He's bad, he's mad, and he's out to stop your evildoing!
He's bad, he's mad, and he's out to stop your evildoing!
And he only has/starts with his hero-usual 32HP. Interesting.
Legacy DOES die in our timeline! That's depressing. So, is Iron Legacy supposed to be crossing over to our timeline, or is the story of him fighting the Freedom Six supposed to be unrelated? I was under the impression that he crosses over to the main timeline, and the Freedom Six follow him.
But this doesn't mean much! Omnitron has 100, and he ain't no Chairman!
A while ago, I remember Christopher saying that there was a timeline split due to the deaths of three characters. We've known one has been Young Legacy for a while, now we've got confirmation that Finest Legacy is the second, but is there a third death we're missing?
Very awesome! I'm surprised by the lower HP so I'm thinking he might work similar to Baron Blade (defeat, flip).
ooh, wouldn't that be IRONic.
Human Unity?
And… Maia Wraith! DUn dun dun dun dun dun…
Gotta bust that armor first.
Evandan55 : maybe Baron Blade. He was his first victim, in the iron timeline...
I would rather have had the "alternate" timeline be the official one. It would have been even more tragic to know that beloved Legacy is destined to become a tyrant. But I'm guy who likes awful, dark, bitter and heart crushing predestination tales :D
I'll say this like I did in the comments.
Am I the only one who sees an Eye of Sauron in the background?
Also...SICK!
He is definately not Baron Blade. He has the same 32 HP on both sides. And he appears to be incredibly difficult. In fact, I've found that difficulty is somewhat inversely proportional to HP. E.g., higher HP villains tend to be easier than lower HP villains. In the general case, not every specific case.
Then you would love Age of Apocalypse, or Age of X. They are not happy. People die die. Death, destruction, misery and pain. I think it's somethng that will bring a little joy to your life!
UXM266 : Haka brings joy in my life already, dark future or not :)
Wonder if you can have all of the Freedom Six face off against Iron Legacy.
A clash where you get Finest, Greatest and Young Legacy to fight Iron Legacy would be interesting.
Speaking as a playtester who had a match against him with the Freedom Six last night... It's very possible and fun. BUT THAT'S ALL I'LL SAY.
It's your game play it how you want, I always figured 3-5 was just a recomendation.
We all knew this was coming, but it's great to finally see him.
I've had a thought - all of Finest Legacy's cards refer to himself as Legacy, so that when you're playing with Newest Legacy (and later Greatest Legacy), everything still works as planned. Following this logic, if you're playing as Finest vs Iron, then Lead from the Front would allow you to redirect all damage to heroes to Iron Legacy instead.
Obviously that's not how it's meant to work, and nobody would really choose to do it that way, but a strict following of the card text would seem to allow for it.
I can also confirm that he is certainly the final boss of this expansion. He is a ton of fun, and everything I'd hoped he'd be.
For the third Character Death, could that be The Assistant's death that causes the timeline split......
Ever since I saw him in the Visionary's deck I had wanted to face off against him more than anything. Now I have had the chance and it is one of the funnest villians to date. It really showcases how truly strong he is. Meaning while he is a hero there is a good chance he is holding back so he doesn't hurt anyone too badly. He can take a whole team in the matter of a few turns even though his HP isn't too different that anyone elses. I really can't wait to see all his artwork as well. The world it has become is going to look intense.
I don't think so: The Assistant was a contest entry. If I'm remembering correctly, the info about three characters dying was way before the contest started.
I think the comment about three heroes dieing were three in the main story. Felecia dies in a alternate story, so her death doesn't count. So I think we are still with only one hero death which would be Legacy. Unless I misread it and they did say three heroes overall.
Maybe Unity? Bunker?
But they die in the Freedom Six timeline, right? So they die as a result of Felicia dying, not really splitting timelines.
Ronway might have a point, though.
Oddly, it looks like Iron Legacy isn't a nemesis of himself (his hero icon isn't on his villain card). I guess he's cool with himself trying to stop himself from killing all those evildoers.
It's certainly understandable to not want to attack yourself as much. And this goes double for Young Legacy. If he had that nemesis symbol, that'd make him her nemesis too. He wouldn't like that.
Where he comes from, there aren't any more Legacy's. I'd find it strange if he did have his own nemesis icon!
If you are playing the good Legacies versus the evil Legacy and Iron Legacy kills Young Legacy I think his head implodes.
I was just curious since they introduced a group of six, I was wondering if the designers expected a 6 v 1 situtation stretching the limit. For all we know the box could say 3-6 players for this expansion.
Side note:
Is there a way for someone to catch up on the lore of this universe. Just recently discovered the game and would love to read more.
I think all the lore on characters and stuff is accessible via the "Multiverse" link at the top of the page. There are also brief bios of all the heroes and villains in the manuals.
