So, I had a great time at GreaterThanCon (I guess that's what we're calling it?) and now that Vengeance is officially out, I can start talking about it as long as I mark it with spoilers. Which I did. So here goes.

REVOCorp (officially pronounced Ree-vo corp, as spoken by Christopher) is a massive company within Sentinels lore, but I contend that they will play a much larger part in the future; either in the next expansion, Wrath of the Cosmos, or -- more likely -- in the Final Battle expansion, as arbiters for the Cosmic Entity that has had a hand in events since Cosmitron, The Matriarch (maybe?), the Time Cataclysm, and possibly even earlier.

What we've been told about it: Parse worked there. They were studying the remains of Omnitron-1 when the Cosmic Entity caused it to become Cosmitron, and Parse to gain her powers. ... and that's about it. However, I think it's something much more than just some company. I think it's a front. For aliens.

The reason being that one high-ranking member appears to be the character known as Revenant. He appeared prior to Vengeance on Shock Rounds (alongside Setback; appropriate considering that they are nemeses). On his card in Friction's deck, he simply appears outside of the REVOCorp building, but he is revealed to be -- if not in charge then in a middle-management position -- on Parse's Segmentation Fault, wherein his reaction to her shooting him (removing his metallic armor and revealing his odd, blue skin)... is to FIRE her.

Also, I believe that at some point in the timeline the Dark Watch stage an invasion of the REVOCorp building; Dark Watch ExPatriette's character card shows her camping out behind the sign on top of the building, and several Dark Watch art pieces -- Setback's character card, both sides, and ExPat's incap -- take place inside. My logic in determining this is as follows: they all appear to be the same location, and Setback's incap appears to take place immediately after ExPat takes the explosion for him in HER incap. The way I decided that they might be in that building without any other identifying features is the presence of the only other non-hero on ExPat's Incap card. A sillouette of a man with glowing red balls of energy encircling his fists, fighting against the Argent Adept. Well, Revenant can definitely fly -- he's doing it right there on his own card -- and on the back of the Vengeance box he is shown firing a beam of red energy at Dr. Medico. So, he fits the sillouette. And where else would he appear than in the REVOCorp building?

Finally, I asked Christopher about it in person. All he would say about REVOCorp was "Oh, yeah, REVOCorp? (correcting my pronounciation) They're... really cool. And they have great benefits!" and then he walked away, actively ending the conversation.

As a side note, I find myself comparing them to Oscorp, as represented in the Amazing Spider-Man movies. In those movies, they are shown to be directly responsible for the creation of Dr. Octopus, The Vulture, The Rhino, Electro, and the Green Goblin. Meanwhile, Setback (who already shares a lot of similarities to Peter Parker) is shown to face his own version of the Sinister 6, including the melty orange guy from Unity's deck, some Manta Ray guy, Ambuscade, a Vulture lookalike, the mirror lady from Nimble Strike, and an Electro lookalike. Given REVOCorp's tendency to experiment with dangerous and/or unknown technology, it doesn't seem too out of the question that they might fill some sort of villain-creator role or something, or a mysterious shadowy organization or whatever.

Thoughts?

I asked Christopher and he said that Revenant is the head of Revocorp.

Also he said that Noah is the name of The Dreamer’s teddy bear. I am probably the only person in the world who cares about that one.

If the story I was told when I was little is true, than the Nightmares that that teddy holds for Venessa. . .

Noah might be the final boss.

So Dark Venessa comes back, not to help save her child version, but to unlock the power stored inside that bear.

Yet only the child can unlock it.

I’m not sure they will be that important since he is card in another villians deck.

That doesnt mean much Tesla. The story is set already - its been completely set since day one (adam confirmed that to me this weekend) so his importance could become more so later mini nemises or not.

Yes, Lynkfox, but we have no more evidence of them having a monolithic status in that story than not.  I'm not saying they aren't an evil company.  I'm just saying that the evidence for them being realised as a deck isn't that strong.

