You won't be able to contain the (s)laughter http://theletterspage.libsyn.com/interlude-9-slaughterhouse-six
This should have just been an episode.
I really wanted a future section, even if each only got a sentance. Or who else was in the RPG's slaughter house 6.
I Really hope they cover tactics Glamour With Miss Infomation.
I am Currently Relistening to the whole thing, (prep for the RPG) and will jot down the other pod casts (already listen to Legacy and BB though). The food podcast is my favorite. Now do you want every version of the food podcast or just count any podcast about food to just count as 1?
I would say one reveal in this episode has me confused because of what is seen between issues referenced in Ambuscade's deck and the villain's deck along with artwork used.
Ugh. I am a whole 2 hours away from being able to listen to this episode, it's torture!
Well just know they do a great impression of you.
I don't doubt it! I changed my speech patterns to mimic Adam's last attempt so I'm pretty sure they can match it now...
I may be misremembering something, but I thought C&A said in either the nemesis episode or the RevoCorp episode that Re-Volt wasn't associated with RevoCorp....
They were answering a question about the first 4 letters of his name.
But now, they say Re-Volt was both an experiment of and employee of RevoCorp.
Did I remember incorrectly?
Why not check the transcript on the wiki!
Re-Volt isn't tied to RevoCorp - he's benefited from their services, but he wasn't part of the company.
(and yes, I did notice your name begins with the same 3 letters of revocorp, COINCIDENCE?!)Yeah, probably
Thanks for the suggestion!
According to the notes from the RevoCorp episode the question is asked "is ReVolt tied to RevoCorp?" and the asnwer is no.
"Re-Volt isn't tied to RevoCorp. He's benefitted from their services, but he wasn't part of the company."
Pretty sure in this interlude they talk about Re-Volt drawing a salary from RevoCorp.
Caught you red-handed, Christopher and Adam!
This is from the WalkingTarget notes
So they do conflict a bit. They said he benefited in that RevoCorp episode and in this one mentioned he worked for them.
I want to point out that my summaries are by no means a "transcript" as I'm doing an awful lot of paraphrasing. I do my best to get across the general meaning of what was said, but if the actual wording of a statement is important, my summaries are probably best used as a tool for browsing through the actual audio by jumping around and seeing what they're talking about ("ok, they talk about that after what I'm interested in, so I'll go back a few minutes - nope, too far… ah, here we go") given the lack of timecodes for anything.
In this particular case it's pretty straightforward, though. I'm double-checking and this part is at around the 54:53 mark: "Re-Volt is not part of RevoCorp even though his name starts with 'rev'." … "Re-Volt has benefitted from RevoCorp's servicees, but is not in any way affiliated with RevoCorp."
The wiki page has the summary for this one now, by the way.
Retcon away people on the Wiki.
I wanna join now to help with all the La Comodora retconing , I feel like there will be a lot.
C&A try hard but there is just far too much going on in there world for them to get everything right. Good thing they can Blame the writers at Sentinels Comic for all the missed contonuity, like what they did with Glamour, and How they only fought the Enned once both before and after Venagance. . . .
Yeah, the Re-Volt thing made me sit up and go, "What?"
Gotta say, this was totally worth it just for the Glamour stuff. We got so much more info about the game from her side of it than I would have thought! :D Those unnamed individuals who don't listen to the Interludes are really missing out!
I've given some time for people to listen the episode so here an item that bothers me which is the reveal about how it is Glamour impersonating Ambuscade in the VotM deck. First and foremost, the incap clearly shows the face of Ambuscade which seems odd if that deck isn't supposed to represent him leading that team. Second, it has references to Freedom Five 702 which is referenced in Ambuscade's solo deck. The VotM deck has multiple references to the series The Deadliest Game which primarily follows Ambuscade. Artwork shows Ambuscade in situations, shrewd ambush, that don't make sense for an illusion to be doing. Then Glamour in the deck references Freedom Five 270. Lastly, the bio for the deck talk strictly about how Ambuscade formed the team. So even though a Slaughterhouse Six event occurs without Ambuscade that VotM deck doesn't represent that event very well.
