From the UK Sentienls Game Day:

Asked christopher the pressing question of: "Are La Capitan and Apostate the parents of Fanatic?"

The answer: "Apostate, Fanatic and La Cpatian are not related in any way" so I'm afraid a promising avenue of speculation has been closed. It also mean Apostate is a lying liar who lies regarding Fanatic's origin, but really, who's shocked by that revelation?

That may not be entirely true - he said he "created" her, right? You can create someone without giving birth to them. He might've used his powers to give her the wings in the first place, perhaps, or otherwise affected her personality to make her who she is to day. In the same way, you could say that Baron Blade "created" Iron Legacy by killing Pauline ;).

An unholy experiment to create another fallen angel, would be cool, esp. if his success ends up making the weapon that brings him down, some poetic biblical style stuff there.

I'm wuite glad we don't have a concise stroyline for Sentinels, it makes it so much more fun to create your own stories when cannon isn't lurking over your shoulder judging you.

I mean we don't know if Legacy stops Baron Blade from destroying the Earth, that's why we play the game.  I think >G is doing a great job balancing the known and unknown in their universe.  Leaves so much room for us to create stories that could be right.

I just thought they were two sides of the same coin, and one could not exist without the other. Apostate’s very existence requires the existence of Fanatic.

Well from what I learned this weekend, the canon absolutely is there. We just don't know it all yet, because Christopher hasn't told us everything.

That said, all the battles we fight can be thought of as possible stories, or events from alternate timelines, or even representations of many encounters that the heros had that weren't earth-shatteringly (no pun intended) important. Like defeating or evading Bowser in any castle except the last, or something.

Knowing that the canon is there makes speculation all the more fun. Pieces are there, we just have to guess at how it fits.

This.

It will be really cool to have the official cannon, but it will (for me at least) be slightly sad for all the also awesome possible storylines that it isn't.  If that makes any sense.

There's an off-planet base and at least two alternate dimensions (the Realm of Discord and the world where The Block is) among the Environments we already have, not to mention Silver Gulch which is in the past.  So even if the Earth was destroyed today, there are at least four places where battles could still be fought.  (I for one hope we'll see more - the Thorathian Homeworld would make a neat Environment, for instance.)

There was one other Fanatic related thing revealed at the UK Games Day.

In a Vengeance game, Christopher played Fanatic, using a page from his notebook as the character card. This Fanatic was called PW Fanatic.

She had 32 hit points, as far as I can remember, and a power, whose name I've forgotten if Christopher revealed it, that deals herself 3 radiant damage and allows a hero to use a power now.

Sadly PW did not stand for Paul Watson (and why not? Surely I am awesome enough to warrant such a tribute. ;-) ).

If I've erred in revealing this informaption, could someone with admin rights delte the post?

Pegan Witch Fanatic! I dont know, maybe her faith was rattled harder than we thought.

Edit: Seems like a strange power. It functions like Embolden, but with a steeper damage penalty and takes up a power use. Is its purpose to fuel Sacrosanct Martyr? It still ends up being a 1:1 damage ratio, but with an upper limit of 8 instead of 5? I wont spend a lot of time thinking about a power coming from Christophers notebook (I am sure he has TONS of similar alt. cards for just about everyone, no doubt), but I'd love to hear the thought behind it.

PW = Prime Wardens, obviously.  Alas, this means it's probably unlikely that we'll get this promo until the next expansion comes out, as the PW have (at least) one member we don't know yet, and it would make the most sense to release all the PW heroes at the same time.  Very excited by the prospect of a promo Argent Adept, as it saddens me greatly that none of the non-core heroes get promo action (except Unity, who is sort of "honorary core", since she has a divider in the EE).

