I see your point about total damage, but Unload is no where near as good as Lightspeed in practice.  Why?  you might ask.  Because Tachyon has card cycle built into her deck and can put mulitple burst cards in her trash a turn and 1/2 of the cards in her deck quallify.  If I see Tachyon go through a game where she plays fewer than 2 LSBs and any of them do fewer than 12 points of damage it is almost shocking.

Expat on the other hand.  Well I've playerd her more than 20 times and am seeing results like Donner.  I HAVE seen her Unload with more than two guns out, like 2-3 times in 20 plays.

So in one case it happens multiple times per game, in the other it happens once every 8 games or so.

I see that you acknowledge this in the last sentence of your post, so I guess it is about how the rating system is done.  If you are going to rate a card on how effective it is in the game, I give LSB a really high score and a Unload a really low score.

The number of copies of the one-shot is considered.  I don't consider the deck mechanics, as there is a whole section devoted to that.  What I consider is if you have the card, what is the value of that card in different situations.  Unload can exceed LSB early game, late game LSB is better single target, while Unload is generally far more versatile in what it accomplishes.  One requires your trash to get stacked and not shuffled, the other requires gun cards in play.

I put them at even.  The fact that Tachyon's mechanics enable her to pull off LSB twice as often (average estimation) as Expat and Unload does not factor into the one-shot ranking.

Could one of the admins change the thread title to "Giant text ziggurats (was: An attempt to make hero ratings)" so that the un-interested parties (notably those with mobile phones) can avoid it?

For the first time I'm viewing this on a 1024-wide monitor instead of an 800, so it's slightly less annoying than usual, and possibly even slightly cool.  But I still think the people who are continuing to expand the ziggurat, even after people who phone-read complained, are being kind of jerks.  (I know, black pot-kettles and glass-house stone-throwers.)

My mouse has a scroll wheel with a button next to it that detaches the clicky gear thing in it, so at the click of a button I can have a free-spinning scroll wheel. Makes fast scrolling super easy.

Enjoy this Ziggurat free area.  relax in it's format friendly atmosphere.  see the blank white space, let the blank white space fill your senses.  become one with the space.  think about bacon.  bacon and tacos.  now think about a ziggurat, see the ziggurat.  fill the ziggurat with tacos, then top that with bacon.  enjoy.

PH

That could really work, you'd need to stack floor effects, and if you had it be a sunken Ziggurat you could go top to bottom, and it could involve awakening the gods that dwell in the Ziggurat, and maybe have some artifact that would boost villains or heroes depending on who held it.  I'm going to go work on this now.

Oh my god! Oh my god, it’s a double complete Ziggurat! Oh right in my forum. [Laughter] Oh my god. Oh my god, what does it mean? Tell me. [Crying] Too much. I don’t know what it means.
