Happy April Everyone! You read that right, and it’s not a late April Fool’s Joke - after nearly a year of negotiation, we are happy to announce that Handelabra now owns Sentinel Comics®, including the basis for this game: Sentinels of the Multiverse: Definitive Edition, as well as the brand Greater Than Games®.

Devastating Aurora

When the Greater Than Games team was mostly dismantled in April 2025, it put the future of this game in question. Yes, we technically still had everything we would need to make Sentinels of the Multiverse 2, and even the first expansion, Rook City Renegades, but what about beyond that? We had been planning a future for Sentinels 2 that would be at least as long as Sentinels 1. Plus - our development process has always been a collaborative one, what were we to do without many of our key collaborators?

Conservation of Energy

While development on Sentinels 2 has never fully stopped, we slowed it way, way down while we considered how to proceed. Among the options were canceling the game entirely, and refunding you all as best we could. But the best option would be if Flat River Group would be willing to sell Sentinels/Greater Than Games to us. You know how we feel about transparency, but this is one of those situations where we really had to be publicly silent - legally and explicitly - until we were confident of the outcome, which we now are.

Aegis of Resurrection

In February 2026, Sentinels 2 development ramped back up, and the game is still expected to ship in calendar 2026.

For you on this campaign, that is the most important information you need to know. But we know that most of you are not just Digital Sentinels fans. So what does this mean for the tabletop?

Greater Than Games - The Brand

Handelabra and Flat River Group have closed a deal that brings all Sentinel Comics properties under the Handelabra umbrella. But in addition, we have purchased the brand “Greater Than Games”.

An important note because we know you will ask - the ONLY games that are a part of this deal are Sentinel Comics related properties:

• Sentinels of the Multiverse (All Editions)
• Sentinel Comics RPG
• Sentinel Tactics (et al)
  • Sentinels Miniatures
• Galactic Strike Force (yes really, it’s canon!)

Is Handelabra becoming a tabletop publisher?

Handelabra is a Digital Tabletop company. We make Digital Tabletop games. We primarily wanted to buy Sentinel Comics to protect that business, but these are tabletop games to start, and we are not interested in becoming a tabletop publisher. But lucky for us, we know a lot of good people who are good at exactly that type of business…

The Future

April 28th, 2026 is National Super Hero Day in the US**.** For the entire month of April, we’ll be celebrating the future of Sentinel Comics, and by the end of the month – National Super Hero Day – you will have the answers to so many of the questions we know you have about the next movement in the symphony that is “Greater Than Games”.

For your ongoing support and excitement, we remain eternally grateful. We just ask for a little more patience over the coming weeks as we have lots to share, and we can’t wait to embark on the next phase of this journey with you!

Letter’s Page? ? ?

My sole interest at this point is the RPG (which is most likely not a profitable part of the IP at this stage) but this is still much better news than anything Flat River Group ever brought us. Content to remain patient and see what the future brings.

Good news from a different direction: On Reddit, Darrell Louder let folks know he got the rights back for some of his games!

Sorry I wasn’t able to get out here sooner. They posted an official announcement, and Jaye was on their 3pm ET stream this afternoon, answering some questions. I wasn’t able to make it to that, unfortunately, but I’m looking forward to watching it later…

It was a little bit of a nothingburger of an announcement, according to discord. Basically Handelabra is creating a media holding company to manage the IP rights of the Sentinels brand. No real info yet about what that means, we’re supposed to get a few more details next week.

But also, John and Jaye won’t be the ones making the announcement next week. I wonder who could be doing it…

If the announcement comes in the form of a letters Page episode, the excitement I currently lack will rematerialized.

It’s not as much as I would have liked, but I feel like it’s important, as it’s a step in the process. They have to do this to get to the next step of having a company that then licenses the IP to make the physical games. Just have to get there…

While I try not to be the kind of person who devises radical prognostication from incidental happenstance, the latest digital one-shot is a reference to a certain Letters Page letter writer, so I have definitely had this thought in the last 24 hours.

I assume this is totally unrelated to the Jigsaw Puzzle, and I just clicked on the latter by accident without realizing it.

Forget the Livestream, we already have the big news. Not only is the FRG snafu officially un-snaffed, putting Christopher and Paul back in charge, but they also have back Matt Kroll and Rae, and presumably that’s just the beginning.

Livestream just started here. Daring choice to open the stream with pitches for upcoming games rather than, say, addressing Adam’s new status as “creative collaborator” rather than management or employee, or perhaps explaining how and when they plan to complete the fulfillment for the SCRPG kickstarter. I wonder how long it will be before they get around to those subjects.

EDIT: About 75 minutes in for some discussion of the RPG KS fulfillment. Usual (if you’d been following the KS page) “there are bottlenecks” stuff (without fessing up to being one himself) from Christopher, and apparently they’ll be pdfs until all books are finished, at which point they’ll be printed and shipped out to backer en masse to save on shipping cost. Sounds like several more years before that mess is resolved, and that’s assuming they can get their old contractors to come back and work on them.