Also, checkout the resources under Spiff's site.
http://www.spiffworld.com/sotm/
A lot of the lore is also discovered by the flavor text and art on the cards themselves. There is so much hidden within all the cards that a lot of speculation are based on them.
Yeah, there's an insane amount of events that happen in this multiverse. It's mostly been kept secret (anything outside cards and bios) with a few bits here and there, but there's still a lot to be learned. I hope one day that we know the full story.
On the other hand, it's fun speculating with everyone. A lot of good ideas come up around here. So I do like the mystery as well--deducing things is great, and the info we have to fill in for ourselves because we don't know the truth is always cool.
Thanks all.
Yea I read them, but I am confused by how people are talking about the 3 deaths and all.
So I was just wondering if I was missing something else.
Oh about that... That is lost in the forums somewhere. Real shame though, it'd be nice to read into that again, nmuch like a previous topic about Fright Train.
Yeah, that's the problem we've got around here: we've got all those bits of information, but their sources are lost among all the topics and posts.
I hear tell that some people are working on a wiki! Although it is by no means an official project, it sounds to me like a great way to keep track of official info (as well as the periodic off-hand comment from Christopher that reveals exactly as much as he intends :) )
That's right! Let's not forget about that! I'd certainly love to pitch in on writing down info for them. I've always wanted to do something to help the community here, and since I haven't yet produced that Rook City Renegade movie I wrote (still got the script!), I'd love to help with the wiki.
Wait, so, the periodic off-hand comments from Christopher that reveal exactly as much as he intends will now be archived in a wiki for all to see when they please?
They will be if you put them there. As I said, the wiki is in no way officially connected with GTG.
That's true, so I think it'll stick to keeping all the info from official statements and those little bits of information we get from the GTG guys. All speculation has to stay here!
I'm not that suprised by Legacy's in-universe death (it's on his character incapacitated card), and I feel that may happen even after the story of sentinels of the multiverse is over. But at any rate I'm pretty excited to fight Mr. Iron Legacy. I hope he's not as annoying to fight as the chairman, though...
Having just seen the updates I now demand that the story chalenges be updated to include:
All in the family: Play a game against Iron Legacy using Finest Legacy, Youngest Legacy and Greatest Legacy.
If you need voice actors or otherwise for that, let me know. I've been wanting to get into some SotM projects for a long time. I don't have any written work and lack artistic talent, but I'm driven, I have ideas, and love this game.
I would also be interested in any community-related movies or somesuch. My technical know-how is not the best, but I do have a theatrical back-ground, and I would love to be apart of anything that involves this game.
So with people clamouring to have a hero card depicting the Fallen Legacy, I had a thought:
Reckless Justice: Power: Deal H melee damage to a villain target. Deal 1 psychic damage to H hero targets.
Might actually work as a game mechanic, and it fits thematically.
@ax0r
That was exactly the same mechanic I was thinking.
definitely be interesting to try out.
Though I was thinking it to be Melee to other guys too as a way of other Heroes restraining Legacy or getting hit from debirs caused by his might, but psychic works as well.
That's great thematically, but very powerful. I'd recommend H-2.
Also, for those of you asking about my movie, I do plan on making it, but I'm going to have to wait a while for a few reasons.
Movies cost money, and I'm not exactly rolling in enough money to fund a movie like this. I really want this to be my best work possible, so I don't want to just force it despite not having money and wind up with a terrible product. When I release this in a few years or so, I want this to be amazing. It doesn't have to be flawless, but I don't want to put out something that someone who doesn't even study/pursue filmmaking could make. I want it to reflect my skills and at least be considered a decent amatuer film. But…
I hate my own writing. I've got the script, but I wrote it on my own and I've never been happy with it. I need to find a decent writer or two (I know a handful) who I can have edit or even rewrite the script. I'm better operating a camera than I am with writing.
I need to find dedicated actors, stunt coordinators, and special effects editors. I'll find them eventually. I'm always hunting for contacts. But getting these people (especially if I don't know them) would need a budget. See #1.
So yes, I promise right now that Rook City Renegade will be made some day. I can't promise in the near future, but this has always been my desire to give back to the community here. A lot of people do a lot of things to contribute to the fanbase (shoutout to Spiff, Flamethrower, and the wiki makers), and since filmmaking is my forte, I'll put my skills into making a movie.
Expatriette is the main character. Shootouts and fistfights are involved.
Yeah, I realise it's powerful, but it needs to balance against existing cards. H-2 damage to a villain card tops out at 3, which is the same as Young Legacy's base power. To balance the drawback of hurting your team every time you use it, it has to be better. You could make the downside stronger - 2 damage to H heroes would be scary to most teams.
The power also highlights Legacy going from a team player to being out for only himself. Normally, he buffs everyone else's damage. Here, if anyone tries to help him, it only makes things worse. I think it could work...