Well presumably the other PW characters will have new Powers as well.  But I can definitely see times when Fanny would like to take some extra damage in order to accomplish even a little - ignoring the possibility of cards giving additional powers, just the innate ability of Tempest or Young Legacy might be worth it under certain circumstances.  There's no telling when you'll want Omnitron-X's power, Expatriette loves to play Unload out of turn, heck even the Scholar might like it.  And of course, the ultimate would be for her to target herself (if that's possible) and then use Sacrosanct Martyr to dish out 8 damage.

FO
Foote

My thing is though, that the Promo innate powers have by and large addressed a shortcoming of sorts. Bunkers two promo illustrate this simply. EoW adds to his lack of ongoing destruction, and GI helps strong aversion toward DR. Young Legacy added missing damage potential. Golem Unity added play speed. Dark Visionary frees up her Play phase for more damage oriented cards instead of support ones. Haka and Ra gain card cycling. Redeemer Fanatic gained minor mitigation and speed some speed.

PW Fanatic would raise the ceiling on Martyr to 8 sure, but its still a 1:1 damage ratio. Thats a big "meh" for me. What is interesting is that Zealous Offense would not require Absolution be in play to keep ZO around. Taking 3 damage yourself so 2 noncharacter targets cant deal damage may not be a terrible trade off if you need to keep some spaceships or Char from ripping you to shreds. And since she is a Prime Warden, of course any extra power useage, Embolden or otherwise, will never be wasted on Argent Adept.

Ideas for the other known Prime Warden promo powers:

Argent Adept - Reveal the top card of your deck until a Song is found. Activate either its Perform or Accompany text. Shuffle that Song back into your deck.

Haka - Reduce all damage dealt to hero targets by Environment cards by 1. Draw a card.

Tempest - Place 2 cards from your hand under Tempest's Character card. Increase all Lightning damage Tempest deals by 1 for every 2 cards under this card.

[Redacted] - Something something something energy damage. Thats my best guess.

I'd love to see a Prime Warden version of Fanatic, but yeah, isn't she just The Redeemer when she's a member of the PW? At least in the beginning she is.

I do hope this means we can get PW versions of each member, even though we've already got Haka and Tempest promos.

Is this confirmed information somewhere? From my understanding, The Redeemer is a reflection of where she is within her own story arch with Apostate. I do not think her status of Redeemer is a reflection of her standing within the Prime Wardens. Yes, Redeemer is shown on Silver Shadow, but is that what this is based off of? Tempest also has a dang ol' sword in that picture if I recall.

Also worth noting, it seems that the Comic issues entitled "Fanatic" are few and far between. Not sure what that means. I think Iron Legacy was seen in Fanatic #14 (please someone correct me, I think I am misremembering something).

One other thing to consider about PW Fanatic's base power is that if she's unable to deal damage (or is immune to it), she basically gets to let someone else use a power for free (since that part isn't reliant on her actually having to have taken damage from the first part) ;).

Well are we sure the damage that she does to herself triggers letting another hero use a power? Like, does it say:

Fanatic deals herself 3 radiant damage. One hero may use a power.

or

Fanatic deals herself 3 radiant damage. If she takes damage this way, one hero may use a power.

Because those are very different things.

It was written on a scrap piece of paper so it's completely subject to change but it was the first. There was a long period of time where Fanatic was not dealing herself damage but others still got to use powers.

Personally I'd like to see it change to the "if you do damage" version.

I don't think this new power is entirely useless. Again, the thing is you don't have to use it. I can see it being useful for turns where you need another hero to use extra powers obviously, and it only helps you get closer to using Wrathful Retribution. Plus, like we already mentioned, you can combine the power with Zealous Offense to shut down other targets' damage until you get an Absolution. I think the power will be fun to experiment with.

Though yes, from an objective standpoint, it is worse than Greatest Legacy's power. But I think it's designed for Fanatic's martyr theme. Take one for the team so that the others succeed.

I didn't say it was a bad power, I just said I don't think there should be a conditional for the effect to be relient on damage being done. I do think you should be able to get the benefit of the power even if damage is prevented for some reason, that way there is no situation where your innate power is just pointless.

