Looking at the wiki, it seems to imply that there will be three more expansions after vengeance, but that might just be the page formatting.

Has >G confirmed a set number of expansions to the game?

If there are three more coming, and they stay with the 2 heros, 4 villains format, we'll end up with 29 heroes and 31 villains. If Iron Legacy and the Vengeance five remain the only team villains, then we'd have a 1:1 hero to villain nemesis list. That would be snazzy.

There has been a lot of talk about this, and I'll probably be ninjaed and/or corrected about this.

As far as I remember we have at least 2 expansions coming. Wrath of the Cosmos is confirmed on the Vengeance box, it will probably be a 2 hero, 2 environment, 4 villain expansion, to match up with Shattered Timelines like Rook City and Infernal Relics did. The final expansion of the game is, I believe, confirmed to be a mega-expansion like Vengeance.

There will most likely also be an unknown number of mini-expansions during this time as well.

A lot of people have done the number crunching on heros vs villains and nemesis numbers, and we have come to a tentative conclusion that the mega-expansion will most likely contain at least one villain turned hero, most likely The Matriarch... though we haven't considered the opposite case too much, which is that the villains will be re-done as different villains, becuase it seems less likely.

Why is villains redone as different villains less likely? Baron Blade now has 2 decks. No reason it couldn't happen to others.

But, the wiki is (as the curator) mostly Formating reasons yea. There is at least 2 (Wrath and Final) and my guess wouldbe 2 others as well (because of the IR/RC release, then we'll have a ST/WotC release and a Unknown/Unknown combo release as well in the future. Just a guess though)

That would also give us 3 before the first mega, three after the first mega, and ending with a second mega. Makes sense in my eyes. :p

This is what makes it difficult to predict how many of each type of deck we will have by the end.

I think I would enjoy the matriarch turned hero, Tho if converted directly from her current incarnation she would be a lot like unity.

Everything's supposed to fit in the EE and Vengeance box, if that helps any. Of course, that could change.

I think it has changed. I can totally fit the next expansion in, but anything more than that and it will start getting a little complicated.

There are only 2 expansions post Vengeance. I am relativly sure that has been confirmed. One standard expansion (like RC, IR, and ST) and one Mega Expansion.

I'v run the numbers before elsewhere, but the short/short of it is that the final large Expansion will have at least 4 villains. My money is on 5. There will either be (A) No new hero decks (B) Villains turned into hero decks (to help combat the Cosmic Entity) (C) New heros that use old Nemesis symbols (least likely imo)

Having 4 new Villains, plus the Cosmic Entity fight, and a few bonus Villains-turned-hero decks would certainly fit the billing of "Mega Expansion" in the same way the Vengeance format did. But those are just my guesses.

I believe there will be 42 new expansions or 266.

42 based on the epcienter of all reality, and i just took 266 completely by random.... yeah

I just hope there are more minion based heroes, there doesn't seem to be many heroes with other target type cards.

What are the numbers you're running to determine how many expansions are left? Is it just the nemisis numbers, or are there others that I'm unaware of?

This.

It would make complete sense to have a base set, then 3 standard, then a mega, then 3 more standard, rounded out with the second mega. Of course, there are always more minis that can get sprinkled in too.

EDIT: also, didn't Christopher say that Vengeance was the half way point somewhere?

Just my 2¢

I ran numbers on the possible format of the expansions.

I know there are 2 because >G said as much

To be precise, the plan is (and has been for the past several years) that there will be more than enough space to store every card in "Enhanced Edition style" (i.e., decks on edge with divider cards) once all of the expansions are released.

I know there are 2 because >G said as much.

Foote, you're going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on our own point of view. :)

The most intriguing "clue" is that ALL known heroes and 3 unknown ones have a nemesis in Vengeance ( counting the Five + their cards) - maybe suggesting that there is only three heroes left…

Right now, based on numbers, box size, content and gameplay, my hypothesis is that we may see a mini-expansion with a hero, maybe one other with a villain, roughly at the same time as Wrath of the Cosmos, and after that probably an expansion with only villains (the classic "nemesis" villain with one deck) and environments, no heroes. it would be enough to have a full roster of hero/villain pairs, ending the "cycle".

