Crazy Theory
Scholar is Citizen Anvil from a future timeline.
Both are about defence. Both have (typically) a yellowish glow. Both don't say much. Both look alike, mind you one out his hair in a ponytail and has a little more weight, the big difference is that he's just an older version. He settled down, and realized there's not enough time for hate, violence, and non-dude things.
Is this too far fetched?

Yes.
Okay, I'm kidding. But seriously, there are several discrepancies in their bios. Names are different, birthplace is different, eyecolor is different.
Most damning of all, they have different skin tones. Eye color changes are common. Names can be changed. Birthplace can be a matter of perspective if something "made me a new man". But a skin-color change from one natural shade to another? When was the last time you saw that happen?

It was a wild theory thought up in a somewhat buzzed hazed late at night before bed.
- Name and birthplace: He didn't want to be associated with his unscrupulous past, so he changed it.
- Eye colour: Some people's eyes change colour with age
- And for that skin colour, maybe being in Insula Primalis, and hanging around Citizen Hammer just gave him a wicked tan!
- The stone he carries is a source of great power.
- Also, the legend that is Christopher is the used for the art for Citizen Anvil. The variant for Scholar wears a vest. Christopher likes (loves?) vests….
COINCIDENCE?!
Yes. I'm pretty sure these are all coincidences

I mean, it's a fun theory. Maybe you should write in to the Scholar episode of the Letters Page. :)
