CHRISTOPHER: IF YOU'VE STUMBLED INTO THIS TOPIC, STOP READING NOW. I'M DEAD SERIOUS.

NO JOKE, BROSKI. SECRET PLANS ARE BEING MADE HERE.

LET US HAVE A PRIVATE CONVERSATION. WITH EVERYONE.

NOT TO WORRY; NO MALICIOUS INTENT. ONLY GOOD INTENTIONS.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright, is he gone? Paul and Adam, don't tell him about this. I'm hoping some of us fans can do something nice for him. I'm posting this here so it reaches the maximum number of fans who want to help.

I think we all need to surprise Christopher by sending him something nice. In case you guys missed it, he made a rather lengthy post about how much effort goes into this company, and how much he's been doing to please us. He said that last week he put in about 140 hours into work at the GTG office. Do you realize how insane that is? This man essentially lived and breathed for us last week. And the week before, too.

We need to show some mega-appreciation. I seriously think those of us who can should get him some small gifts and send them to the GTG office. I don't care if it's cookies, flowers, a "thank you" card--anything. Let's just do something nice. It's the least he deserves.

Anyone want to join me on this? I think it would mean a lot to him if a lot of us sent things to him. We can make posts on here about how grateful as much as we want, but I think it'd show way more how much we love SotM and the things these guys have done for us if we send physical gifts.

So yeah, these gifts can be anything. Seriously, whatever you can do. Paul and Adam will also be recipiants of these gifts as well (though by now it's less of a surprise for them), but I think it'd be a great gesture for Christopher to emerge from weeks of non-stop work to find a loving fan response.

Someone please tell me they want to join in on this. We'll coordinate what we should send and when.

Evan,

I'll be in but the time lag of me ordering things and them arriving given I'm in the UK could make the cookies a bit stale. Any way for the international fans to buy into this?

Yeah, I missed Christopher's post, but I agree - these guys are killing themselves to make us happy.

I think this is a great idea, evandan55! :+1:

Does anyone have the >G office address? I didn't keep the labels on the shipping boxes I've received and I'm at work so I don't have the game boxes in front of me to know if it's there, but I want to make sure we all have it available.

Suggestion: For international folks, it would probably work for them to pick a person who's indicating they're going to participate that they trust. They can then provide that person some amount they're willing to kick in for a gift and the two of them can decide to either combine that with the receiving person's own gift (giving appropriate credit, of course!) or send separate gifts (if the two amounts are sufficient). We could try to designate a person to manage the activity for all the international folks, but I don't want us to tell people who they can and can't trust.

Now I need to come up with something interesting and entertaining for all parties involved… :innocent:

That's the thing: I say we all just send whatever we want. Just as long as you send something. Like I said, we could even just send thank you cards. But I know that I will be sending something of substance. What that will be, I haven't decided. I'm inclined to think cookies or something, but I might have something more creative than that.

How about as a rule, no matter what you send, at least send a thank you card if you're an America-based fan. International fans can use Amazon gift cards; that's a great idea too.

Once we've got a decent amount of people that are willing to join and have a gift to send (or can get and send) we can decide a general ship-by date for all of these. It'd be nice if most of them arrived for them around the same time.

There's actually some high-quality art from the original Core set that the >G folks have shared with some folks for use in projects like Spiff's. (I received it at one point but I'm not sure where it ended up.) Depending on what we're looking for, there might be something there we can use.

I'd vote, if anyone has it, that we use the image of Legacy, et al, at the barbecue. I know its actual usage in the cards is in the saddest possible context, but it feels like a picture with a very strong "community" subtext on the face of it. I know he posted the image in a KS update a while back; is that resolution good enough?

Also, Chris told me a while ago what his favorite whisky was. I'm going to see if I can dig that info up, and if I can and can find a bottle, is anyone willing to go in on a PayPal collection to send him one? (I have never attempted to ship alcohol before so I have no idea if that's viable, but I thought I'd mention it.)

Yes Christopher is Anvil and Adam is Hammer. Though I don't think Paul appears on a card yet, but Legacy is named after him. I know a few of the ten heroes are named after people they know in real life. Only one I know for sure is Absolute Zero as he is a Admin on here. I think I seen Wraith's in the original Sentinels of the Multiverse Unofficial Fan Club, not sure if that was just coincidence or not though.

A photo mosaic would be incredible. But can we get all of the art off a lot of the cards that aren't online? Would it require a high-quality scanner and a lot of scanning?

