Do, if each Legacy adds a new power, and Paul Parsons is the 8th, what are his list of powers.

1. Joseph Williams Parsons (1759) had danger sense

2. Paul Nathaniel Parsons (1784? shortly after war for independance)  added keen eyes and a fleetness of foot

3. Paul Parsons II added great strength (equal to the stoutest of men)

4. ?

5. ?

6. ?

7. ?

8. Greatest Legacy (Paul Parsons VII) (early 1900s)

9. Legacy (Paul Parsons VIII) (1973) added Invulnerable Skin

10. Young Legacy (Pauline Parsons) (2002) added Atomic Glare

I'm guessing somewhere in there is superhuman strength, and somewhere else is inspirational leadership.  I'm not sure what else.

To clear it up, isn't the current Legacy America's Finest Legacy? and which legacy got flight?

Greatest Legacy is super charasma. He makes everyone become the best they can be!

Flight was gained circa WW1, So I'm guessing #7 for that.

#5 should be Civil War, that would be a good spot for leadership.

The first Paul Parsons to be born in the 20th century gained flight, and was the first Legacy.

The current Legacy was the one to get invulnerability.

I think Greatest Legacy was the WW1 legacy, but might have been the WW2 legacy.  His art has blimps and trench imagery on it, which I associate more with WW1.  However, in a superhero time line, who knows.  There might be blimps in every war ever.

Modern Legacy's father killed Baron Blade's father in 1984.  Baron Blade killed Modern Legacy's Father probably about 1990.

I think Greatest Legacy is supposed to be Finest Legacy's father, and so World War 2 would make a little more sense age wise.

Paul Parsons, the 7th, was a great American hero. Before his fall at the hands of Baron Blade, he fought in World War II, led a platoon of soldiers, and single-handedly destroyed Fyodor Ramonat's war-zeppelins. Because of the war, he did not get married or have children until much later in life, though his son grew to be known as America's Finest Legacy, taking the place of his father in the lineage of Legacies.

Now, with all of the temporal chaos, Paul Parsons has stepped through time to fight alongside the heroes of today. He gets to not only see his son as the great hero this generation knows him to be, but also meets his grand-daughter, giving him more to fight for than ever before.

But he has yet to see the downfall of the Legacy line. Will he survive it? Will anyone? Only time will tell.

Okay, Greatest Legacy is explicately Paul VII.

The current Legacy (Paul Parsons VIII) is also called "Finest Legacy."  That clears things up.

So, if Paul Parson has fought in every major American War (except for Vietnam), that likely gives us a timeline sort of like this:

Joseph Parsons: American Revolutionary War

Paul Parson I: War of 1812

Paul Parson II: Mexican American War

Paul Parson III: American Civil War

Paul Parson IV: (a time of peace)

Paul Parson V: Spanish American War

Paul Parson VI: World War I

Paul Parson VII: World War II, Korean War (but not the Vietnam war)

Paul Parson VIII: Desert Storm, War on Terror

I made a topic about this quite a while ago:

https://greaterthangames.com/forum/topic/power-to-parsons-correlation-2873

According to Christopher at Kantcon, Joseph got Danger Sense, the next 2-6 gained in superhuman capability as far as strength and speed goes.  The second apparently had the strength and physique of a bodybuilder in a time when there were no bodybuilders, and so on and so forth.  Six got flight, and seven got an aura of charisma that inspires people to be better on an actual physical level.  Eight got supertough skin, and Felicia got laser eye beams.

This feels a little bit like talking about Doctor Who.

Ah, thank you!

I've been having a hard time getting a good signal-to-noise ratio when I use the forum search to see if I'm repeating a topic.

You know, I'm a little sad that his charisma is a (official) superpower.

Wait, does this mean Finest Legacy is the first one that is bullet-proof?  That knocks him down the ladder of awesomeness, if his ancestors were heroes of the Civil War, WWI and WWII without being bulletproof then dang, they just plain rocked.

Yup.  It's mentioned in his bio on the SotM website:

http://sentinelsofthemultiverse.com/multiverse/heroes/legacy

Which means that America's Greatest Legacy doesn't, in fact, have access to Legacy's "Fortitude" card in the official cannon.  Make of that what you will!

Yup.  It's mentioned in his bio on the SotM website:

I've read that bio a lot and I'm pretty sure it doesn't say that.  But it is correct, I can't remember where it's from.

I thought Next Evolution represented Finest Legacy's addition, and that Fortitude, being tough skinned but not really invulnerable would have been from earlier.