EDIT: Corrected the time for RPG fulfillment discussion. Apparently I spent less of my life listening to the stream than I thought.

Hooray! Happy to learn that things will continue in a new iteration. I’ve had very mixed feelings about my new copy of Disparation given the whole waves hands thing. But I am unambiguously thrilled for the team and eager to hear about their future plans!

Won’t speak to the rest of your post, but this isn’t actually new. I don’t know the exact specifics, but Adam transitioned from employee to contractor some time before FRG shut down GTG. I believe that he was art director for Sentinels of the Multiverse, but because he basically wasn’t involved in any of the company’s non-Sentinels stuff it made more sense for him to only be attached to those projects.

I saw a couple of folks make the same statement during the stream, but I missed the news when it was news - unsurprisingly, if it was on Discord (which I don’t use) or one of podcasts after I stopped listening to them.

Have to say, after taking a look at the big thread on the Purple Site, I’m inclined to agree with Gary Fury’s overall view of these developments. Hopefully people feeling optimistic about the RPG’s future at this point wind up being proven right (in 2028 or so) but my glass is a lot more than half-empty at this point. For once it would nice to be wrong about my pessimism, though.

Interesting. Given how closely identified he’s been with the whole Sentinels IP since the very beginning I can see reasons you might not want to announce that.

Yeah, I wasn’t aware of it. I suspected it when Adam started doing more game streaming during business hours, and taking commissions, but I assumed GtG was just keeping him on payroll as a sort of reverse honorarium.

It’s also worth noting that GtG does not currently control greaterthangames.com (this website), and now live at https://greaterthan.games, which doesn’t have a forum yet. The implication is that GtG will get this site back at some point, but can’t right now for legal reasons. Which is really odd to me—typically if you have a website that you don’t have the trademark for, the trademark owners can petition the registrar to transfer it, and potentially sue for it. But the registry expires 2026-10-06T18:50:53Z, so I’d guess that GtG can claim it then.

I have a suspicion that they might rely on the other existing social platforms like Discord for the community engagement. That was kind of de facto where things moved some time before the FRG purchase. With a small team of five, forum management might be an extra load to handle.

Maybe, but as far as I’m aware a Discord server needs mods just as much as a forum.
Plus, unless they make a new one, there’s no official, free Sentinels or GTG discord that I’m aware of. There’s the Letters Page one, but I believe you’ve gotta subscribe to the PatrAeon for that, and there’s the Realm of Discord one, but that’s not officially affiliated with them.
I guess they could just continue relying on an unofficial public discord and an official paid one, but that seems like an odd arrangement to me.

The original forum mods were people they’d built in-person relationships with, volunteers who were helping out. As more were needed, folks that had proven themselves trustworthy enough were brought into that role, again as volunteers. Over the years, though, for one reason or another — including the transition of much of the community to Discord — almost all of us have moved out of the Mod role. There really is little traffic here, at this point, although the playtesting area is heavily used while playtesting is active.

Personally, I just can’t keep up with Discord, as I cannot be constantly checking over the course of the day, so I miss most of the discussions/involvement there. I really miss what we once had, but we have had some great times, here.

I would not be surprised if they find a new way to manage playtesting and shut down the forums, relying on the existing environments of Discord and social media for other engagement. But I also wouldn’t be sad if they kept them around. Occasionally I’ll stumble on some old conversations and be delighted by the posts we shared.

The near impossibility of backing up this much forum content makes me really hope >G or Handelabra has a plan other than “let the fans do it for us, and burn all their old work if they aren’t on the ball”.

Unfortunately, we’ve already lost a lot of the older content due to past migrations not bringing everything across.

You’ve just cited the primary reasons I do not and will not engage with Discord. Utterly useless format for people who don’t want to compulsively check up every few hours, and terrible at preserving past conversations so they can be revisited.

This forum is mostly dead, sure, but it’s still a valuable record of the past.

I mean, yeah, pretty much. Discord is the modern successor to IRC, not to forums. It’s meant to be a chat room that you can occasionally save details in, not a place to store content.

Unfortunately, I’m not sure there’s a workaround for that. Forum culture has largely been eaten. There’s chatrooms, there are wikis, and then there’s Reddit-style information searching (which is also on the decline.) The few forums I’m still involved in are all in slow decline, without many new folks arriving to replace the slow drain of older members.

They said on the livestream that there will be a new way to manage playtesting that will certainly involve Discord, but didn’t elaborate. I 100% agree that Discord is a terrible format for organizing information in the way that playtesting requires. Querki is perfectly designed for it, forums are adequate. It’s not that hard to roll off-the-shelf forum software; we’ll see what Christopher and Matt K. decide to do. Or, the playtesters will, anyway.

I’ve used Querki a bit myself and agree, it’s very well-suited to playtesting. Certainly much better than Discord for that.

This is really good news. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen after everything that happened last year, so it’s nice to see the series has a future. Looking forward to seeing more updates and hopefully playing Sentinels 2 later this year.
