hey folks with the new of the final expansion I thought that there should be a main thread for everything that has to do with this final wave before the end . This thread I hope this time will be active since it a good idea to keep everything on one thread so it eaiser to access and find . So the point of this thread will be for clues , theroys , speculation and pretty everything else that has to do with the final part of the story this include heroes , villians , enviroments , character art and flavor text .
Link to final expantion picture - http://greaterthangames.com/sites/greaterthangames.com/files/images/Oblivaeon-sil-w-logo.png
With the final expansion picture we get a better look at the main villian of the story so with that we have to ask who is this final villain , what do they want , how did they come to be , will they have help , ect

I think what the villain wants is to destroy all existence, at least that was said in the Scion's Aid page (IIRC). There was also that whole thing with Deadline coming to destroy Earth to prevent the end of all things.
As far as help goes, there's scions. Not entirely sure what scions are, yet.

I think the reason he chooses nowto end everything is because he realized that the amount of, and the cumulative power of, the super-powered beings on earth had nearly begun to rival his own power. And thus he would eventually be less and less all-powerful in relation to the rest of the cosmos as time went on. So he plans to destroy everything and start things over again. He commanded Progeny to weaken earth's heroes, and soften them up in preparation for his arrival. What he didn't expect was for the various superpowered beings of earth to decode his signal to and from Progeny. This, in addition to a rebellious Scion sharing information with the heroes of earth, led to them realizing that the only way they stand a chance is if they drastically increase their power-base.
Thus, Nightmist opens a portal to... EVERY universe in the multiverse, pulling through multiple versions of themselves, increasing the relative strength of their side exponentially.
This also explains why Deadline wanted to destroy everything on earth. No more life on earth means no more consolidated power-base that could rival OblivAeon's own. And thus He wouldn't choose to destroy everything... yet...

Wouldn't Deadline have wanted to destroy Earth to kill the Progeny buried inside it?

Possibly but it doesn't seem like he was aware of Progeny from what storyline information we have.

I assumed progeny was not only there to weaken the heros up, but also as a way to measure their strength. After all, if it was just to weaken them up, the head wouldn't have detached and flown off. I like to think of the head as a messenger capsule of sorts

Deadline was trying to destroy weak points on Earth in order to save the people of Earth, so they wouldn't die like his people did.
Chokepoint goes through similar changes when she merges with his tech.
When they fight Progeny they pull even more at the timelines that already were messed up.
I think that events on Earth are destabilizing the fabric of reality, and Oblivaeon is coming to fix the problem.
We are the rats that chewed through a power cord and shorted out the fuses. The maintenance guy wakes up, finds a mess and tries to clean it up only to have the rats gang up and call their friends who chew through the freaking walls to chase him out.
Now the Land lord is coming over to exterminate the problem.

Re-posting this over here. There is so much going on in my head I'd love to start talking about, but I'm being called away for a movie with my parents.
think I need to head over to the comics world page, but here's an interesting thought based off scions being people who we've seen before.
Oblivaeon has the Aeon men, who look like robots, and he found his scions and offered them "collars". Then there is the idea of him destroying and then potentially reforming everything. What if this is all about control? What if the idea of "divine dominance" is at play here, the idea of a god like being who needs absolute control and authority over all things.
The heroes and the villains of the muliverse are getting too powerful though, threatening not the being directly, but it's idea of its own control. They can defy it and that is unacceptable and they must die. That makes Ra's blow even more insulting. They not only defy it, but actually injured it!
And we have villains that play into that trope.
Voss used his sciece to genetically engineer soldiers he controlled. Dawn brings people back from the dead to continue to serve her, they can't die without her permission. Chokepoint controls and manipulates the world around her. The Matriarch controls birds andif the Tactics info is remebered correctly the minds of others, and the Mask according to one of the new stories, is trying to control the Matriarch. Kismet controls fate and luck, to an extent. Kaagra has the Bloodsworn Gladiators who serve her, bound to the Colusseum.
Of course, my recent literary course might be coloring my observations abit.