I think we should make a deadline for when we should have the gifts we're getting finalized. That way we don't spend forever just coming up with ideas; we force ourselves to act.

Spiff has all the character art only... so... 18 heroes, 18 villains, 12 promo heroes, 2 promo villains... front and back... plus Greatest Legacy... that's 101 images... plus another 20 or so released on the kickstarter websites. That should be enough, I think.

100 images isn't nearly enough to make a photo mosaic. That's a 10 x 10 grid of photos, even if they all align perfectly to form a larger picture, which they won't. You need hundreds of pictures to make a photo mosaic, chosen from hundreds more so the right ones can be used.

That would be awesome. If anyone would work on this and come up with an estimated cost for a paypal donations for this said mosiac. I'd pitch in for it also.

Edit:also regarding the worry about more cards. You can always do a few dupiclicates as long as they are spread out enough. I'm sure they would understand seeing a couple that are the same.

The hues and tones of the pictures can be manipulated to create the necessary shades for a mosaic as long as the contrasts work, it's part of the service provided by some of the mosaic makers. Granted it may still not be enough, but I think it can be done, it'll just have a lot of duplicates.

Maybe other than just photo collages of art from in-game.

People could also take photos of maybe their own Sentinels storage system, their own games, their spot they store their SOTM.

I mean there is a lot of custom artwork on BGG as a way to showcase how >G has provided a cool fun time for their fans.

Just my 2 cents.

Here are mine : why not a mosaic made of photograph of us, the thousand fans, disuised as superheroes, spelling the word "thank you >G", or something like this ? Of course we'd need to be a lot of participants.

Another idea : we could work on a "Fans of the Multiverse" environment, with cards like "Playtesting Squad", "Kickstarter support", "Game archives", "Wild Speculations" or "The Randomizer" ? Full of targets who try to help but tend to cause problems by getting in the way :smiling_imp:

I've been wondering for weeks what kind of gift I could give them, knowing I am poor and bad at crafting things, so I would be happy to participate to anything.

I don't think the cards as a whole word work with all the text box. However, if people want to vounteer their time and cut out the images from those cards that would work.

Something else to keep in mind though. While I would prefer to keep all 3 of them in the dark, we might run into some legal issues. Some sites might not let use send images of copyrighted work. Point is, if we need to bring in one of them, maybe he can give us images of all the art.

Regardless of what we get them, maybe someone should be working on the card. I am thinking it would include all the fans name and their usernames on the forum so this would take some time.

Yes, I do mean ALL of them. front and back for the character cards. Some (IR and ST) are taken from the proofs so will be reasonable quality. The EE cards are at a smaller size so may need to be rescanend as they were taken from the smaller proofs. RC was scanned in and is a bit granular owing to my scanner settings.

EDIT: Of course they're also fairly hefty in terms of disk space at 30Mb in total.

Assuming this is something (or at least one of the things) we are doing, Let's start dividing up the work. A couple of things though:

-Anyone want to show me how to crop photos?

-What is our time frame here? I am quite busy the next few days.

-Are we getting more than one thing? How will we coordinate them arriving?

-Do we just want to ship the items, or do a few people want to hand deliver it? I live in Chicago and don't mind driving in on a Sunday (I could also pick up the whisky then).

-Someone have a good idea for the card?

Edit: Also the more I look at this image, we are defiinitely going to have to reuse some of the art I think to make it work. I also don't know if it will fit on the $150 dollar canvas size. Maybe the other photo in a previous post where its the long quick snaps of the freedom 5?

Here's the custom art of Freedom 5 (Originally posted by  evandan55) on first page of the thread.  https://greaterthangames.com/sites/default/files/forum/attachments/Freedom%20Five%20custom.jpg

Also I was just thinking if we do need a bigger canvas depending on how many people can help pitch in. We could do a multiple canvas layout where each corner is one part of the photo to. What do you all think?

I was thinking of using a real photo too (assuming the colors work).

I have no problem with getting more than 1 gift. For another one, I was thinking we get a photo from everyone here and fit that into a SotM picture.

I think the biggest question is how much money do we have to play with. Are we saying everyone chips in X, and we get as much as we can with that amount. Or are we getting 1 or 2 things and splitting it evenly between everybody?

According to http://www.designamosaic.com/ (we don;t have to use this site just one that I found), the biggest one is 30" X 45" and is 169.99 on a canvas. It needs 50 - 3000 pics.