My take: Just because the VotM Ambuscade was Glamour, doesn't mean they can't use art, quotes, and info from other Ambuscade references in the deck. Plus, the heroes don't know it's not actually Ambuscade. As with the heroes, the incap isn't necessarily matched chronologically with the timeline…
I'm fine with it. That's just me, though.
Take it as you wish!
Yeah I kinda get the impression it's a blend between both the with-real-Ambuscade and with-fake-Ambuscade events, perhaps.
Seem weird to make the incap reflect Ambuscade when he isn't involved heavily. Something else I've seen but can't discuss make this bother me moreso.
I loved the info on Glamour and the MAdam's Carnival. Now that she is confimed a) magical and b) still around and working with her carnival I'm going to have so much fun finding a way to tie her back into the world, though it seems Christopher and Adam may already have schemes for that.
Then perhaps the wiki page should not refer to it as such?
There is a transcript section of each podcast page. Unless somebody's been moving my summaries they shouldn't be in that part, but in "quick notes". I am unaware of anybody actually completing a transcript for any episode thus far, but whoever put together the template (Jeysie I think) planned ahead for them regardless.
Lynkfox created the Podcast template, FWIW.
And yeah, there's two sections: Quicknotes, which WalkingTarget uses, and Transcript, in case anyone is ever brave enough to create actual transcripts but is currently now empty. I think I'll leave a note to Lynkfox to try to make the difference more prominent or ideally auto-hide the Transcript tab until someone puts an actual transcript in there.
(I had started on the idea of transcripts, but then not that long after ran into issues of having basically zero energy or ability to concentate much in general in my life. If I ever figure out how to not feel like crud, I'd like to start the project back up again among other things.)
Did anyone else get annoyed by the assertion that gravity goes up as you go closer to the core of the earth (in the discussion of Magmaria)? I did, and I looked it up, and it is actually true on the earth.
Inside a planet of uniform density, the gravity force is proportional to the distance from the center, as opposed to what happens outside, where it's inversely proportional to the distance squared. (That is, outside the planet, gravity goes up as you get closer to the center. Inside, gravity goes down as you get closer to the center.) This is a fun exercise I did in physics class at some point.
But the earth is not uniform: the core is much denser than the rest, and as a result the gravity still goes up underneath the earth's crust, until you get about halfway to the core. Apparently the maximum is 1.09 times the surface gravity, so it may well be true that Mag Man feels lighter on the surface.
I'm assuming that Christopher and Adam knew all this.
I wonder what Ray Manta knows, given his belief in a hollow flat earth. Inside a hollow earth, there would be no gravity (free fall). It seems that Ray Manta knows plenty of physics and would know this.
Reference: [1308.1342] The Gravity Tunnel in a Non-Uniform Earth
I already knew the "Earth is not uniform" loophole (probably for a similar long-ago physics class reason), but their statement did bring it to mind.
All hail Gloombeaver.
I didn't know or think of any of this (I must have not been paying as much attention in physics)
However, I did know that the Earth's core was incredibly dense, and that the closer you are to a dense mass the higher the gravitational pull. Guess I just never considered what would happen if a planet was uniformly dense, that seems like a bit of weird physics (stuff that totally works and makes sense, but defies the common perception you would normally have) I may have to look into it a bit.
*Throws fist in the air*I wouldn't be surprised if Glamour is Madam Mittenmeier or something like that.Edit: this was stupidly said. What I actually mean is that Madam Mittenmeier was like this first Glamour one of the former ones, and still had connections with the new one.
A bit off about the "still has connections with the new one" thing, but I wasn't in the only one. But, I got the name of the first Glamour ![]()
I'm so happy they laughed at that as much as they did. I think I'll need to do a cosplay of Gloombeaver. You know, after Agent of Gloom Spite.
Soon as I heard Christopher say Magman feels lighter on the Earth's surface, I thought, "wait a sec, GMm/r^2 and 4/3pirho*r^3…" I scribbled for a hot second just to make sure I had everything in order, logged on to the forum, and was about five seconds from a "Ray Manta was right!" hollow Earth joke when I scrolled down to this post.
And bustin' out arxiv, too! dpt, I am not worthy.

Oh no, someone spilled alphabet 'n' numbers soup all over your post!
Too many physics for a thread about a pretend comic podcast.
