Hmmm....a couple of reveals I wouldn't have expected to be associated with Mr Fixer's background.   I'm glad the questions I had were answered during the main backstory they did.

So now we have a pretty good idea of the premise of the RPG: The PC's are mentees of an existing hero team (or perhaps represent different teams).  Both Dark Watch and the Freedom Five take on "apprentice" heroes.  I'm sure the Prime Wardens do as well.  Void Guard... possibly.  Idealist and Wraith aren't really the mentor types, but on the other hand, the Obliveon Shards are probably destroyed at that point, leaving the team significantly weakened.

"Ah, you think darkness is your ally" - moments before a few vampires tasted some ethereal knuckle sandwiches.

Kung-Fu lasers, and starvation.

I absolutely love that his ability to overcome his blindness comes from Kung Fu.  This episode made me an even bigger fan of my favorite hero.  I'm going to have to play him tonight now.

Best imaginarily ret-conned 70's comic figure of all time.

What I like about this is it really feels like Fixer was using Mantis style against Expat, and Monkey Fist against the vampires.

I really, really want a Black Fist Variant just so I can play funky beats while I play him.

You don't need a variant to do that; the power to play funky beats was within you all along!

First of all, this episode was amazing. So is Slim.

I will just comment that my wife has been doing a big project on the physics of the 1919 Boston Molasses Flood, during which three Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of molasses crashed through the North End at 35 mph. So, my whole conception of the physical properties of molasses is colored by that.