Also a quick way to double the pics we have is to invert them (curious to see if GtG would know which ones are inverted).

Oh that is awesome too! I like the idea of all the fans having a favorite photo of theirs implemented into a mosiac image ^^ Either way I'm in for either or.

Edit I also think what we could do is like I stated before to do a multiple canvas display spread across multiple canvas' that they hang up together to form a big picture. Maybe we could try and get an estimate of like 4 for example and do 2 that are diagonal from each other of say the bbq pic and that F5 pic then the other 2 could be mosiac pictures of 1 being the 3 guys out of mosiac and the other maybe SoTm Fans (then have all of our pictures used for this one?

Making >G  an environment deck would be interesting. Something like Christopher coming out to clarify a rule would thematically work to help or hinder heroes by making their situation tougher/easier. Also would be a great way to throw in [REDACTED] a running trend on the forum.

I got all the cropped pictures from BlueHairedMeerkat (everyone say thank you!) and got the pic of GtG from arenson9 (everyone say thank you!).

I uploaded all the pics to the site (that took sooooo long), and have been emailing them some questions before I sent in the order.

The order is officially in, and as soon as they send me a preview to approve, I will (somehow) show everyone here.

Also, I put my house as the shipping address (wasn't sure if I should send it straight there). I figured is someone was making a card, they could get that to me too, and we could send everything together. Another possibility, a bunch of us go to Origins and present it there.

Some of us are going to be working the booth with Christopher at Origins, so if you need anything (like for us to make sure Christopher is there at a specific time or something), let arenson9 and/or I know. :+1:

And how do we pitch in to help pay for this? Did I miss that in the posts, above?

I am hoping to use this an an excuse to go to Origins (not the best time for me). If I go it will probably only be on Sunday. If I don't go, I will be sure to deliver it to someone else.

This isn't the only way to deliver it, but if a bunch of us are there, I think it would be the nicest.

We haven't discussed how to pay yet, and we also haven't discussed how much. The  print (i got the biggest on canvas) was $169.99.

Someone also had the idea of fans sending in their own personnal pics of SotM. We could do this too if we had the money.

Any ideas about the card?

Here is the issue with the money. Are we simply figuring out how many people can pay and each will give an equal share (or what they can)? Or will people simply say what they can give, and as soon as I hit the amount (minus my share) I stop collecting?

JA
jagarciao

I'd say either way works. Just pick one and go with it. I imagine people won't give more than they can or less than they feel the gesture is worth if they can give.

As long as the cost gets covered I don't think we need to worry about giving evenly.

Regardless of who actually contributes it will simply say "from your friends at the forums" or something like that, right? I'd hate to exclude people because they aren't in a position to contribute financially.

Ok here is the corner blown up (those 2 pics are all I can see).

I think that anyone who wants to can be on the card (not just people who payed). We are all fans trying to show our support regardless of financial situations. If someone strongly disagrees with this, please speak up so we can discuss it.

I think I prefer the method where people just tell me how much they want to give, once we have it paid for, I will tell you to stop. If there are still people who want in, we can also get something else.

If I am in charge of the money, I have 2 conditions:

1) I will NEVER tell who donated and who didn't.

2) I will NEVER tell how much anyone donated.

I realize this could cast some suspicion on me (after all how do you know I won't pocket something), but I refuse to do it without these conditions. If you don't agree, then someone else can collect the money and pay me back.

This might sound a little silly as far as "signing" a card, why not send a small enough photo of one self (or with friends/playing groups/etc) that shows said person with their copy of Sentinels (and expansions and anything else relevent) in a thumbs up or thank you type pose? While the mosaic project looks like it took a lot of time, assembling a collage of fans with the game shouldn't take as long

...unless of course you turn THAT into another mosaic (if you do I suggest the picture from Iron Legacy's "Former Allies" but more like when it was displayed in the Kickstarter than the end result...)

The picutre is 30" x 45".

If we don't have enough fans pictures, they will simply duplicate the ones we have. We also don't need to get the biggest size.

Here by the way are some options to change:

I wish:

the tiles were smaller.

the tiles were larger.

I could change the background.

I could add more photos.

I could remove some photos.

the mosaic was black and white.

the mosaic was sepia toned.  (?)

the mosaic was full color.

some other changes (with a text box).

As long as everyone thinks it is ok, I am going to finalize the mosaic. If possible, maybe I can have a google hangout when it comes to show people, or I will just take pics. Actually should I open it? Should we get it framed?

