The Fabric of Despair

I was working on story ideas for the RPG and noticed that the book that gave citizens Blood, Sweat, and Tears their powers is called the Fabric of Despair. There is also a set of 4 comic books with that same title quoted from for card references in Gloomweaver's deck, including both of Cult Leader Massey's quotes.

So were Blood, Sweat, and Tears members of the Gloomweaver cult before they became citizens? Or did they find the book, change, and then Cult Leader Massey got the book from them? Or is it all just a coincidence?

Considering they called themselves the corpse covonant and were pretty gothy kids, it would make a lot of sense to me that they had dealings with the Cult of Gloom just based on who they were as people. And it would seem rather odd to me if they got their hands on a major Cult of Gloom text without being somewhat close to them ya know? I have no idea if they were actually ever official members, but it wouldnt surprise me if they ran around in the same circles

Their abilities don't seem to match up with Gloomweavers minions. I mean, none of them got any powers from the Grimor of Curses besides, like, shooting fire and infernal energies. But it seems like something Christopeher would do. I asked him on the redit page how much he had made of the story before the game was published, and he said the vast majority. So its possible.

I'm pretty sure they weren't connected to anyone possessing actual magical know-how.  Their story reads to me like three goth kids with pretensions who got *really* lucky/unlucky and ran across an actual grimoire.  Thus why their powers are less "magical might" and more "occult radiation accident".
