The Parsons family has handed down a recipe over the generations. Over the years, the recipe has changed. Each baker has left their mark on the original creation, honing it to their tastes and the preferences of their family. Some have changed the icing, some have changed the ingredients in the cake, new machines have been invented to aid in baking, mixing, and shaping... but this is still at heart the Parsons family cupcake.

Perhaps you will enjoy it as it is, a golden cupcake with vanilla icing. Perhaps you will see it and it will motivate you to change the recipe further to accomodate your own preferences.  Legacy will have your back, and will be first in line to try out anything you have created.

Here is the cake recipe I used... with some slight alterations to suit my own preferences.  I like a bit less sugar.  

Here is the frosting recipe I used... though I used a bit less cream than it called for and a bit more vanilla.  

The Tasiest Legacy: Next Evolution

Over the years, Felicia Parsons has grown a little less fond of the sugar overload of frosting.  She's started to make her own changes to the family recipe by using jam and fruit as icing instead of buttercream.  Raspberry is her favorite, as it gives enough of a sour note to add complexity to the sweetness, but there are still lots of variations to try!

Peanut Bunker

A core of delicious peanut butter, armored in chocolate cake. Layers of chocolate and peanut butter are swirled together for the icing to ensure that directed hunger attacks are deflected.  Peanut butter chips maximize the deliciousness output, though ammo is limited due to ineffieciences in the load bearing nature of cupcake icing. This has been noted, and new designs for the next cupcake are being tested in R&D. 

Peanut Bunker: Core Breach

Even the best armor will fail after enough strikes with heavy weaponry. Fortunately, backup cupcakes were available to continue the fight!

Lessons learned...

Attempt 1

Apparently coconut oil isn't interchangeable at a 1/1 ratio with butter.  Also, there are apparently different types of chocolate for baking? 

Attempt 2

It was either too much flour, too much stirring, or too much gunpowder. In retrospect, I should have questioned getting the recipe from Ambuscade, but he DID say that they were Amanda's favorites.

Hoo, boy - baking is very much a craft & science more than an art. Seeing some of your descriptions, I am not at all surprised at the results of the first couple attempts.

I'm not a professional chef, but know a fair amount about the science of good cooking. Ask away if you've got any questions left after those batches & I'll answer as best I can.

Are these for sale, because I sure as hell cant make these, but I want them. Also, what's the cube on top?
