Episode 76 of the Letters Page Cosmic Tales

No one can hear out in space so a rather quick one.......

Didn't find anything like, super-amazing or hilarious or memorable, but this was still worth listening to. Though honestly, I really did like hearing about golden age Captain Cosmic. I guess it's just hard to top Daybreak right now.

Damn. Nerdy cult of gloom member beat me to my cult of gloom question. And I sent it perfectly in character as gloomweaver too. 

They were wrong about Gloomy in space.  Cosmic Contest brought him to space. 

Is this episode not showing up in Google Play for anyone else?

Cosmic Contest wasn't really a story about "In Space" though.  He was in an arena that happened to not be on Earth, and then he wasn't anymore.

Golden Age Captain Cosmic was easily my favorite part of this story, I was hoping we'd learn more about him at some point.

We also learned the name of the singular entity of Passion ("The Fervor") and that there are several more singular entities out there.

And perhaps most importantly, we learned about a bunch of spoileriffic stuff that they'll answer in the Scion episode, if we ask.

Still in space though.   The qualifier had nothing to do with whether he attempted or did anything in space but just that he was never in space. 

That's not what they said, though.  They said there were no stories about "Gloomweaver IN SPAAAACE," which is true.  At no time did they say he was never in space, just that there weren't any stories about that.

I atill think there are probably cult of gloom members off planet since the Realm of Discord can't possibly be limited to only earth. 

Gloomweaver himself is Earth-centric, though, since he's from Earth originally.  It probably never occurred to him to proselytize on other planets.  Maybe there are other entities in the Realm of Discord that came from other planets, and they just never interact with each other.  We don't know a lot about the geography of the Realm of Discord and how it connects to the material plane.

I really enjoyed the "Welcome Home" story; Alan Moore's "For the Man Who Has Everything" is probably one of his best superhero works, and both the Justice League version and the related JL episode, "Legends", are classics.

You are not the only one Trajector. I had to go to the actual web page to get it. Still not in the Google Play store for me.

Why episode 77 already in Google play but still missing episode 76?

Dunno. That is still the case for me, too. I found that Google has a podcasts app, and I was able to listen to it there. But the app doesn’t integrate with Android Auto nearly as well, so it was tough for me to listen while commuting as I usually do.

Anyway, I still did! I’m glad my curiosity about Golden Age Cosmic interested so many of you, too. I dunno why I love those dumb early depictions of space travel, but I just do. Must be the contrast with my day job.

It was a story in Space in which Gloomweaver had a presence, but he wasn't the focus of the sotry.

You seem to be trying to dissuade but you’re making my point.   I don’t care if Gloomy was the focus it’s a story involving Gloomweaver in space. 

But it's not a story ABOUT Gloomweaver.  Which is what they said didn't happen in Space.

We will have to agree to disgree.  I see it as a story with Gloomweaver in space.  You don’t see it that way and that’s fine.

“We’re in rare form today” is what they should have said at the beginning of the episode.

Also, Adam is a gas, not because he’s a hilarious card of a person who’s fun at parties, but in the sense that he expands to fill all space available. So he feels very big in relation to the cosmic universe, since he’s ever spreading and growing more rarefied, until his extremely diffuse cloud is spread across every observable galaxy to infinity and beyond.

By contrast, the various Christophers are very dense, all simultaneously occupying the same single coordinate point.

The Thorathians are being referred to throughout this episode as Nazi allegories, but earlier episodes said that the early comics mostly used Thories and other aliens as Communist allegories. I’m not sure how all this lines up with GWV, but I’d be amused if there were two distinct administrations running the Thory military, and one was more Nazi-ish, another more Soviet-y, and a third that was GWV’s forcible unification of the two previous factions.