(JK, whatever floats your boat.)
I was quite entertained by the idea of Setback, Kismet and Re-Volt all being friends in some alternate reality…
I demand a Bionic-Christopher and Dual-Cultist Adam (Sun and Gloom) variant for the Vengeance deck.
That is a great alternate reality to consider.
I also find it immensly amusing how many high-level proffessionals various gaming forums tend to attract.
Seeing LAwyers, Lit. Professors and a people with a master's degree in middle ages warfare arguing about the flight speed of a dragon doing a fly-by strike of a city can be… an odd experience.
He likes to turn his brain off.
Incidentally, Darths and Droids is an excellent example of how to be a good DM, I think. (Obligatory disclaimer: I have basically zero RPG experience )
Darth and Droids is excellent. I think I finished Empire Strikes Back before I fell off the updates. Probably need to restart so I can keep track of some of the more intricate plot lines.
I liked DM of the Rings better; Darths and Droids goes so far off the rails from the Star Wars story that I honestly can't tell you who's who or what's going on half the time.
I admit to being a bit biased towards DM of the Rings as the author is a nice guy with a main blog with a ton of interesting thoughts regards music composition, programming, writing, roleplaying, and game design/the gaming industry, among other topics.
That said, DM of the Rings is more a showcase of what not to do as a DM... and what not to do as a player, for that matter. It's self-depreciating satire of roleplaying by a roleplayer.
Honestly, I've had a bunch of fun with some of the other Screencap comics that have popped up. Most of them are... bad, I'll say, they are bad, but the following are actually pretty good.
Friendship is Dragons (My Little Pony and D&D 4e)
One Piece: Grand Line 3 point 5 (One Piece, obviously)
Naruto: Jutsu and Jinchuriki (Middle of the road if I'm honest, but shaping up to be pretty decent)
Avengers, Roll Initiative (if it ever gets off Hiatus, I've really enjoyed the movies before Avengers being flashbacks for character creation or previous campaigns. It's a great concept, just frustratingly slow to update, if it hasn't been abandoned by now)
Mind if we get links to those?
In the same order I posted them initially

http://grandline3point5.thecomicseries.com/comics/first/
http://jutsuandjinchuriki.thecomicseries.com/comics/first/
http://avengersrollinitiative.thecomicseries.com/comics/1/
By the way, I literally have hundreds of webcomics I've been reading at one point or another. If anyone is ever looking for something to read, I may be able to provide a link. Either something I've read and enjoyed or something in my massive backlog of "this looks interesting, I should get to this some day"
Oh yeah, totally agreed.
I'm just saying it's easier to follow the story when you don't have to remember that Han is really Greedo or that they changed the personalities and alignments of half the characters.
Well, I read through all of the Avengers comic. It's a shame it's been oh haiatus so long. Despite the filler, I was pretty entertained by it.
Darths and Droids has its own story for the universe, instead of copying the one from the movie as if it was an adventure. And the Lord of the Rings comic started Darths and Droids when the writer said they didn't think any Star Wars fans had it in them to treat Star Wars as a roll-playing game.
Personally, I enjoyed Darths and Droids' story much more than the Lord of the Rings one, and felt it stayed on track with their story better. The Lord of the Rings one felt, to me, like unconnected snippets of roll-playing sessions.
Thing is, I read DM of the Rings because I like Lord of the Rings.
I started reading Darths and Droids because I like Star Wars.
The former uses images I know to follow that same plot as background, so it can get away with being disconnected because it provides a baseline. The jokes are about the source material that I know and understand.
To me, at least, Darths and Droids using Star Wars images for a wholly original story is just distracting. I don't look at Darth Vader and see Padme. I don't look at Han Solo and see Greedo. I don't look at the Emperor and see ... whatever bizarre, poetry-nonsense-speaking whoever he's supposed to be. I see the characters and how they were burned into my mind 20 years ago when I first saw them. The jokes have become less and less about the source material and more and more injokey toward the comic's metafiction.
I keep seeing images that I've known basically by heart since I was a kid, and that overrides whatever story they're trying to tell and the whole thing ends up muddled to me.
It's one of the comics I'm basically reading out of habit more than anything else because I honestly could not tell you what the plot is at this point.
