Reveal the Flaws: A lot going on here

Reveal the Flaws is one of the most talked about cards since Vengeance went live. The silver being with the Alchemy symbol on its head is being talked about a lot. Is it the Cosmic Entity? A servant to said entity? Is it connected with the Scholar or the Hermetic?

Matriarch. We have *never* seen card art to date that has a villain attacking a villain. What does that tell us? Will she end up being a hero? She has speaking text in the Final Wasteland environment that didnt sound very evil. Captain Cosmic seems to be rushing to her rescue! Wait, Captain Cosmic is rushing to the Matriarch?

Look at the flavor text. "There! Run to the Center! Its now or never!"

Common now. There is something here.

I've found it in other places (such as tourism guides), but the phrase "From the center to the sea" could refer to a poem (seen here).  The Shan Van Vocht (translation: The Poor Old Woman) describes the Irish rebellion of 1798.

Her name (Lillian Merle Corvus) is largely of latin derivation, but that doesn't rule out an Irish angle. Lily (her nickname, and what Lillian means) is an important flower in Irish culture (though in fairness, its important in a lot of cultures).

This brings me to the Morrigan.  

she is associated with a LOT of stuff- some good, some bad.  Things like war and death, but also fertility, creativity, and poetry. she's associated with druids, bards, and circles.  She's often associated with crows, or depicted as one.

If she does become a hero, I could see her taking the Morrigan name.   

Onto reveal the flaws

In Reveal the Flaws, the Matriarch is being held by the silver creature.  Her eyes are glowing purple- as are its eyes.  Prisoner?  controller?  both being held in the grip of a larger force acting through the mask?

It could well be that she kept seeking more and more power, and something is now using her...

I do look forward to seeing what place the Matriarch holds in the storyline beyond just being a wanting brat, so I hope this does lead somewhere exciting.

Of course, to be a lame-o, it can be said that heroes generally do not allow anyone to just be outright murdered in front of them, including their nemeses. Cosmic could just be rushing to save the Matriarch because she is in peril.

I like the idea of something bigger, and knowing Sentinels, there is assuredly something cooking here

Also, the giant and Lillian have the same lilac glow around their eyes, hinting at a link between them. Probably throguh the mask.

Wait... Reveal... the flaws...

I think she's CONTROLLING that thing. Or was, and it turned against her, or something. Is that is? Christopher?

The "flaw" being revealed is whatever is in the "center" The center seems to be where she is directing Capt. Cosmic.

Is it possible that she was controlling it at one point then lost control? Maybe there is something controlling both of them?

I think she's controlling it and it's defending her, so when she loses control for a split second, that's their chance to strike her and make her lose her grip permanently. It doesn't look like Cosmic is going to SAVE her, anyway; he looks like he's going to HIT her.

Oh she is very much in distress in the picture. Whatever is happening, its not good for Matty

I just added this to the wiki, but I thought I'd mention that the art on this card is surely a nod to the cover of Fantastic Four #1.  I don't know if that means the big guy with the symbol on his head is more of a giant underground creature than a big cosmic guy, or if the reference is just an art thing and the big guy could still be Mr. Cosmos.

So.......now that Progeny is a thing, do we have any more ideas about its relationship to The Matriarch? I'm thinking that it was trying to glean whatever powers it could from her. Do we think that she was a hero or still a villain at this time? If she was a villain, does she want to help the heroes who saved her, now?

Anyway, Matriarch is mostly visible on the new Tactics expansion box (and side!) in a new, more Dark Watch-y costume. Dark Watch-y meaning black and gold. On Reveal the Flaws, she's in her original costume, which could mean one of many, many things: She's yet to change alliegience and was sought by Progeny/summoned Progeny intentionally or no/just in the way at the time, She has recently changed allegience and simply hasn't changed her look yet, or she's playing bait for the (hopefuly) defeat of Progeny, or she's changed sides and joined as a rogue/the FV/whatever and hasn't joined up with Dark Watch yet (possibly because NightMist still had that slot or white haired chick?).

The way I have always viewed the Reveal the Flaws image is that, in the midst of a battle with the Matriarch, Progeny erupted and started attacking everyone there. 

The turn-to good-guy for The Matriarch would come when the heroes risked themselves to save her from Progeny. I do think it's a little odd that she ends up with the Dark Watch when none of them are present in the scene, but maybe she just decided she wanted to help out her home town and started working with the heroes who were there. Or, if Nightmist went missing around the same time, she saw that they needed her help.

Currently we have three known hero groups. If you were goth, which one would you join?

Four known hero groups. But I don't think membership in The Sentinels is open.