However there is a lot of potential for more "villain teams", mega-villains, villains who are not a character, and other forms of gameplay we haven't seen yet, some of them very different from what we are used to.

So, for me, it's "at least two" - I'd like to believe that Vengeance was only the beginning of the "second cycle" (or the "second big box"), and a third will follow. There is still a lot to tell, in my opinion. But Visionary refuses to speak - and Citizen Confusion ( also known as Citizen [REDACTED]) won't help :stuck_out_tongue: .

For now.

So three boxes then, I assume.

That's more stuff than I thought, and that pleases me.

Ignoring Iron Legacy (who is more of a mega-villain) and Vengeful 5 (who aren't intended to be played in the standard fashion) there are six** heroes without a major (i.e. Villain Card + 25-card deck) Nemesis Villain.

Assuming Wrath is 2H/4V/2E as the previous expansions, and assuming that the 2 Heroes have their Nemesis in the set, and assuming that the other 2 Villains match up with previous Heroes, (OK that's a lot of [CENSORED] assuming) we'd still need 4 more Villains to complete the Nemesis match-ups, which seems like something that they would be likely to do.

So 1 standard expansion (Wrath) and 1 mega (with 4 Nemesis Villains and enough unknown stuff to count as a "Mega") does seem to make sense.

Mind you, I'd love to see a new expansions come out on a regular basis for as long as >G can come up with cool stuff for us (which seems likely to be forever), but the 1 standard + 1 mega fits what we already have and already know.

**(Absolute Zero, Bunker, K.N.Y.F.E., The Naturalist, The Scholar, and Unity for those who don't have a quick reference sheet in front of them)

One more assumption, if 2 of the 3 Hero names revealed in the Vengeance Villain decks are in Wrath (and 1 is almost for sure based on the art) then we still have 1 more Hero unaccounted for. So (since I'm clearly big on assumotions today) let's just go ahead and assume that there's 1 Hero, 5 Villains, and verious other things in the Mega Box.

Don't forget mini expansions. Odds are, the hero that does not appear in Wrath of the Cosmos will be a mini-expansion that is released beside it.

With significantly less certainty than Foote expresses, this is what I believe also. I still believe that the Cosmic Entitiy is only being sent to attack by a villain that is more diminutive in stature. I also think there will be several mini-expansions.

My theory is that Guise is one. One idea that I had is that Guise, is a master of disguise and disguises himself as many different villains which could be explained as villainous looking characters being attacked by other villains, but also still could fit the confirmation that we have never seen Guise, only his disguises.

From the Naturalist's artwork, incap and when he is a rhino getting blasted, the reptile headed guy in WotC will most likely be his nemesis. That leaves either Captain Cosmic or Skyscraper (I am assuming but I feel confident) wthout a nemesis in WotC

My guess is that the Cosmic Entity is going to be a) Captain Cosmic's nemesis, and b) in Wrath of the Cosmos.

Regarding Foote's predictions: I doubt the last set will have no heroes, which would imply that current villians would get hero decks. I suspect that the Matriarch and the Operative would be two, but I don't know about the other 2 or 3.

Alternatively, they could add a Vengance Mini expansion (minimini expansion?), and then have the freedom to create 5 new heroes (they could still be converted villians, but they'd have their own nemesis symbols). Which would mean that the mega expansion would have 9 or 10 villians. Which is a bit much, but I wouldn't complain.

I could also see them rounding out the story line with three more 2H/4V/2E expansions and maybe a few mini-expansion hero/villain pairs.

Then they could close the line with a "next generation / adventure continues..." 5H/5V/2E mega expansion with decks for Young Legacy, Princess Blade, and so on.

I have no idea if that's what's going to happen, but it would make me happy.

It's been popular speculation for a while that the major arch of the card came will culminate with a "final showdown" themed expansion (the final one). Seems a resonable guess to me considering how thematic each expansion is as a whole unit. If you do not see the Cosmic Entity as the big bad, who do you see the final showdown being against? Whoever/Whatever is running FILTER perhaps? Baron Blade? Something brand new that hasnt been hinted at yet?

