Just keeping track of all the food metaphors Christopher and Adam use in The Letters Page
The Void is jelly (American jelly, which is like a jam that has been strained?)
The Host are gelatin dessert (what I would call jelly). Or pudding.
Time and realities are boba tea, where the boba are timelines and the tea is the Sea of Time. Also one of the boba has a weird attachment of The Block on it.

Here's the easy distinction between jelly (American style), jam, and preserves: jelly is made with only the fruit juice, jam is made with the whole fruit but pureed, and preserves have chunks of the fruit in them.