I have some points that I would like to talk about it so here it is :
I feel that any and all things that are cosmic the final villian has played / had a role in it is some way
The Celestial Tribunal and the final villian must be connected some who judgeing by the design - http://sotm.wdfiles.com/local--files/environment:the-celestial-tribunal/celestial_tribunal.jpg
the ship sword might be the final villians weaopon well it could be possible or was intended to be - http://sotm.wdfiles.com/local--files/environment:the-celestial-tribunal/celestial_tribunal.jpg
captain cosmic incap shows what it looks like the final villian making him a herald - http://sotm.wdfiles.com/local--files/heroes:captain-cosmic/capcosback.jpg
like point 4 this mean that the villain could have more heralds like Galactra , she might be
Can anyone look through The Celestial Tribunal and tell me if I a on to something

It's possible OblivAeon and the Celestial Tribunal are tied together since the leader of it shows up in PW Captain Cosmic's incap. Good catch on seeing OblivAeon in the original Captain Cosmic incap as I certainly didn't think about that piece.

Could be, but the way he turns hero in the promo makes that feel kind of weird. Also, every time we see him, its associated with green energy, and while that could certainly be changed, it seems weird to me.
I could totally see it being Voss, as some folks have said.
My big suspect is Visionary. She keeps being squirrely about Progeny, We've seen her use that pink energy before, and her body is currently being occupied by Dark visionary (at least during progeny's fight), but we see her back in her original costume on Cerebral Hermorrage, where she is specifically fighting the Aeon men. We also know that (dark) visionary is pretty capable of being snide and contemptuous, and regular visionary occasionally comes off as being distant. I could see a Scion empowered version having the worst qualities of both.

Something that's been bugging me for a little while now - has that thingy in Mists of Time ever been identified? The big figure crushing what looks like the Earth in its hand? It was thought that that was going to be the Big Bad Cosmic Thingy, but looking at it closely (one handy feature of the Steam version where you can browse anyone's deck :D) it doesn't really look anything like OblivAeon - it's not wearing a helmet or gauntlets or anything, from the looks of it. It's just a big blue guy covered in stars (ro at least, white dots that look like stars ;)).

The thing on Nightmist's card is a rough outline. I don't think you can say with certainty that it's not him, you know? And atm I'm at a loss for any other character that would hold the earth in it's hands and be that large on a cosmic scale. If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck right?

So... there is one group of badguys we have not yet identified, i ... think. They show up on a LOT of cards... the orange robot like guys on
Argent Adepts Syncopated Onslaught
K.N.Y.F.E's Incidental Contact,
The Visionary's Cerebral Hemorrhage
Omnitron-X's Defensive Blast
Sky-Scraper's Thorathian Monolith
The Celestial Tribunal's Paragon of Sentience
They have yet to be identified, I think.... if I am wrong on that, let me know so i can update the art page!
Could they be scions?

I remember that when Vengeance was coming out, GTG was always a little weird in their wording of how many villain decks would be available with it... kind of like they are now with Oblivaeon. I wonder if maybe Oblivaeon has a similar vengeance mechanic where he is one villain with H decks, each with a different aspect of his to defeat. So the battle would always be different depending which of his decks are fought against.
Or something like that.

As interesting as that could be, I honestly hope they don't do that. Only because I fear another Vengeance situation: The first version wasn't great, but the second (Villains) really made it fun. And we're not getting a second.
That's just my (probably irrational) fear, though. We'll see how it plays out…

The one thing I really want to get is fun.
I see OblivAeon as being a really tough and harsh fight. Our group doesn't generally enjoy things like that as much. For example, we don't play Iron Legacy or Spite much, specifically because they usually aren't fun games – they're exceptionally challenging games that don't generally end up with many laughs.
I fear this is going to be a set of dark stuff. I'm hoping at least the heroes and environments will be entertaining, though, so I've not completely given up on the possibility. I want the final set to be fun, not just challenging.
It could be interesting if the fight shifted from one place to another, that you couldn't find all the information you need in one place. Maybe each Scion is in its own environment, and you have to go to where it is to get the information you need…