As far as the highest stakes go, I gotta believe the cosmic entity (or however it is implimented in the narrative) is the only thing (that we currently know of) with "final showdown" weight behind it. The results of the final showdown are massive and have huge impacts on the set and setting of the Tactics story arch (which even PTers know nothing about). Anything short of a major Galactus type battle for all the marbles of the multiverse would be kinda anti-climatic, for me anyway.

Capt Cosmic could very well be its nemesis. Heck, it could have everyone as its nemesis! Iron Legacy set precedent for having multiple nemesis Icons so that wouldnt surprise me either.

Normally, I'd agree with you about the Cosmic Entity being the big bad, but I just can't imagine them publishing a set called "Wrath of the Cosmos" and then releasing the Cosmic Entity in a different set. It would be like putting Iron Legacy in Vengance.

I will admit that it's hard to top cosmic beings and timeline collapse in terms of threat level, but I'm sure they've got something planned that we haven't thought of yet. Maybe Godzilla?

Though you could also argue that since the Nemeses are spread across the Vengeance team decks that they could be planning to release more "mini villain" decks that are compatible with Vengeance and contain more Nemeses.

It makes sense since I doubt >G would put so much effort into the Vengeance play mechanic and never expand upon it

Well, somewhere down the line (I have no idea where this originated) people started calling the last Mega Expansion the "Final Battle". I doubt it's official by any degree, but I do really like the name. If that's along the lines with their plan, the last expansion representing a final battle, it makes sense that Cosmic Entity would be introduced in WotC and then carry over to the Final Battle, which hopefully will involve a bunch of heroes/villains turned heroes teaming up for a last stand. Wishful thinking perhaps.

I'm not sure why people put so much stock in how many heroes have how many nemeses as a way to determine how many more expansions we'll get. No one ever said there'd be an even number. Won't bother me much if we ende up with a couple of nemesisless heroes, or if some heroes have extras.

For me, it's just hopeful thinking. I like semetry and balance. But, if it works out that some nemesis pairs go undefined… I'll make a frowny face and then get over it.

Pretty sure one of the questions we asked at the UK game day was along the lines of "Will each hero have a corrisponding nemesis deck?" And the answer was yes… but I could be misremembering.

I just think "Princess Blade" would be fun because her flavor quotes could all be homicidal versions of things Buttercup would say.

Wouldn't bother me either, I would like MORE nemesises, vengeance made me happy - but the "one hero- one villain" nemesis pair hypothesis is one of the few "clues" we can use to make predictions - with box size and the classic 2/4/2 deck repartition in expansions  A least the only clues that are neither story or art related, or based on >G misterious hints. But whatever our mental constructions, I am certain the team will surprise me.

I'm gonna bump this because I love speculation and, in my opinion, once a game says there is no more stuff coming out, I lose a lot of excitement for the game. So I hope we have 3 or more boxed expansions coming our way yet! That said, I think we are basically guaranteed a small, boxed expansion (WotC), a mega expansion (Final Battle) and some minis (Guise?, environments, Villain or two?). Outside of that, I hope we still have a few surprises with more stuff. And with that crytpic "enhanced edition style" comment above from Paul, I would love to see 3 EE sized boxes to haul around with room for tokens.

Multi-villain game. Use the minis to show which hero is fighting which villain. For any villain turn when that villain is not facing at least one hero, that villain gets to advance along a meta-villain track. The aim is to keep as many villains as possible from reaching the end of the meta-villain track. You'll need a board that shows the distance between various environments so your hero minis can travel between them.

I personally like well made endings. I like to be able to say I have the full set. And they eventually have to concentrate on other projects. Whenever they end this game I hope it ends with an enormous bang for our buck. I can understand the desire for it to keep going however. I also want to see it as a big 3 EE sized box set for making people's eyes pop out of their heads at game night and have all these little boxes for the rectangle tokens inside the box. Ahh, such is the life of a gamer.
