Time for 90's fun with Setback and Expatriette!

Ain't nobody made a thread so I'm doing it. >:B

Oh boy, I sure am glad someone made a thread about this Letters Page episode so I can post the notes I've had saved all day! :V

"The Letters Page: Because we're consistent!"

Funnily enough, I just listened to the Dark Watch episode recently, so it was cool to get more Setback and Expatriette, as well as the question asked about that arc! :D

Okay, we finally know Christopher's weakness: an anime about ringtones.

The One Direction tangent was the funniest thing I have ever heard. XD "Oh, those silly boys!" I haven't laughed this hard in ages!

Loving the 90s aesthetic, complete with the Liefield-esque bodysuit, but I do have one quibble:  Expatriette surely has better trigger discipline than that!  Fingers stay off the trigger, until you're ready to take the shot!

I specifically love the hero headshots in the top-left corner. :D

Yeah, the other special ammo types sounded super cool :D

i really enjoyed the story that came out of this episode - both just for the cool new villain, and the way that Setback and Expat’s characters play off each other. I like him being a slightly mellowing influence on her, despite everything that pulls her more to ruthlessness!

Setback in the Coliseum? I want that story! Obviously he doesn’t get a Title, but we don’t get anything as far as I can recollect.

This is a way better look for Professor Pollution. So yeah it’s actually a new character named Doctor Toxica, but that’s ridiculous, they were just making a new character to make a new character, it should be Prof Polly. Indeed I’d probably rule that the Naturalist foe is a reboot version of the original Professor, and this time she’s black, because comics do that a lot.

Setback was The Idealist before The Sentinels were a thing (and before Miranda existed).

I would imagine that Black Fist, or Mister Fixer, or even Mantra probably has sufficiently short-range “blindsight” that he’s truly incapable of driving a car. Not only can he not see the colored lights or read the stop signs, he probably can’t even sense two car lengths away.

But then how will they join forces in Terror Forms?

In all seriousness, despite a vague surface-level connection of “uses poison against society”, Professor Pollution and Dr. Toxica are actually exact opposites. Professor Pollution wants to eradicate all human life while causing an environmental apocalypse so that nature can begin to heal, and Dr. Toxica wants to upgrade humanity into a super-species and doesn’t care what percentage of the population makes it through the transformation process.

(Arguably Necrosis is extremely similar to Dr. Toxica, but he’s got his own weird deal going on.)