Points at damage reduction for base Fanatic's power, points at times when target is immune to damage for Legacy's Galvanize, points at Tachyon's rapid recon after a Don't Dismiss Anything.

There are many situations where a base power is pointless, or even a non-base power.

It is a very different approach to Fanatic, both her base powers currently get used a ton, and with it able to go straight into Martyr it could be cool.

I'd love a deal self 3 radiant, heal 1 or 2, someone uses a power, just because that would actually make Martyr more than a 1 for 1.

Also adding that Fanatic into the Greatest Legacy and Argent Adept teams, every turn every hero could use a power.  For fun!

A lot of those examples are either just for one turn, or there are ways to get around them. I just don't think that dealing yourself 3 damage and letting another player use a power need to be connected by an if damage clause. G-Unity doesn't have that, and Nightmist doesn't have that either. Those are two characters with damaging base powers that can still get the positive effect of those powers if damage is being prevented.

But we are talking about the situational queen herself in Fanatic. Her entire deck is situational. Thats what I love about the Redeemer Fanatic, it gives you an always useful power which plays to many aspects of her deck. If there is one thing she does not need at all, it is more ways for her to damage herself. That damage is damage you could be taking for Divine Focus, Chastise, or Embolden (which is clearly the same but better than the innate power in question). And in what extra ways can we use that extra self damage? Very few. Without Wrathful Ret. in hand or the Aegis of Resurection, you will go down too fast to even make that maxed out Retribution worth your sacrifice. And a Martyr with a max ceiling of 8 instead of 5 is not a buff. Comes with as many draw backs as perks. What holes is this power attempting to plug? Maybe Ill have to play a few games with it to find it, but I am having a hard time seeing the forest for the trees here possibly.

I, too, am not a huge fan of base powers that involve damaging yourself to activate another ability that the hero already has. Much like my gripe with Golem Unity: there's never a point where I would say I can't wait for a Pylon or Workbench and would rather sacrifice 4 HP for one bot.

With this in mind, I'm on the boat that Fanatic has plenty of other ways to help out the team and take extra damage.

But, like I said a few posts ago, I don't think it's completely useless. But I would only use this version for very, very desparate games. So if this becomes the final version, it sadly won't see much play time from me.

As the self-appointed defender of the burn yourself down Fanatic I approve of this power.  It still is a 1-1 for Martyr, but 8 damage as a single shot is no joke, that burns a lot of DR granting minions in one shot.  Not too shabby.

I would think that unlike GL PWFanatic would be using her base power sparingly, and be dealing most of her damage with her other cards, but it has some decent uses, and if it is off a sheet of paper in a folder it isn't written in stone.

I would absolutely love it if you took damage and then healed a bit back though, that promo woul be an instant favorite for me.

You could take out Citizen Truth completely with just your power phase, or Runes of Malediction (which is awesome since that gives the rest of the team time to get rid of Effigy.

Beat down significantly on any of the higher health really nasty cards, like EPE or Voss' ships, or the Paradoja Magnifica, or La Capitan's crew.

My point, a 5 for 5 damage exchange is very situational, since 5 damage is replicated well by other heroes, but 8 for 8 is a huge chunk of damage that as of right now could swing games and save a lot of HP vs. the 8 you lose.

Situational yes, hurts a lot, yes, but it would also be really powerful.

Then there would be the interplay between GL and Adept and PWFanatic.  Take three send the power Adepts way who does what he can before sending it to GL who sends it back to Fanatic, healing her 1 and letting her Martyr.

Or even just taking three to let Tempest use rain, esp. if you have embolden on yourself.  deal yourself 2 radiant, then play a card, deal yourself three radiant, everyone heals 2, then Martyr with 5 damage already stored.

This Fanatic would play more selfishly and risk death more, and that isn't a popular playstyle for her, but it is effective, much more so if this promo happens.