>G, go!
Think Haka has a similar card for 5 damage to all non-hero and 2 damage to all hero targets. So 5 damage to 1 Hero and 1-2 to all hero target seems fair. Could make that 1 damge irreducible as a draw back.
Or Instead of H heroes just do damage to all Hero targets so then it would damage or good guys from the Rook City env.
I am quite literally a few weeks away from an English Literature degree (with a minor in Psychology). I would be happy to look it over for you. Just shoot me a message if you are so inclined!
First off, congratulations on graduating soon.
Secondly, I will certainly send you a copy of it with some notes and such. The writer I had originally planned to go to for help (also a soon-graduating English Lit. major!) is quite swamped with work and probably too busy to help with this.
It's late right now, though, so I'll type up the notes and send you a copy later today.
Why Yes. yes we are!
Go there everyone, and find the info lost in the posts and link it,copy paste it, and put it up there for fun fun things!
Seriously. I didnt make that wiki for my health ![]()
In a way I hope there'll always be loose ends. It just makes the universe feel more real. And I love that part of the lore is mostly just accessible by lurking around here and absorbing all these little bits of random info. And I love Christopher's weird keyboard with instant picture post button and buttons that suddenly decide to type out [redacted] instead of delicious info ![]()
I can’t say as though I’m surprised by this reveal, as it is similar to one of my (and probably others) create-a-villain entries. Although mine was from a few generations down the road. I really wish they were more specific about what to avoid, as I would have been able to spend more time on my other non-duplicate entry.
I wonder if all those that entered an “Evil Legacy” shared what we submitted if we would get any idea of how this “Iron Legacy” would play out. Here is mine:
Denouement
Aliases: Paul Grigori Patterson
Age: 402 years (looks 43)
Height: 6’ 4”
Weight: 220 lbs.
Hair Color: Light Brown
Eye Color: Brown
Birthplace: Capital City, Earth
Power Source: Genetic
Group Affiliation: None
Occupation: One-Time Hero, Full-Time Regretter
First Appearance: Freedom Five Annual #15
Nemesis: Unknown
Paul Patterson is the master of all he surveys. Unfortunately, for him it isn’t much to look at, and hasn’t been for close to a century. The problem with immortality is you get to live with your regrets forever. “Could I have saved my wife and child?” “Why didn’t I remarry?” “Why did I ever agree to go through with halting my aging process, such that the world would always have a hero?” “If I permitted my foes to join forces with me in the final fight, would it have gone differently?”
Nigh-Invulnerability, and super healing allowed him to survive what is known now as “Legacy’s Folly”. However, neither does a darn bit of good against the mental damage caused by self-isolation, and depression. The mind has its own method of healing such wounds - shifting blame. “Why was I abandoned in my darkest hour?” “Why did I ever listen to the advice of others?” “Why did my Dad and all his relatives even follow in our relative’s footsteps, sacrificing so much for nothing?”
While human civilization continued on via colonization of other planets throughout the galaxies, Earth has had a population of one for close to a hundred years. Paul stays there as it is safer for everyone if he does. Rage frequently over comes him, and nothing can withstand the primal force of his combined powers, as around every century he has developed new ones. Turns out there doesn’t need to be a new generation to increase the power of the Legacy, it just takes time, and time is the one thing that is in endless supply for him.
Friends used to try to talk him into trying to reclaim his role of protector. At first he turned them down out of fear for the devastation he had already caused. Then out of shame. During that time he even attempted to take his own life, but was never successful, thanks to his super powers, which could destroy anything but what he hated most… himself. But now after so many years, he just refused to return to society, because they don’t deserve him. He was the top of the food chain, the apex predator, and master of the world. He no longer needed anyone or anything as he was power personified, unstoppable, and forever trapped on a dead planet of his own creation.
But with the evolution of his latest power, he suddenly has an infinite number of possibilities. He is now able to open rifts in time itself. He could travel back to just before his greatest mistake, and set things right. No. That won’t work, the world would want to rely on him, and he didn’t need them. He could travel back and convince himself not to go through with the procedure to stop his aging. No, that won’t do, he would have been just as lonely. He could simply go back and save his wife, and unborn child. Then the world could have a new Legacy, one that they could love and rely on.
No, why would he curse anyone with that burden? No, no one deserves that on their shoulders. He could go back and confront his Dad, but
the world was too reliant on him in his prime, and he has surpassed him in every way.
No, He needed to maximize the odds of his defeat by going to the golden age of heroes. Back when they were countless heroes and dozens of villains. Both his Father’s and Mother’s great-great-grandfather’s were forces to be reckoned with back then. Surely their combined forces could put an end to his existence. Yes, that is it. He will put an end to the Legacy one way or the other. This is the denouement…

"Evil Legacy" was on so many card art already that I never thought about making him an entry in the contest. And I came with the idea of alternate universe evil [redacted ] and her evil [redacted] too late for an entry.