The fun factor is important, but even if the "villain" fight is challenging and really hard, the 5 hero decks should have a lot to do with this being a great expansion. I'm pretty sure Vengeance is my favorite or second favorite expansion just because we got 5 top notch hero deck in that one - so anything close to the quality of those decks will have me thrilled

I actually like Iron Legacy as an opponent a lot more than the Chairman or the Matriarch because while they're all dificult, The Chairman and the Matriarch take a while to beat you. You can know you're going to lose long before it happens, so it is kind of deflating.
With Iron Legacy, the game only lasts three or four turns one way or the other, so it's much quicker in that respect, and I kind of enjoy the mad dash to do damage against him.

This is a neat idea. I could see (H) environments being involved and each one has an "Isolated Hero" effect on it, so it only interacts with the heroes currently in that place. Then there's some additional mechanic for moving your Hero from one Env to another. It would bring a nice, scour the world for clues feel to the game and i like the symmatry of V-Style = Multiple Villains and O-Style = Multiple Environments.
Pity we're going to have to wait a long while to find out the details.

I wasn't around when Vengence was first announced, did >G reveal details about its new mechanic early in the process (as in, how likely is it that the Kickstarter will answer a bunch of our questions).
So, anybody want to guess on whether there will be any big reveals about FILTER in the final arc? I've been theorizing for a while that they are secretly connected to the Cosmic Entity in some way.

It's probably completely wrong, but I'd like to see the expansion clarify the "Legacy problem".
I mean : each generation, Legacy gets more powerful. Iron Legacy was already powerful enough to become the planet's tyrant - what will Legacy be like in ten generations ? A hundred ?
If the family does not disappear, the "Final Legacy" may be of OblivAeon's power level. At least. And anyway, at any time, one Legacy may turn "bad".
So - is OblivAeon a future Legacy ? Or the result of a "Legacy" family from another world/time ?
Does OblivAeon search the galaxies for signs of "Legacies", destroying them (and everything around them) before they can become dangerous for him (or for others) ?
Or is he the origin of the Legacy's cumulative genetics, maybe ?
It seems OblivAeon may have been responsible for the Shattered Timelines - but they also were about Legacy, and who from the father or heir would die, even if the heroes managed to build a timeline where both survived. Was the plan, for big O, to end the family line ? If so, did he decide to "intervene" personally because his other plans had failed ?
I am probably wrong, but I can't forget this idea that, somehow, Legacy is the reason OblivAeon is so interested in Earth. Not surprising, as I have been obsessed with the "Legacy Problem" since the base game ;)

Seems more likely to me that OblivAeon is a primal entity of the uni/multiverse and unconnected to Legacy. His name does suggest that his job is to reduce everything to nothing.
Maybe he is a reset button!

And Jansa Vi Dero would be the "save" button...?

I speculated a long time ago in one of my Footenotes series that Jansa and our cosmic entity were the two parties of "The Wager" the created the multiverse, where Jansa is the one who lost when she said nothing would happen and Oblivaeon won when something did happen (the creation of the universe as we know it).

I don't think that OblivAeon would be the one who bet that something would exist. Why would he destroy everything right after...? I do believe that OblivAeon, while still an incredibly powerful entity, is not the entity that either won or lost the initial bet.

Must have accidentally spent all the bet winnings on pizza. And now it’s almost time for his next mortgage payment. Time for another wager.
Maybe the Enclave’s function is to preserve selected life from one uni/multiverse to the next, thus allowing the continuation of life from one cycle to the next.
Maybe Earth is the one time life came about on its own without consent/intervention of Jansa or Obliv and thus pissing Obliv off.

Maybe the Void is some kind of emptiness-beyond-the-worlds, and OblivAeon spawned from it somehow, or is a manifestation of a part of its power that "went rogue" or something, and these Oblivion Shard thingys are bits of the void that have fallen through or broken off other creatures that spawned from there at other times, or something? Maybe the Void is actually some kind of entity and was the one that lost the "Nothing will happen" bet that spawned the Wager Master. Or something :D.
