So my wife has decided to let me get a new game as a present for passing a huge exam that says if i can continue on my program or not. No clue what I want to get though. Any thoughts? Games that can be played solo or not too many players are great.
I don't know what you have, so I'm just going to throw some suggestions out there:
- Bottom of the 9th
- Pandemic (and lots of co-ops): You can play this solo using two characters, and as a matter of fact I have.
- The D&D dungeoncrawls in a box (Wrath of Ashardalon, Castle Ravenloft, Legend of Drizzt, Temple of Elemental Evil): Plays 1-5 players.
- Legendary Deckbuilding games: They're a pain to sort in cleanup, but any of them are good (Marvel, Alien, Predator)
- Robinson Crusoe: Can be played pretty well as a solo worker placement game. It is brutal, but tells an engaging story.

D&D - Never sure on these because of the fact its hard to get people in my group to play RPGS
Legendary Marvel - I have everything but villians, and the new captain america expansion. May get villians

King of tokyo, mice and mystics, everything made by gtg and dice hate me, a few other random ones. may end up getting an expansion to king of tokyo since my cousins love it but been kinda wanting something new

Nope. There are decks that you play cards from after each player's turn that generates monsters or hazards.
They are also not that good…
But you can make up your own mind by watching a series of very good "Let's Plays" of the board game, starting here
If you like Pandemic, check out Forbidden Island and Forbidden Desert. They're made by the same people, and in the same family of games mechanically, but are also very different, and very beautiful as well as fun.
A question: Will your wife play anything with you?

Race for the Galaxy and Splendor each do 2 players very well.
A cool find we made this PAX East was Dragoon. You stomp around an island as dragons, taking gold from human villages. It’s super high quality (and therefore more expensive) but it’s a good tactics game and my wife and I have played it well with 2 players a couple times.

If you can get at least 3-4 people to play with, I can always recomend The Red Dragon Inn, a game that's something like a grown-up version of Munchkin.
It's a game where all the players are characters from a D&D style dungeoneering party that have rested up and are now partying at the Red Dragon Inn(hence the name). There the players gamble, rough-house and drink, all the while trying their best to get eachother's share of treasure from the previous adventure.
What's great about this game is that there's so many different character's/decks that you can play, each unique! It verges on Sentinel's levels of variation! I'd start with the base set; it has a human female fighter(Fiona the Volitile), an elf preistess(Deirdre the Preistess), a halfling rouge(Gerki the Sneak), and a elderly human wizard with his Monty Python-esque rabbit familiar(Zot the Wizard and Pooky).
As far as I know there are at least 5 base sets to get with a mess of single deck expansions, but even one 4-deck set is enough to have quite the time with friends!
Netrunner is also a good choice. There's also a game called Samurai Spirit which can go from 1-7
Well… there are a number of novelty games that are designed to facilitate exactly that activity. I'm not going to go there, though.