If all the fans send in a photo of their group, does it have to be something printed? Can someone make a screen saver, or maybe everyday videos themselves for 10 seconds showing their game and group?

I think opening it is a great idea, if nothing else just to make sure it's all good. Depends on what kind of frame you buy, but that's a good point. We probably want them to put it in something nice (not a cheap plastic poster-frame).

A quick check online for frames ~30" x 45" shows prices ranging from ~$120 on up to $250 and higher. My suggestion, Pydro, is for you to just collect whatever you can. I have no idea how much you're going to get, but if folks donate that much (plus whatever you want to include), I'll be pleasantly surprised. :slightly_smiling_face:

Your photo mosaic has shipped!

Your order was shipped on Mon. Apr. 22 and should arrive within 3-5 business days. Your order was shipped via USPS priority mail and you can check the status of your shipment using the tracking number XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX (it arrived). If you have any questions or comments please let us know!

A note about your canvas print:
Your canvas order is printed with a mirrored border. We take two inches from the edge of the image on all sides and mirror them. That way when the canvas is wrapped the edges will still appear to be part of the image but the front image will not lose any critical detail.

You may order reprints of your photo mosaic at 40% off the original price at any time by going here:

Sounds awesome! I could possibly help write; I would also do voice acting, but the English accent may be a problem...

Let's try to anticipate the major issues.

1) Get a list of how many people want a part, so that a script can be made.

2) Write the script.

3) Have each actor record each of their lines.

4) Combine the lines into a single audion file, and add sound effects (Is there an easy way to do this part? Does anyone already know how?)

This is probably an oversimplification, but I just wanted a starting point.

Sentinels Radio Plays?

Yes and yes.

Where do I sign up?  I already have a small, underdeveloped premise for an episode.

I'd like to take part in recording, but I do live very far away from most of the rest of you, and I'm worried that might make things difficult.

English accents are never a problem! They are awesome!

The same goes for Australian accents

@Pydro

Any issues there could be are certainly overcomable as long as it is not used for commercial purposes, etc. If you're interested in going forward with this, send me a quick email and I'll talk to our attorneys about some sort of license agreement thingy.

I did have to do a bit of translating occasionally though :stuck_out_tongue:

Just wanted to double check that this is really something worth pursuing before we get the attorneys involved. Although, based on the enthusiasm here, it seems like it will be worth it.

I am in.

So we need a script, a casting director, etc.  Would we do recordings over skype or try it without any interaction?

Also we need some epic theme music.  I have a nose flute.

I got a trumpet and a tenor horn, but haven't played either in years :)

YES PLEASE

I fancy myself a pretty good voice actor. I can also help contribute to scripting, if need be. Particularly for one specific character that may or may not have been released yet.

On the radio topic, I own a ProTools rig for any sound designing needs.

Oh cool, that would be epic fun I think...if I could be in it that would be cool. See, this is why we need more characters in the game with English accents, for us over here to play in the radio version :D.

I've been running an audio sketch comedy podcast for the past year. I'm not especially adept but I do have a bit in the way of the recording/editing/directing skill set.  I'd also love to be part of the writing/acting segement.

I'd like to offer my voice too, so there's even more demand for British characters... ;)

Might I recommend listening to something along the lines of Decoder Ring Theatre for reference? They do a crackline of sories, one of which is a 1930s/40s pulp hero called the Red Panda, worth listening to even if you don't want to use their style for SotM Radio

This sounds like something I'd be interested in.  Though, given my lack of experience in the matter, and the over enthusiasm of the others, I don't see a place for me.

I'm tentatively interested. If someone is willing and able to organize the collection and merging of audio files and a good script is produced, I would be very happy to provide voicework. I have a decent mic purchased exactly for such purposes, though it has not been put to much use, sadly.

Nielzabub and I split a $200 USB mic from Best Buy a few years ago.  I'm currently in possession of it.  I've yet to use it for much, but he said that it was of pretty decent quality.

Excited about this!  I edit audio in my free time, though I've never done a project like this.  What I'm trying to say is, if you want help there, get in touch.  Also, I'd be willing to voice a character.  I am probably capable of voiceing a male character or a female character.

Oh, I also have a good quality mic someone could use to record, if they could get to St. Louis to do it.

Also, I should note, I work for Greater Than Games, but that itself is not a reason to include me or give me preferential treatment, so please don't.