FO

The 2 damage from embolden comes at the end of the heros turn. Martyr only works with radiant damage dealt to her that turn. So that would not work.

It's not that they're annoying, they specifically release information that he should not be releasing.  For example, the latest one:

[Redacted] is not a Prime Warden. And yeah, we know her name too.

All indications are that he's talking about the giant Thorathian girl, and he's telling the world that she's not a Prime Warden.  That's not his info to divulge, and he's specifically agreed not to divulge stuff like that, yet he does it all the time.  I've got nothing personal against McBehrer and don't really want him to be banned from the forums, but anyone who consistently leaks little bits of info like this is breaking their agreement and should probably have their playtester priveleges revoked.  It's just an observation however, since I don't have any skin in that game.

Foote, telling people to "get over it" is pretty rude.  There are probably more harmonious ways to indicate that you're not bothered by something without telling people how they should feel about it, yes?

We have all known who was in the Prime Wardens since Infernal Relics Spiff. 5 members. All shown on Silver Shadow. Sounds like he is giving well known and documented information. If not explicitly confirmed already, it has been a major consensus for a long while way before Vengeance PTing. And if he thinks he knows that Thorathians name, well, I am missing the leaked information there.

And Spiff, calling for the Ban Hammer on someone unnessesarily is not equally rude? Let's stick to the subject at hand. This is not about me dude. (Not saying I don't agree with you to a point, however. Don't get me wrong there).

Call me old fashioned, but if he leaks anything at all, except by the rare accident, then he's broken the agreement he made when he became a playtester, and shouldn't be allowed to be a playtester.  I'm not sure why that's a controversial idea.  You seem to think that it's OK to consistently leak lots of little stuff as long as he doesn't leak something you consider big and important, and maybe that's a legitimite difference of opinion.  But no, I don't think simply pointing out that a guy who violates the playtester agreement should probably not be a playtester is rude.  That seems like common sense to me.  I'm not trying to pick a fight with anyone.

The people who CAN ban people are paying attention to everything, and have talked to individuals before about their posting habits (*ahem - keep it under control, kid*) but, either way, it's not your decision. It's the decision of those elusive few who do actually weild the ban hammer. Who are they? The Multiverse may never know. It is said they are perpetually cloaked in shadow and that they live in an unfindable cave on the top of an unclimbable mountain, deep in an unknowable forest, surrounded by an uncrossable river...

But, then again, manything are said, and that's probably a pile of nonsense. Pfft. Surely there is no secret mastermind who pulls all the strings...

As you were, citizens.

Maybe he's actually Citizen Dusk, and the whole Anvil thing is just a front ;).

But he isn’t a character card, so he doesn’t have a back.

I went there last spring for vacation. It's quite nice actually, but I don't recommend trying the Tuna Casserole.

Well, it's pretty obvious the Thorathian is not the bearded guy with the energy stuff, who IS the other Prime Warden probably.

Also, to correct Spiff, they WERE fairly consistent. That was more of a speculation, and a pretty small one at that, but I haven't seriously leaked anything in a while; not since we talked, at any rate.

Also, saying someone shouldn't deserve to be a playtester KIND OF falls under the perview of "trying to pick a fight with anyone."

Look, I don't even care that much.  I thought I was pointing out something pretty obvious and uncontroversial, but apparently not.  Personally, I think you purposely cross the line too often.  But you seem to be fine with it, and as long as the >G folks are also fine with it, we have no issues.

You keep using that present tense...

I agree and support Spiff on this.

Personally, that kind of attitude makes the ones doing it look childish (needing policing) and the rest of the crew unprofessional. Even more personally, discourages people like from participating in the forums (even though I'm not that much around). Which btw is the solution to my problem.

Christopher's character card does have a back, it's just not connected to his front. Both halves were seperated and sealed seperately to ensure Christopher's immortality.
