Which Hero should have / needs a sidekick?

Hello everyone I am new here but I did check this fourm from the outside and after a long wait I decided to join so 1st thread

Ok now on to this topic
I just wonder if any hero needs / should have a sidekick to help them fight crime . I think the wraith should have one since she is the "batman" type but what do you folks think

I don't know he seems lke a solo hero to me

Batman is a loner, yet he's one half of the most famous hero-sidekick combo.

I don't read comics all that much, but have noticed that the Sidekick trope seems prevalent. Are there actually very many sidekicks in comics? Were there ever? Besides Robin, who?

The ones that immediately come to mind are Speedy, Kid Flash, and Aqualad.

Edit: Based on my knowledge, DC seems more focused on sidekicks than Marvel is.

Depends upon what you consider a sidekick.   I'd say Jimmy is sidekick to Superman.  Bucky was Captain America's sidekick.   Wolverine seems to have a younger X-men member as sidekick like Kitty Pryde and Jubilee.   Green Arrow has Speedy.

In response to the original question I'd say that I could see Guise having some odd sidekick or at least considering another hero as a sidekick much to their chagrin.   We know Legacy has a potential sidekick from Spite's deck.   To a degree you might consider Unity to be Tachyon's sidekick.  

Yeah, for a while, DC seemed keen on having every one of its heroes accompanied by a smaller version of him or herself.

Does Young Legacy count as Legacy's sidekick?

The Idealist is kind of a sidekick, too.

Sidekicks are interesting to me. It seems like comics are moving away from that, but the history of it has led to some interesting situations.

For example, Young Justice is one of the best superhero cartoons in the last few years, and it at least started as a group of sidekicks getting their own team. But the sidekick aspect was minimalised, since it was all about what they did by themselves.

That said, Scholar seems like the most likely, in my mind. It would have to be someone special, though. They'd undoubtedly have to put up with months or years of just hanging out and nagging him to teach what he knows, while John constantly rebuffed him. But, after a while, it would just naturally start to happen. Ok, I may write this story now...

Based on something I saw recently in relation to the Scholar maybe Guise tries to be his sidekick.

Guise's sidekick is a bunch of seasoned lentils that became sentient during the time Wager Master was on Earth.  In fact particles of extreme improbability turned it into the most inteligent being on our planet, although unfortunately it is unable to communicate with any other being.  Naturally it follows Guise around, and together they are known as Guise and Dals.

I was right with you up until the name. Now I'm going to have to retroactively disagree with your last 10 posts to make up for it.

So we need to have Unity and Young Legacy team up to form their own crime fighting duo?

Throw in The Visionary and you have a good team to defend Megalopolis while the Freedom Five are on an away mission.

The problem with sidekicks in SotM is that they're hard to do from a game perspective.  As a sidekick, they should logically be weaker than the regular heros, but that makes them less desirable as a playable character.  If you add them in as a second character card for the hero (like the Sentinels), then you have a card which probably has less health and is less useful the the main hero, and you get a problem like with Spite where it's not stragically sound to try and keep the sidekick alive.

This is a world discussion so game balance is not what this is about.

I would think that Guise's sidekick would be called Meta Lad or Sidekick Boy, and would probably die every issue and replaced next time without any mention of it again.

So would that mean Guise's sidekick wears a red shirt then?

Seriously though: I could see Fanatic having a squire-like sidekick who cares for her armor and keeps candles lit in her sanctuary

Also, I've always kind of thought of Unity as being Tachyon's sidekick.

Only from Tachyon's point of view if either of them have that opinion, Unity, from what I can tell, seems to consider Tachyon the big sister she never had.

I guess it would depend on what you mean by a sidekick.

If you simply want someone who admires the hero or helps from afar then that's one thing. For example, if memory serves Expat was a Bounty Hunter for a while (from her Bio I think) so she could logically have a younger individual running databases and grabbing files for her back at the home base (where would Expat stay actually?)

However, if you want someone to fight beside the hero... I doubt anyone would last long. The sentinels heroes seem to be more of the type to tell the kids to go home because it is too dangerous. Exceptions being Unity, Young Legacy and The Idealist because they are simply too powerful to actual stop them from tagging along if they choose to do so.

I just don't see many of them having the patience or disregard for allowing signifigantly weaker individuals to enter a battlefield with Spite, Gloomweaver, Apostate, Grand Warlord Voss, ect.
