The Sentinels and other sentinels

So, Dr. Medico and Mainstay, the first and most "core" members of The Sentinels (the other two being latecomers and not long-time college friends).  I was looking at the picture of Mainstay on Iron-Fist Strike, and I remembered reading in the Sentinels' backstory how Mainstay "just kept getting bigger and stronger", and realized that this sounds not entirely unlike Haka.  And then, when I was re-reading their bio to confirm this, I saw the reference to the compassionate Medico as a "being of living energy", and it clicked to me - The Scholar also turns into glowing yellow light, powered directly by his lifeforce (hence he deals damage whenever he heals).  So very possibly, these two members of the Sentinels, and possibly others besides, are tapping into the same power sources as our other heroes!  Equating the Idealist with the Visionary is tenuous since they glow in different colors, but they are both child psychics who were exploited by mad scientists, so it might be a match...that leaves only Writhe as not having an analogue among existing heroes (though, if I absolutley had to pick one, I'd go with Nightmist, who looks completely different in her amorphous form, but both are dabblers in shadowy forces with a thing for tentacles).

Writhe uses technology. Now, you could get all Arthur C. Clarke on that, but NM has a distinctly occult air lacking from Writhe.

Given that Medico weighs 7oz it could be that the mass he shed was absorbed by the person he was physically closest to most of the time, i.e. Mainstay.

How exactly does pure energy weigh even that much?  scratches head

How does one become made of energy? Simple, it's a work of fiction, so anything can happen.

Maybe he's a little like Doctor Manhattan and willed the stickers and mask into being.

Well, as we know, light exerts pressure.

Indeed, energy itself has weight; this is E=mc^2. I get 7 ounces being equivalent to about 2.2 * 10^16 joules or 5*10^12 Watt-hours (5 tera-Watt-hours), which is about a tenth of the total energy use of the US in one day. That's a lot of healing energy.

In the Iron Druid Chronicels, which I'm reading, Colorado is the name of the Elemental that is responsible for the entire Colorado plateau (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/a/af/Colorado_Plateaus_map.png/220px-Colorado_Plateaus_map.png), so upon first reading that, I thought you were saying that Medico was healing that entire land mass.
