I'm mostly posting about the following comment, which is in the Kickstarter FAQ

  • Last time, we thought that this sounded like a great idea and told people to go ahead. Unfortunately, we did not consider the fact that international shipping charges are very dependent on weight. Consequently, if we combine two orders in one box and send it overseas, we get charged pretty much the same as we would if we put the rewards in two separate boxes. So in summary, we are disappointed to say that the answer is "no".

My issue here is (a) how do you enforce this? If someone orders two copies of the expansion and an additional copy of every stretch goal, do you charge them double shipping?

And (b) in that case, why isn't the shipping cost in general related to the weight of the items? I mean, if I combined with my friend, and he pledges for two copies of Shattered Timelines and an additional copy of every stretch goal, that still comes out to less weight than someone who pledges at, say, the Core and Most level, and also gets the Unity and Ambuscade decks à la carte. It doesn't make sense to me that shipping would be charged at $80 in the first case and $40 in the second case.

We definitely considered making shipping cost dependent on weight. However, 90% of packages we send out are close enough in weight that the shipping charges don't vary much, and such a system, given the wide variety of options selected by the other 10% of people, would be incredibly difficult to manage.

I'm also considering this. But before that, how do we order an extra set of stretch rewards? Add $5 $10 $15?