Could be an enviroment deck.

And Adam told me that Setback and Revenant are the among the oldest idea's he had with the Sentinels storyline, some of the first stuff he put together with Christopher.

Setback was Adam's idea, well done to him.

It's also probably worth noting that had Kismet not been created, Revenant would almost certainly have got his own deck. Which is probably a point in favour of him/REVOCorp getting a deck.

I agree with almost everything in the opening post. But I don't think Revenant is an alien, I think he is more an Iron Man, the blue stuff looks more like complicated electronics and fancy sci-fi stuff than alien.

However, if then by extension Revocorp is similiar to Stark Industries only run by a bad guy... that's bad. That's very bad.

So he's Christopher's version of Iron Monger?

Yeah, looking at the final version of the cards (higher resolution than my printed-out proofs) it definitely looks tech, rather than alien. I actually kind of see him as a Green Goblin analogue to Setback's Peter Parker, with RevoCorp being the Sentinels universe's OsCorp (it even has the same name formatting!) Plus with RevoCorp's tendency to experiment on dangerous/volatile technology (Omnitron's code), and the sudden appearence of a Sinister-Six-esque group of villains (in the Amazing Spider-Man movies it looks like OsCorp is directly responsible for the Lizard, Goblin, Rhino, Vulture, and Octopus, at least) and the connection's pretty strong.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Revenant get his own deck in a future expansion. We've seen individual cards get expanded to decks before.

Er, we have?  We've seen characters from individual art become decks, but when has a Target in a deck become an entire deck?  The only one I can think of is Mobile Defense Platform; are there any others?

No, that's the only one; I don't know that REVENANT getting a deck is really plausible, but REVOCorp might. Like, as an environment deck; or even as a villain.

I really like the idea of a villain deck that represents an entire organization rather than a person, with the character card never being a target but offering an alternate win condition a la Gloomweaver, which is the ONLY way to win instead of letting you just beat him up most games.  I'm thinking it'd be most appropriate for the company founded by Michael Conteh before he became The Naturalist, and to be Natch's nemesis, but that doesn't necessarily mean it can't also be Revocorp, or have been bought out by them.  (Perhaps Equity was the CEO after Mr. Conteh, and lost his job when RevoCorp bought the company out after its profits dropped due to Michael's disappearance, so when he somehow found out Natch was Conteh, he swore to punish him before turning his vengeful attention to Revenant?  I forget whenther Equity and Revenant are in the same or different Vengeance decks; either way, perhaps they hate each other but are temporarily working together).

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but could there be a new mechanic that combines the environment and villain deck into a unified opponent. Like the Chairman and Rook City work well together, but actually having mechanics in each that makes the combination more difficult. Additional effects against hero characters exists within the nemeses cards of Vengeance, but why couldn't an environment and villain have effect cards that improve each. RevoCorp seems like an ideal setting/villain.

Speaking of an environment and villain working together. We noticed the other night that in Mobile Defense Platform, the targets with the "Minion" keyword would work with Voss and his minions. And one of Voss's cards reduces damage dealt to Thorathians and Minions.

Long ago, we discussed the idea of a villain that was the environment. Like a giant space amoeba that the heroes were fighting from the inside, or something to that effect. I still think it's a neat idea.

I really don't think that is the intent. But I see what you mean. Opps

Actually at Kantcon last year Christopher specifically mentioned the Minion keyword in the MDP by saying that it counts towards Voss's alternate win condition, so it follows that all other minion based effects would work with them as well.

What? Don't think Voss wants his new crew that pilots the MDP to remain alive?

It works though, He's got giant ships, what he doesn't have is power on the ground to assist the invasion.

If he solves that problem. . .

I think this is totally on point, especially considering the image on Wrong Time and Place, which seems very much an homage to Amazing Spider Man #122 where Spidey ducks as Green Goblin gets impaled by his own glider.
