I also live in Columbia, MO, and I bleed Cardinal red.

Of course, I'm really looking forward to an I-70 Series. We were robbed in '85.

@jajd2c That would be awesome! The way the NLC teams are playing right now, however, I have some concern that I'll wind up having to cheer for the Pirates in the NLCS :P

I don't know if Cole and the Pirates can beat Arrieta, even at PNC.  I was really hoping the Cards would fall apart, partly because I think Cubs/Pirates deserves a seven game series.

@phantaskippy

It is certainly possible that I'm over-estimating the Cubs ability to fall apart in the Wild Card Game; the one-game format certainly favors them. In any case, I suspect that the Cardinals will go down in five in the NLDS, in which case I'll be sad if it is to the Pirates and less so if it is to the Cubs. Any team can have a bad century, but now they're well into their second and I'd like to see them go all the way one of these years.

cubs pirates are 50/50 in that wild card game on who will win. However the pirates have not done well agAinist arrieta.

I think that a Cubs/Pirates wildcard game slightly favors the Cubs because Arrietta will pitch, but probably no more than 60/40

Polanco hit him, we need a few others to do so too.

Hopefully seeing him for a third time in a month and a half will help.

Cole is an Ace, but he's not the type that goes off and pitches a shutout.

Polanco? Cole? For a moment I thought we were talking about the Phillies.

I'm cheering for the Cubs, myself. The last time they won a world series was in 1908. To put that in perspective, the last people to see a Cubs championship had never heard of a world war. They've not even been to the series since 1945.

Cubs playoff wins are like the Haley's comet of ballgame wins. You've gotta cheer for them to make it; if they do, it'll be huge.

Plus, they scouted and drafted Gred Maddux, so, you know. Cubs for the win.

Best part of a Cubs win is knowing that we knocked the cardinals out of the post season

Yes!

Look, GtGs people and others, I get it, you have perfectly valid reasons for liking the Cardinals, but, I just, can't relate.

I'm with you.  The Cardinals need to go away and let some other team have the stage.  They earned their time, but dang I'll root for anyone (Even the stinking Cubs) if it means I don't hear a word about the "Cardinal way" for a few months.

@phantaskippy

The Cardinals will be back and in the playoffs next year, I'm not worried. That's just what happens when you do things the Cardinals Way ;)

I can't get too upset about the Cardinal fans, after all Steelers fans are pretty obnoxious about their franchise being better than everyone else.  (I mean it is, obviously, but you don't have to rub it in everyone's faces)

I need to make some Pirate cards for bottom of the ninth when ever that comes out.  I'm dying here waiting for it.  Literally dying, every second my life is ticking away and still no Bottom of the Ninth.

BTW, what kind of bonuses would you give for wearing burning candles in your beard?

P.S.  That XKCD is one of my favorites.

The initial estimates were 200,000, maybe 250,000. That's how many Royals fans were expected to swell downtown on Tuesday for the World Series celebration. The Kansas City mayor estimates 800,000 people attended festivities for the World Series champion Royals. Streets were clogged Tuesday for the downtown parade and rally at Union Station. Kansas City throws party to celebrate Royals' championship After all, Kansas City's total population is about 470,000. About 2 million live in the area.