The statement that Legacy (P. Parson #6) was the first super-hero probably justifies that my feeling was wrong, since we know he added flight, and a bulletproof soldier seems super-heroish.  I'm going to give mad props to the man who was as vulnerable to weapons fire as any other man and yet managed to take out a whole fleet of Zepplins.  I was thinking he probably could just fly through the things at that point, but he must have been way more Flying James Bond Ninja than just being overpowered.

We need a few custom cards to replace next evolution and fortitude in Greatest Legacy's deck.  Something for evasion and maybe a card where he uses a weapon.

Art of him jumping out of a Zepplin as it explodes would be satisfactory, have him deal fire damage.  (Some things you have to blow up)

For Superhuman Agility have him throwing a bomb back at a Zepplin, the effet could let him ignore/redirect the first time he would take damage each turn.

Wait, Superhuman durability would have to go too.  That's 8 cards for Finest Legacy's addition to the line.  So, how about a card that let's him reduce others damage the same way, have him tackling someone out of the way of an explosion, when a hero other than Legacy would take 5 or more damage reduce it by 2, either that or some offensive leadership, like a one-shot that someone else may play a card, and if it does damage increase that damage by one.

It would be a very different feel for largely the same deck, danger sense and Superhuman Agility would still make lead from the front really good, without him being able to absorb all of a big attack that hits everyone.

Not that there is anything wrong with the deck as is, but it would be fun to have a more thematic Greatest Legacy.

You are correct.  My mistake!  It was Baron Blade's bio that mentioned it.

This thread, the sympathetic villains thread and the who would win thread have me thinking about Iron Legacy redeemed, and what he would be like then.

I'd add some cards to show he's not clean cut anymore, he'd probably be more offensive than before, and I'd leave him with some anger.

I'd love a base power of damage, maybe a couple of targets low damage, and then a card where he'd get a boost that would last for some time, but fade or explode or something.  Maybe a card you play that puts a card or two from his deck under it, then takes one out from under at the start of his turn, let him add any targets he destroys under it.  Boost damage by 1 for each card underneath.  As long as there are targets to destroy he could keep his damage up, but if he can't beat anyone down, then it fades each round.  A card that would let him grab a villain target with 5 or less max HP and use it as a weapon to hit other villains would be awesome, have it lose HP each time he uses it.  Stuff that lets him go on sick little rampages through minion hordes.

I don't think we need more Legacy versions… but I do like the cards you mention.

something maybe like:

At the beginning of your turn, remove one card from underneath this card. If there are no cards to remove, destroy this card.

Whenever legacy destroys a target, place the target under this card.

Legacy gains +X damage dealt, where X is the number of cards underneath this card.

This is somewhat similar to the Fanatic card that destroys one target and deals that target's HP in damage to another, but for this case it could be like this:

Place this card next to a villain target with HP of 5 or less.

At the beginning of your turn deal that villain target 1 melee damage and then deal X damage to another target, where X = the first target's HP.

At the beginning of your turn deal that villain target 1 melee damage and then deal X damage to another target, where X = the first target's HP.

I forgot to add in using that target as a shield, where you could redirect any damage dealt to a hero target to that card instead.

It would be very dark-legacy to use an enemy as a weapon or a shield.  Or it could be a totally new hero who brawls and tanks with less damage than Haka and less tanking than Legacy, and less fixing than the fixer.

I'd alter it a bit:

Take a villain target with 5 or less max hp and put it in your play area, as long as it is in your play area ignore its text, put this card next to it.

You may redirect damage dealt to a hero target to the target attached to this card.

Power:  Deal one villain target the HP of the card attached to this card, then deal the attached card one damage.  If this power is not used during your turn destroy this card.

If the target attached to this card is destroyed, destroy this card.  If this card is destroyed return the target to the villain play area with it's current HP.

That is probably way too much text, someone better at doing rules could probably condense it and make sense.

Pair it with a card like:

The first time (name) would take damage each turn you may redirect one point of damage to an ally.

Call it keep your friends close, and the one above keep your enemies closer.

I'm going to have to work on some more cards for this, because an antihero Brawler/tank would be awesome.

How about:

Play next to a target other than a character card, with 5 or fewer max HP. That card is considered to be blank apart from its HP. If that target is destroyed, destroy this card.

Damage that would be dealt to a hero target may be redirected to this card's target.

Power: [Heroname] deals 1 target melee damage equal to the HP of this card's target, then deals this card's target 1 irreductible melee damage.
