Previous discussion of abbreviations/nicknames is here, but I don't advise you read all of it. That way lies derailment, frustration, and possibly a nasty little rash.

But I figured that a glossary would help new people (hi lovely new people, you’re very welcome!) and those of us who find abbreviations difficult to work out, and since pwatson1974 helpfully started one for me, here it is. Square brackets indicate which deck a card is from.

I know this is by no means an exhaustive list, so please feel free to remind me of commonly-used abbreviations/nicknames and I'll add them here. (Note that this is NOT a place for a discussion of whether a glossary is actually needed.)

Is Jerk Legacy not Iron Legacy, as opposed to Grandpa Legacy?

SI

No, weirdly. It comes from a series of g+ games where Grandpa had a bad but amusing habit of Gung-Ho-ing himself all the time despite other people having useful powers too.

I vote for adding a glossary entry for "Christopher" and I think "Adam", mentioning that there are Citizen cards in Dawn's deck based on them.  Also Ronway as a cultist in Gloomweaver's deck.  I've seen such references and taken a long time to figure them out based on context; I'm still not 100% sure which card is Christopher (I think it was Anvil, which would mean Adam was Hammer I think?).  Seems like they should be explained as part of this glossary.

Got a few more for you...

NPCU - Null-Point Calibration Unit (Ab'Zero Module)

IT - Isothermic Transducer (Ab'Zero's other Module)

MTC - Micro-Targeting Computer (piece of equipment belonging to the Wraith)

MDP - Mobile Defence Platform (Baron Blade's deck)

Omni-10 (yet another nickname for Omnitron-X)

Jim - Chrono Ranger

I'll probably think of some more at some point :).

I forgot about the slang thread. Awesome!

Yay, more good ones. Thank you!

I'm leaving out the real person names, partially because it'll lead to more confusion ("Wait, do you mean Ronway bit you in the face or the Cursed Acolyte did?") and partly because I can't help but feel that "cameos" deserve their own list. And if I included a few of the common ones here, it'd feel all incomplete not to have everyone listed and the list's long enough already.

As far as RL people cameos are concerned, I'd say that if you were gonna include any of them, at least include Anvil and Hammer (Christopher and Adam, respectively), since those are the two who probably come up the most often (especially as the former is probably one of Dawn's most annoying Citizens, after Truth ;)).

If this is a glossary for the entire site, and not just SotM, then GSF should be in there.

SI

I think there should be a separate GSF list, for simplicity. I imagine most new people will be here primarily because of one or the other game, and the SotM list will be long enough already without cluttering it up with a whole other game's worth of stuff.

FTFY - Fixed that for you

FWIW - For what it's worth

I don't know whether you want to add non-Sentinel terminology, but I remember being confused by both of these when I was new here.

I only just worked out from its context what "FTFY" meant as I'd not seen it written out like that before. "FWIW" is one I've come across previously, though.

While I agree that both can be confusing, if I open the doors to generic abbreviations we'll end up with an enormous list which will make finding Sentinels-specific terms (which likely exist nowhere else) increasingly difficult.
