Just wanted to make sure I was playing the sentinels correctly.... If a villain card targets all heros is the damage applied to each sentinel or do I decide which sentinel takes the damage? In other words are the treated like unity's bots? Thanks so much!

Each one. They're all individual targets.

If it says HERO, then it's one of the 4, at your choice (Infection, Greatest Legacy, Kismet's jinxes, etc.). If it says HERO TARGET, it's all of them.

Also important is cards like Omnitron's Tech Singularity, as it hits each "Hero Character Card", lucky for The Sentinels that they only have 1 equipment in their deck.

Because he always has the "suit" - it's integrated into him. It isn't something he can go without, so it's always there. I imagined that was represented by his base power.
He does have an ongoing that allows him to do more with it, though.

Yeah, area damage is The Sentinels' natural predator. Tonight's game was The Naturalist, The Sentinels, Omnitron-X, and Tempest versus Skinwalker GloomWeaver. GloomWeaver's start was pretty chump, ground through it pretty fast, but the second he flipped... Holy. Crap. The Sentinels went down HARD. If something is targeting them individually, Dr. Medico is amazing at keeping his teammates in fighting shape, but the second the damage gets too far ahead of him, all he can really do is scratch his ass of pure positive energy while his teammates get paddled. The four of them together are a great combination of healing/tanking/damage/utility, but the second corner of that square is gone, it gets ugly fast.
The Idealist's Incapacitated side disturbs me in ways I do not yet understand.
We did have some interaction questions between The Sentinesl and GloomWeaver's Pin cards, but we figured it worked as such:
When determining "most cards in play" or "fewest cards in play", treat The Sentinels as a single Hero. However, when it comes to assigning damage from a Pin (or similar effect), the player chooses which Sentinel takes it.

You are correct in how the damage from the pin works, to my understanding. Just keep in mind that the Sentinels character cards (all 5 of them!) count as "cards in play."

i dont think the set up card counts as in play. with all set up cards it says ‘put the (character) into play, blah side up’ so the character cards are certainly in play, but i dont think the setup card is.

Setup cards are character cards right? at least with villains. Otherwise you could Stratosphere them and then Eyepiece them to the bottom of the deck. and they wouldn't be able to do anything.
If it wasn't in play the text would not be active, so I would think it has to be a character card.

Yes, yes they are. Read any of the villains cards, when it mentions a flip it says "flips X's Villain Character Cards".

Do they count as "in play" then? That doesn't seem right to me at all, which is why I leaned towards not calling them character cards in the same way Kismets Charm is a character card (which absolutely is "in play").

I always thought that was referencing the character card with the villain picture on it. So your saying Sentinels start with 5 cards in play for the purposes of effects that target the hero with the most cards in play?

That's when we get to the rule book on how to setup a game of Sentinels of the Multiverse. "Each player selects a hero, putting that hero's character card and deck into their play area". Since you are putting the Character Card into the play area, I would say it is in play. Every hero starts with 1 card in the play, while The Sentinels start with 5 instead.

Had a game last night with The Sentinels, Setback, Argent Adept, Absolute Zero, and Ra vs. The Dreamer in Wagner Mars Base. The Dreamer started with Illusory Demon, 2x Dark Hero, and the Oni. Then she drew Macabre Spectre. 7 dmg to highest, 4 to lowest, and 4 to all. The Sentinels flung a Dark Hero into Darkness, but the environment pulled Villainous Weaponry. And then the Dreamer pulled the card that deals X damage where X = the number of projections in play. If the Sentinels player had used Mainstay's ability instead of Dr. Medico's, he would have survived, since next round pulled a Meteor Shower.

Definition of Character Card from the rule book.
Characters Cards do not have the same back as the rest of their deck, rather, they have a Unique back that provides their extra rules, such as a villain's flip side or a Hero's Incapacitated abilites.

It should also be noted that The Sentinels incapacitated effects on the the back of the setup card, and it specifically says, if you have no hero targets left in play, flip this card. Since we have no frame of reference for flipping cards that are out of play, that's why *I* assumed it started in play.

Just better hope Miss Information doesn't play "'Explosion' in the Lab" on her first turn or else 1 of The Sentinels is going down right away.
Which also brings up another card from her deck, "Another Reality's Debt" should probably say non character cards or else the only choice you really have is to discard your hand unless you want to be incapacitated. Unless that's how it's supposed to work.

Envisioner: seems legit
Koga: I'm about 99.99 % sure that is not the intent. The Sentinels aren't the only heroes with character cards in play; that would be all of them, really. If that would cause you to destroy your character card, you could never choose it. Although you can destroy all of your cards if you have no cards in play, or discard a hand of 0 cards.

After re reading the Enhanced Rule book, it does indeed call the setup/rule card a character card, and it is put inplay. Interesting.
So will we maybe get a oversized Hero Card for The Sentinels giving them only one card in play???

Y'know, I wondered on this forum once before why "Threat" To the President says "non-character cards", while "Explosion" does not. Perhaps it was because if you could pick character cards for "Threat", a Sentinels player might just choose to incap their whole team in order to destroy it at the very start of the game. And that would be totally broken, right?
Which also brings up another card from her deck, "Another Reality's Debt" should probably say non character cards or else the only choice you really have is to discard your hand unless you want to be incapacitated. Unless that's how it's supposed to work.
By that logic, every hero would have to discard their cards every time ARD came up, or else incap themselves. I've previously asked whether a turn-1 ARD can be counted as satisfied by destroying "all zero" of your cards in play, by the same logic that you can discard a hand of zero cards to Toxic Seaweed. But the general consensus was that this wouldn't work…I forget whether it was brought up that character cards are indeed cards in play.

I'm making a single oversized card for the Sentinels (with four little hp tracker spinners. it's cute). You just don't flip it until all four are down for the count.

Character cards have never played by the same rules as other standar hero cards. They are their own thing.
No tempest can't sacrifice his character card that's nonsense.

@Spiff just a note on the one large card... I remember Christopher specifically stating that the Sentinels will start the game with the most cards in play because of the multiple character cards. So you may want to include text on your oversized card to reflect that, or they will not play as intended.

Not a bad idea, though the oversized Sentinels card is already really busy with all of the pix, rules, logos, etc. on there. I'll see if I can find room.
If I were going to put something, what did we decide - do the Sentinels have four character cards or five?

I was just IMing with Christopher about something else and asked him how many cards in play the Sentinels will start with. He confirms:
Five. Their "setup" card does in fact count as a card in play, though it is not a manipulatable card in the way that ongoings or equipments or targets are.

So if Explosion in the lab came up for the Sentinels (no other cards in play) they would count as having 5 cards in play, but 0 destroyable cards.
