I was looking for a Silver Gulch guide all over the internets, and couldn't find one.  I'm a little puzzled by how the Lost in Time card works.

Lost in Time is an alternative lose condition. It gives the heroes a ticking clock to deal with as well as the villains.

When it enters play, you discard the top two cards of the environment deck. Then, every start of the environment turn you take the top card in the discard and return it under the environment deck.

if, at the end of the Environment turn, you have no cards left in the environment deck, the protal to the past is closed and the heroes are trapped in the American West forever. This is the equivalent of losing.

It's similar to the Self-Destruct Sequence in Wagner.

[EDIT] What was the question? Should probably ask that first. Whoops.

That actually was the question, thanks.  I guess I'm just having a hard time getting it, maybe if I played it it would register.  Thank you for your thorough explanation!

So basicially if the environment runs out of cards and has to shuffle - you're toast.  Well, no, the environment deck won't run out because it gets fed a card from the discard pile every turn.

So in a worst-case scenario you have two turns to beat the villian or you lose.  That could be tough!

That's where Sustain the Portal comes in. Or where killing environment targets adds to the timer by adding to the discard.

Also anything that destroyed environment cards would destroy Lost in the Past and solve the problem.

NICE!  That sounds like a ton of fun!

The mechanic also includes a "mixed blessing" in terms of the Explosives Wagons.  They provide a flat +1 to all damage buff (to all sides), though you may have to end up destroying them to keep the portal open, or by accident (i.e. effects that deal damage to all targets or all non-hero/non-villain targets).  If brought to 0 hp, they explode, dealing tons of damage to everything in the game!  Ouch!

Explosives Wagon is an awesome card.  One of my favorites, It is such a great Environment card, since you have to plan around it more than deal with it.  Sometimes it really comes in handy too.

I thought those lose condition was if the enviro *Trash* was empty, not the deck. Am I crazy here?

Yes, but not for that reason. It is the trash.

And if you have two, they can quite easily blow each other up for even more fiery explosive pain.

You don't blow up trash.  You burn it.  Preferably in the can.

Really? I haven't been handling my trash properly, then. You definitely blow up the recycling, though, right?

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Since the first two can be accomplished by exploding it is natural to blow up recycling.  It's like breaking glass at the dumpster, everyone wins.
