Seller seems to be taking huge advantage of cards that were given out as goodwill to kickstarter backers and reselling them at an excessive premium.

Makes me wonder how much mine would go for. (Same set as the last one, plus   Cosmic Omnitron and Mad Bomber Blade both on pairs of regular-sized cards, all of them signed by Adam, Paul and Christopher).

No, I'm not selling them, and no you can't have them. Just interested in an 'odd facts' sort of way.

I guess if people are willing to pay so much for objects they couldn't otherwise obtain (and either haven't done the research that would let them discover the printable files or would prefer the "real" cards), you can't really blame sellers for that...

I for one have no desire to print out the promo cards, as it somehow feels dishonest despite having the company's sanction.  Granted, neither would I pay $100 dollars for a single card, even if I was a multi-millionaire.  (In that case, I might pay >G a bribe of fifty grand or so to print the promo pack now, instead of two years from now, so that I could buy it at MSRP; that would feel like a public service rather than a flagrant expense.)

Don't know if anyone else saw the topic, but The Dice Tower's 2014 kickstarter was giving away 8 promo cards (Freedom 6 + Eternal Haka and Dark Visionary) if you back $90.  Plus you get about a bajillion other promo cards from various games, including a King of Tokyo one I'm looking forward to.

I just backed them yesterday and they had about 15 slots left, if anyone else was tempted. 

To me, it's worth it considering the ebay prices are upwards of $150 for those 8 cards alone, I love some of the other games I'm getting promo cards for, and I'm proud to support The Dice Tower.

Also, I have been trying to grab some Dark Watch/Spite/Gloomweaver promos on ebay and it is terrifying! I am getting auction sniped at every turn!

Not sure if this a joke… but if you really are trying to get the Dark Watch Promos, PM me I have a few extra in hand.

Nope, I was actually serious. I wish I would have read this a couple hours ago; I just won an auction on it today. Oh well I don't mind spending a little on a game this amazing!

Unfortunately, unless that Ebay listing was put up by a member of >G (which is pretty much not possible), you aren't helping to support the game by having won that auction; you're helping to support someone who was running what amounts to little more than a scam.  Those promos just came out; to jack up the prices on them when they're still in circulation is distinctly unfair business.  It might be worth seeing whether Ebay will let you get out of fulfilling that bid, under some sort of fraud provision.  Probably not, I think the company subscribes to the school of capitalist thought which says that ignorance or hasty decision-making should be rewarded with financial ruin, but perhaps it's worth a try.

If someone's willing to play a particular price for something, I don't see the problem, personally.

I have a small item finishing on eBay this afternoon which I basically just wanted to get a token amount for, partially to get it out of the house (we're decluttering) and partly so it'd go to someone who'd actually want it, so I listed it at £0.99. It's currently up to £15. Someone's going to get something they want for a price they're obviously happy to pay, I get some extra cash and can make a donation to charity. 

I don't see how selling something you own that someone could buy somewhere else is a scam, or fraudulent. And telling eBay you want to break a contract you've entered into freely because you could get the item you bought cheaper elsewhere is, in my opinion, ridiculous. 

I think both of you are right. If someone has bought a copy of the promo cards it is within their right to sell them. It is true that the amount that are being charged for them is exorbitant given that they were given for free with any order during December, but if people want to pay that much for them, that's their own business. I think we all agree that the prices are unfair, but fraud would really only occur if the buyer did not get what they paid for or were misled by advertising, for example people who sold Playstation 3 boxes without the PS3 and put the fact that only the box was being sold in small letters secured away in a corner.

I have no problem buying them from ebay/the seller. At the time it seemed like a simple way to get some copies of them fast. I was very busy all december and so missed the opportunity. I realize that purchasing them does not support >G but i have purchased many things from them and intend on purchasing more. I doubt >G cares that I bought some promos on ebay after missing the opportunity in December.

Those of us who got the promos direct from >G weren't exactly "supporting" them either, since we didn't actually pay for them. The net effect is the same...

If I ordered something in December but it shipped in January, would I still get the Dark Watch promos?

I got my cards a couple of days ago, and they had the Darkwatch promos. If you placed the order in December, you should be good.

Paul said any orders made in Dec. would have the DW promos regardless of what was ordered.

I had ordered new EE and the RC/IR set pretty much as soon as they came in stock, then later I decided to get a Mr. Chomps plushie so placed an order for that too. Even though they all came in the same box I got 2 sets of promos, since they were 2 orders. Didn't see the 2nd set till I looked in Mr. Chomps' arms, he was holding them for me. Will probably give the extra set to a friend at my game club that has Sentinels and may have missed getting the promos. Already gave away my first Young Legacy a while back, had gotten an extra one from the RC kickstarter. Now I keep that one in a safe place and just use a printout that happens to have more vibrant colors than the original and thicker too to match the rest of the cards better.

Pretty much replaced my entire set of Sentinels since there were problems with most of the cards during printing (the color issue) and sleeving my cards now that the cards have become more consistant in production and seem to get a ton of use. They stay in your hands a lot more often than cards in deck builders, since those games usually have you draw a new hand, so some cards you just keep holding onto get really worn. Just need to replace my Shattered Timelines now, the cards are wearing down quite a bit on Omnitron-X and Chrono-Ranger, they get a ton of use.
