling Structure (and Ra for Blazing Tornado). The origin of the attack is in reference to the Impaling Structure token, so AZ doesn't need LoS but the Impaling structure does (in corner cases involving Slip into Shadows). Absolute Zero can use aim and attack +1 tokens (and are obligated to use an attack -1 token) when the Impaling Structure attack happens. Absolute Zero is immune to Impaling Structure because he makes the attacks.
Sub Zero Atmosphere also allows AZ to ignore natural Hazards and Hazards created by other characters.
Approaching zero reduces movement value of those hurt by AZ's a attacks. What you are referencing is Sub-Zero Atmosphere which allows AZ and allies nearby to ignore hazards. So would those hit by Impaling Structure lose movement.
My mistake, similar names and Sub-Zero Atmosphere was the card you mentioned earlier, so that was still in my head. Impaling Structure is one of Absolute Zero's attacks, so their movement would be decreased thanks to Approaching Zero.
AZ may be the one making the attacks, but the Impaling Structures are still the things dealing the damage, not AZ so Approaching Zero would not reduce movement when a structure hits.
if that is the case then I would agree AZ is immune to the Impaling Structure tokens he put out. If it isn't, then I feel he is susceptible to the hazard tokens he put into play.
Luther has comfirmed that AZ is immune to his Impaling Structres.
Not sure which comment you are referencing since that link just refreshes this page if I click it
Comment #33.
Hey, I'm new enough around here that I'm confused by this, lol. Who is Luther, and why do they have official say? Just curious (no offense, Luther!).
I also ask because I basically disagree with it, haha! It does seem like the structures act on their own accord. The difference between the tornado and the structures is that one is Ongoing and one is an Action. I feel like this means that one is consistently being manipulated (by Ra) and would be affected by his attack, whereas one is basically created (by AZ) and left to its own devices. Of course, in that aspect it would mean that if Ra's card exited play he wouldn't be manipulating it anymore (offgoing? =P), but if AZ's card exited play the structures would remain because he did a one time action which raised some elevation, and honestly, I see this making sense in play. They couldn't damage anymore because there's no card out to show a damage roll…but why would every structure suddenly melt? Meh, I'm fine with whatever decisions…
In the Rulebook on the first page, find the section where it list the Designers, you will see Luther's name there. He works for Living World Games, which co-designed Sentinel Tactics.
Thanks...and AWESOME! I need a new job! =P
The setting is all GtG, the game mechanics are from LWG, and they worked together to make Tactics. Everyone involved seems really cool. (esp. the playtesters, those people are all highly attractive and very interesting, truly the pinnacle of humanity)
Absolutely true. I’m even willing to deign to agree with you, just this once.
Basically any tokens put the board disappear when their associated power disappears.
The thing that connects Blazing Tornado and Impaling Structure is that neither one is a target -- they don't have hp and can't be attacked. Blazing Tornado and Impaling Structure allow Ra and Absolute Zero to make attacks. With something like Blade Battalion, they are targets, and so the make the attack, not Baron Blade.
Would AZ or Ra be able to use attack+1 or aim tokens on these hazard attacks?
He answered that on comment 33. Spoiler alert! He said yes.
Wow, I don't know how I missed that post. I do have painkillers as an excuse, but usually they don't affect me that much, or at least I don't notice it.
Comfortably numb?
