So, I asked the GTG guys at PAX Aus (just this weekend passed) "Who would you get to play Baron Blade in a SOTM movie?", and they suggested I ask here on the forums.

So I'm expanding the question.

Which actors/actresses would you cast to play various characters in a SOTM movie?

Now, I'm going to seperate this into two answers:

Current Day Casting - i.e. actors/actresses who are alive and current today.

Dream Casting - i.e. any actor/actress from any era/history.

I've been thinking about this but really haven't a clue, so just seeing what the SOTM ciommunity out there thinks.

Conveniently, this was started in a previous thread! :sunglasses:  That one is old enough, though, we could probably use a more current conversation…

I hope you had a great time at PAX Aus!

The only one I could think of right now would be Nathan Fillion - if he'd get back into shape - as Legacy.

Had an awesome time at PAX Aus and got to play Sentinel Tactics for the frist time (Kicxkstarted it, but haven't had a chance to play it yet).

I need to learn to play and get Galactic Strike Force as well.

Nathan Fillion as Legacy - I could see that.

Then I'd vote for Burt Lancaster as America's Greatest Legacy (in the sepia toned flashbacks).

If he wasn't so dead, I mean.

Without looking at the other thread, my immediate thoughts are:

  • Absolute Zero - John Cusack
  • Argent Adept - one of the Phelps twins
  • Beacon - overdone maybe, but Hayden Panietierre
  • Bunker - Mark Wahlberg
  • Captain Cosmic
  • Chrono-Ranger - Clint Eastwood, duh
  • Expatriette - Angie Harmon
  • Fanatic - Kristin Stewart, believe it or not
  • Guise - Matt Bomer
  • Haka - Lawrence Makoare
  • KNYFE -Miranda Otto
  • Legacy - Jeremy Renner
  • Mr. Fixer - Djimon Hounsou

  • Omnitron-X - voice by Brian Blessed
  • Parse - Frema Agyamen
  • Ra - Ioan Gryffydd
  • The Scholar - Jeff Bridges, of course
  • The Sentinels - Dr. Medico = Matthew Lewis, Idealist = Christina Ricci c. 1992,  Mainstay = Vin Diesel, Writhe = Tony Shalhoub
  • Setback - Anton Yelchin (aka Odd Thomas)
  • Tachyon - Emily Bett Rickards
  • Tempest - Noah Wyle
  • Unity - Alexandra Daddario
  • Visionary - Karen Gillan
  • Wraith - Gina Bellman

Villains:

  • Akash'bhuta - voice by Tilda Swinton
  • Ambuscade - Vincent Cassel
  • Apostate - John Barrowman
  • Baron Blade - David Tennant
  • Chairman Pike & the Operative
  • Citizen Dawn - Kate Beckinsale
  • Dreamer - Elle Fanning c. 2005
  • Ennead (skipping this one, as I don't want to make THAT many decisions)
  • Ermine - Beth Riesgraf
  • Friction - Joanne Kelly
  • Fright Train - your choice of pro wrestler-turned-actor
  • Gloomweaver - Malik Yoba. Failing that, Sharif Atkins
  • Iron Legacy - Jeremy Renner, in keeping with the above
  • Kismet - Azita Ghanizada
  • La Capitan Maria Helena... - Anne Hathaway
  • Matriarch - Emma Watson
  • Miss Information/Aminia Twain
  • Omnitron-I/II/V - voice by Brendan Fraser
  • Plague Rat - Brad Pitt
  • Proletariat - Sebastian Stan
  • Spite - Simon Vance
  • Voss - probably overdone, but Benedict Cumberbatch

I reserve the right to come back in and edit this as I remember the names that go with some of the faces I can see in my head or to correct spelling.

Updated filling in some of the gaps.

Mainstay has to be Terry Crews. Why? BLOCK! BLOCK!

Also Fright Train. I have more, actually, but I have to go to work now. I’ll come back to it later.

When I think super hero/villian, I would have to say that Bruce Campbell deserve a role somewhere. Be it as a villian or a super hero, I think he would be great in this sort of movie.

I could see Bruce Campbell as a older version of Setback bookending the film as a narrator.

I keep going thinking about these. I still need:

  • Argent Adept
  • Dr. Medico
  • Writhe
  • Tempest
  • the various members of the Ennead
  • Proletariat
  • The Wrath of the Cosmos-related characters

On some consideration, I think I'd put Matthew Lewis in as Dr. Medico, and one of the Phelps twins (Fred & George Weasley from the Harry Potter films) in as the Argent Adept since I can't quickly think of any red-headed male actors & am trying to not have to do wig/makeup jobs except where required.

Tempest and Writhe feel older-ish to me -- i.e., closer to my age than to the ages of a lot of the actors already mentioned, who are in their late 20s and early 30s. Maybe take Noah Wyle and Tony Shalhoub, respectively?

Splicing these into my original post, and updating one other.

This would be so much better than a movie, especially since we’re in this weird tv golden age. It would be like an awesome JLU, not that JLU wasn’t awesome.

I’m really curious to see who people would cast for Con.

All I know is if anything sentinels ever got made I would want Steven Blum to be his voice.

I saw that one against my better judgement, and it was okay until about 3/4 of the way through when Jim Carrey couldn't help but slip back into being Jim Carrey.

With another actor, I'd have thought it was a great film, but he completely ruined it for me and made it extremely hard to empathise with the character.

Cant stand that smug showing-off-y catchphrase-y LOOK AT ME I'M BEING FUNNY thing he does. The Mask is probably my idea of movie hell.

Will Farrell and Jim Carrey are outstanding at playing the one-dimensional comic character, but when you try to make that character carry a movie it doesn't work.

The Truman Show (which I don't like at all) was really well acted by Carrey, and it wasn't a sketch comedy character turned into a leading role.  Most of Will Farrell, Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey's films are a sketch stretched out into a movie, and those suck.

RE
Reckless
2014-11-12 02:27 UTC

They typically are at their most impressive when they attempt more dramatic or dark roles, which they don't often do.

That being said, I'm a nut for The Mask (got me to read the drastically darker and very loosely adapted from comic book) and grew up with The Truman Show.  I've just heard Eternal Sunshine... or Cable Guy/Stranger Than.../Punch Drunk Love as exceptions for most people who cannot stand those three actors.
