So while Tactics seems to be the place where all the horrible, awful stuff happens, the RPG seems a lot nicer on the whole (though not too nice, or else what would you do for campaigns?)
Here's some of what's been gleaned from the Letters Page and the Starter Kit:
One theme is the existing heroes stepping back to be mentors and guides for potential new PCs.
- The Freedom Five are now the Sentinels of Freedom, specifically stepping back from adventuring as much to train up new heroes instead. Legacy has given the title of Legacy to Felicia and taken up the name Heritage instead. Absolute Zero spends his time trying to teach new heroes what it actually means to be heroes in the ethical and philosophical sense. Tachyon is spending her time more with administation and of course teaching science. Chrono-Ranger sometimes hangs up with them and provides weapons training, along with Bunker doing combat training.
- Argent Adept is busy being a musical caretaker to Akash of the Many Names who is (at least for now) a benign, massive tree that's been both recovering and becoming one with Megalopolis. He's been learning about the Virtuosos from her and from any new instruments he finds, in the hopes of finding new Virtuosos to teach and learning how to teach them.
- Naturalist, meanwhile, is walking the Earth as a sort of shamanistic figure who can give advice about the natural world as he looks after it for Akash's sake while she recovers.
- [s]The Prime Wardens are still a thing, though we don't know for sure what their current goals are, and there are personnel shifts. We have it confirmed that Visionary and a reincarnation of Anubis have joined the team. And it's possible that Argent isn't on the team .[/s]
- The Prime Wardens nowadays consist of Argent Adept, Anubis, Fanatic, Visionary, and Arataki (the alt universe version of Haka).
- "Our" Haka, meanwhile, is over in the Tactics universe.
- The Dark Watch are sort of split in their new thing as Rook City's Neighborhood Watch. Expat and Setback are working as the "field operatives" of the team, while Harpy does reconnaissance . Fixer, on the other hand, has gone back more to his old sensei and dojo days.
- KNYFE, Deadline, and the Void Guard are all off in space having space adventures.
- Captain Cosmic is also out in space, though he is not so much "having an adventure" as he is "injured and lost".
- There's a new group called Daybreak, which so far has Felicia as Legacy and this universe's Vanessa Long as Muse, as its members.
- Unity and Benchmark are part of a new group called the Paradigms, under the employ of RevoCorp who is now much less shady.
- Tempest is heading up a new group called G.L.O.B.A.L. that's been formed by the UN to serve as a galactic peacekeeping force.
- Omnitron-U is still around being a hero.
- Baron Blade has gotten far more serious about his villany and is a presence in a lot of villanous goings-on.
- The Ennead seem gone for now, while instead Ammit is busy doing... something... probably not good... with her new stewardship of the gates to the Underworld. Apparently she's the source of a lot of villanous types in this timeline.
- Chokepoint is out in space gathering power again and battling against the Void Guard and winning.
- Plague Rat is less of a threat to the populace and may even be regaining some of his humanity.
- Glamour reforms the Slaughterhouse Six, apparently kicking out Ambuscade and recruiting Kismet.
- Gloomweaver is exorcised from Dr. Medico and is out and about again.
- Various Citizens are still around, though no longer Citizens of the Sun proper.
- Biomancer is up to far more active shenangians now that the Scholar is out of the picture and no longer a threat.
- Proletariat is just basically chilling in the Siberian wilderness no longer particularly being a villain or a hero.
- Ambuscade is actually doing good now, as both a private investigator and as the "Night Hunter".
So, matters of curiosity:
What do you think the fates of upcoming heroes and villains will be?
Who do you think are the other members of the Prime Wardens, Daybreak, G.L.O.B.A.L., and the Paradigms?
How do you think various individual plotlines are going to shake out?
What sorts of heroes and villains are you looking forward to playing?
Where do you want to take the timeline in your games?