Edit : Chritoper'ed just in case it could be an idea they already had ;)
My villain entry was an evil Visionary, but even when I started making that entry, I figured they probably already had plans for her (and now we've all got that promo card), so my evil Visionary was doomed to not count. But I didn't care; it was fun!
Too late, I already know what you originally said, heheheh.
Reckless, I just sent you a PM regarding the script.
So btw, if the five decks of Vengeance are Ermine, Fright Train, Proleteriat, Friction, and Iron Legacy...does this mean Baron Blade doesn't get a new deck, then? I kind of thought he would, since he's sort of in charge of the whole thing (well, not LEgacy, obviously, but the other four). But I don't recall seeing an update featuring his deck. Did I miss it, or was one not announced? Maybe he'll pop up in the decks of the other four, in their cards giving them buffs or something.
Iron Legacy is in Shattered Timelines not Vengeance.
I don't think we got an update for Baron Blade since his character history is already known and his connection to the expansion already explained in the expansion overview. But I think he still is one of the 5. A second deck separate from his first that is designed to interact with the other 4 decks.
Is everyone as excited about the artwork hints as I am?

I mean, look at the name!
Sounds like the opposite of Inspiring Presence. "All hero targets lose 1 hp (this is not damage) and deal -1 damage?" That would be a kick in the teeth.
Like Omnitron-X, the cards in Iron LEgacy's deck have a call-out in name and theme to many of the ones in the 'parent' deck. It's a nice touch to maintain continuity.
Ahh, yeah that makes sense, Iron Legacy being in Shattered Timelines, seeing how his picture's on the box and all. Duhhh...well, my excuse is there's been so much info released lately on all these zillions of heroes and bad guys and everything, that I just got confused ;). So I haven't seen the new Baron Blade yet because no further info has been released. So that's okay then ;). Omg I am sooo looking forward to getting hold of all this stuff and being able to play some new games! :D
YES!
Are we gonna get to fire a terraforming beam? Launch an electropulse explosive?
Are we gonna get struck in the face with the back of an iron fist? Thokk'd? Flying smashed? Will Iron Legacy evolve right before our eyes?
Since this is a time line thing, I wonder how it would affect Regular Legacy knowing that if Young Legacy dies this would happen.
Maybe this is what motivates him to sacrifice everything to protect Young eventually leading up to his death in the normal timeline to prevent Iron Legacy.
What is more curious is how did Baron Blade actually get past the Impenatrable Skin defense both Finest and Young Legacy have.
I mean it cant be Kyptonite as they were from earth and theres no planet to explode.
http://sentinelsofthemultiverse.com/comic?page=5
The very next page…I assure you.
Yes, Omnitron-X has [redacted] and certainly you can [redacted] with him.
Likewise, Iron Legacy's [redacted] is particularly brutal to the heroes, and he does [redacted] a lot.
What???
pwatson, were you bitten by Christopher last full moon ?
Koey : my own idea about the timesplit was that in one universe, Dad sacrificed his life to save Young Legacy - in the other one, he hesitated a few seconds, and the guilt he felt about letting her daughter die when he could have done something drove him to his current evil personality... Maybe he saved the Assistant instead :)
Aw man, Iron Legacy's even got the Ennead breaking rocks (at least Osiris). What is he making them build, I wonder?
I'm thinking the camera shy character may possibly be Ra, which is even worse than having the Ennead break rocks. And the lava guy has appeared yet again, i'm really starting to think he may be a villian that will appear soon.
What they are building ? Bigger prisons.
Is that Ra lifting rocks there at the front?
I first thought Haka.
And Lava dude must show up sometime...either in the block, as a sub villain in vengeance or as a stand alone...i feel like he's in there more then most previously teased villains.
It could also be Atum, who's got the same skin tone, musculature and hair. And as for the fire guy... Well, I'm sure we'll find out about that Johnny Storm wannabe later on.
You guys think that's Iron Legacy on the wall? I guess the silouette and card name work. I hadn't thought about it much and assumed it was the Warden.
Nah, that's definitely Iron Legacy.
Yeah, if nothing else the name parallelism clinches it.
@evandan55 Hey, if you really need someone to take a second look at your script I can. I'm a tough critic (obvioulsy, i wouldn't insult anything i'd just offer suggestions) and as such I could help fine tune it.
After seeing Horus Ra carrying stone in Iron Legacy's prison, I looked at Haka's incapacitated side, does it look like Haka is carrying stone as well? Perhaps also in Iron Legacy's prison?
He certainly seems to be holding up a whole lotta stone. Whether he's in a prison or just keeping a hallway from collapsing isn't clear to me.
