Just making sure, the Spell Value on the bottom right corner is random?
I noticed on two Heedless Lash that one is "3" and the other is "2." Spiff's checklist only shows the value of "3" only, so I was confuse if the values are meant to be different.
Yes. they're different. This is what makes NightMist a more complicated, and sometimes frustrating, character. No two copies of the same card have the same points cost. The points are relatively evenly split between 1 and 4 with a slight bump the middle.
It's not quite random. IIRC, the distributions are all [1,2,3],[2,3,4],[1,2],[2,3],[3,4] or [1,4].
EDIT: Actually now that I think of it I'm wrong. Astral Premonition is [2,4].
They are not random. Christopher specifically chose those values to create interesting choices while ensuring a specific distritubution of the numbers. For example, you'll notice that no card has a repeat of numbers for that card; you won't see a card that has two instances with the same spell number. This gives you the opportunity to consider which cards you want to cast/discard, if you have more than one in your hand or know there are more to come...
Oops, didn't realize at the time that there were different values on the same cards (my wife monopolizes NIghtmist so I never got a very good look at her deck). I'll remove those numbers from my card list.
